9 Nov - Day 3. Antwerpen - Breda Part 2
After some more walking, I found a shopping mall, that I visited for the fun of it.
Then I walked back to the cathedral and in the other direction, and ended up on the riverside. Antwerpen has a
great harbour, and the river is quite wide. Next to it, I saw another castle-like building. The overall riverside
was quite nice, even if the sky was grey.
Two different kind of bricks/stones, but somehow both buildings have a castle like feel
Large view on the river
After that, I left Antwerpen for Breda. Then I thought it might be nice to go and get some Belgian chocolate as
a gift for the person I was about to meet there, so I got out of the motorway and started looking for a place
where I could buy such things. I ended up in Schilde, a tiny town with quite a few shops. I studied my dutch book
to prepare myself, and went into one of the "Pralines" shops. "Kan ik met een kreditkart betalen?" went I.
(Meaning, can I pay by credit card)"Néé", she went. So I had to look for a cash machine before coming back. I
actually managed to buy what I wanted, pay, and go away, speaking only dutch, and I got away with it. I'm even
pretty sure she said something like my dutch was not that bad or something. I left the shop quite proud of
myself.
Then I drove back, meaning to go to Breda, when I saw the sunset. It was gorgeous. I needed to take pictures of
it, so I drove west, ending back up in Antwerpen, where all the buildings were blocking the view. I couldn't stop,
so each time the street lights were red, I took a picture.
Sunsets!!!
