Introduction
Christmas Eve, 1998, Carnegie Hall:
The audience is seated and waiting anxiously for the show to begin. Outside, Ms. Aya Brea has just arrived with her handsome and very masculine blonde date. Before actually going inside, Aya confesses to her date that something about tonight just doesn't feel right. He urges her that the feeling is probably nothing and that they should go in and take their seats before they miss something.
Right on time. The show begins just as soon as they step in. The two quickly take their seats and begin watching the action on stage... Maybe it's not as bad as Aya thought it would be after all.
At last, Melissa steps up to sing her part. She faces the crowd and begins singing but half-way through the piece, she notices the blonde woman with the big hair (Aya), staring at her from near the front row.
The two lock eyes for only a few seconds.
A close up shot of the actress reveals her eyes turning from brown to a glowing green color. All of a sudden flames begining engulfing the audience out of nowhere. Practically the entire audience is toasted in a matter of minutes. Dead before they ever realized that the flames originated from within their own bodies.
Questions and More Questions
Aya is not exactly sure what is going on but she quickly realizes she seems to be the only one still alive. She whips out her weapon and gets up to to investigate. It's obvious to her that the woman still singing on stage knows something or is probably even responsible herself for what's just happened. She carefully steps over the well done corpses which now all resemble barbeque chicken sauce and heads to the stage to confront her.
Finally face to face with her, Aya demands to know who she is and what she knows about what's just happened. The actress reveals herself as Eve and gives Aya some information that leaves her with even more questions than she had originally.
Maya Connection
The weirdest part of it is that Eve claims to know Aya but Aya doesn't know her much less even recognize her. She can't shake the feeling that they share some sort of connection though. Before she has a chance to process any of this, Eve blasts a ball of energy in her direction. Aya pumps off bullets in return but they don't seem to cause any damage at all. Before she has a chance to apprehend Eve, she hovers off backstage.
Aya follows close behind, but stops short when she sees the figure of a little girl appear and disappear from nowhere. The little girl... she looked identical to her sister Maya when she was a little girl... and around the same age as Maya was when she died.

The Beginning
This is the first of many battles Aya will have to fight throughout the course of the game. Aya doesn't know why just yet, but she is the only one immune to the effects of Eve. As you play through the game you will discover just why that is and that Aya is actually humanity's only hope for survival against this new type of foe.
