13 Nov - Day 7. Culemborg Part 2

Nearby, there was a canal and standing next to it and old looking wall, that was probably part of either the city wall or some kind of fortress. -I admit I did't bother to go and read the sign-

The whole thing had a very nice look at sunset, though.

Further on the way, we found a very nice cute little church. It had a typical architecture, and some dungeon-like features that gave it a cute castle feel. Culemborg is not a very big place, so we quicly found ourselves in the village center, where a Wide empty space laid, bordered by a few interesting buildings. Among them, another church, with the particularity to have its tower askew. When you look at the picture you ask yourself if it's not a visual effect due to perspective... But when you see it in real life, you can't be mistaken. It's quite funny to see.

The other interesting building was some kind of town hall, I assume. The building had a cute little roof reminding those of the Kremlin in Moscow. We kept walking and looking for more interesting curiosities. In a narrow street, we found a set of doors rather unusuals. They were pushed back compared to the wall, creating some sort of roof above the entrance. First time I'd seen that!

Further away in the street, ornated houses. I like the way the houses are decorated with geometric patterns that are actually built-in, by using bricks of another colour.

There was a canal running along the road, and next to it the ruins of a castle. When I say ruins, I'm generous, because there was no standing wall there. The place was flat, with a stone floor. But alas nothing worth taking a picture from.

Then we went back to the car, admiring the sunset, then started driving home.

And on the way, we saw, next to a village called Beesd (for info, Beest means Beast in dutch), a bunch of llamas... Weird enough to take a pic, I say ^_^

Once home, we decided to go for a chinese restaurant, before eventually going to rest, as the next day we were to go to... Amsterdam!
