"Well if it isn't Quickfingers." Evan heard the locals say as he entered the tavern. Prince Evan Dunmire of the Kingdom of Griffin had established a reputation as a local theif in the village. Of cource no one knew who he really was, that would be stupid. He sat down at his regular booth, while watching and listening to the town's gossip. It seemed that their was big news in the air, the typed that changed things.
Julius sat behind the counter, cleaning the inside of one of the mugs "Really, spit your tobacco in the sitoon, that's why i have it there" he grumbled. Hearing the Quickfinger was in, he looked around no stealing the ale yeh lil theif, got enough problems without ye adding to em he thought, keeping an eye out.
When Evan had enough of what he could stand of the locals, he walked up to the man he knew would have the most accurate informaton, Julius. "So I hear there is something big going on in the world. A Eura for your thoughts?"
Julius smiled "Of course" he said setting the glass down "Yes, there are many a big thing happening in the world, and its' more than mere politics, or so i gather"
"Any hint onto what these big things are? The town seems in an uproar about it, but little old me doesn't seem to have a clue." He was very sheltered in the palace.
"A caged god, an angel from the future, and a rebellion in the present my dear boy. Things will change, though i have no idea how the whole town would know this" Julius said in a tone that almost made it sound like it bored him.
"Then I must wonder how a man like you knows of this." Evan said quirking an eye brow. "Although, a rumor of a rebellion has been going on for quite some time and everyone knows about the caged god, but a future angel is new to me."
Julius looked at him, lowering his voice so that only Evan could here "You would be wise my prince not to ask to many such questions. You need not fear asking me, but be careful who else you ask. For there are those who would not take to kindly to such things" He picked up another mug, serving a customer what they ordered before coming back over to him "As for the information, I have my ways, having lived in the underworld of society for a time has had its' benifits"
Evan took a step bacl, this man knew who he was. He thought about killing the man, but just as swiftly tossed the idea a side. "How.. you know what never mind. I have learned somethings are best to be left unknown." He spoke bitterly. "What can you tell me?"
Julius eyed him "I wouldn't have advised trying it laddie. Well what is it that you wish to know?"
"What is the meaing behind the angel of the future. This isn't the first time I have heard of it, but rarely do I get a straight answer to what it is." Evan said.
Julius reguarded the lad with caution "I'm not entirely sure what to believe, but from what i understand...." he paused, shooing away a group of vagrants "Beat it ye varmits! Yer tab is already to high, so don't come back unless you've got the money to pay!" He returned to Evan "Supposedly this angel is to restore the former balance" he was careful with what he said, as he knew Chorus would have agents afeild, and Turan would probably skin him if he let this info fall into the wrong hands.
"So you say." Evan folded his fingers together. "It gives me food for thought. Thank you, but I should get going." If he stayed much longer his presence would be missed in the palace. He left and returned to Griffen Palace
"Till next time, Namarie" Julius nearly bowed, catching himself an turning into a bend over to retrieve several bottles from a lower cabinet. Realizing he had spoken the ancient language of the elves "Julius, ye need to lay off the gut rot more often" he sighed at himself, shaking his head.
A little girl walked into the tavern, looking around.
Julius eyed the girl "Can i help you young one?" he asked her, cleaning out the inside of yet another mug.
The little girl looked at him. "I...I...am hungry sir...."
"So it seems you are, well come along then find yourself a seat at the far end over there an tell me what you'd like" He intentionally had her sit on the far side on account the...less then desirables tended to favour the side closest the door.
"Thank you sir..." she said softly. She walked over to the far end of the bar. She climbed into a seat.
Julius finished checking in a group calling after them "You buy what you break and for god's sakes keep the partying to a mimimum so as not to disturb the other guests" he handed one of them a set of keys before returning to the girl "Well what can i get you little one? A bit late to be wandering out at night don't you think?"
She nodded, looking down at her lap. "Yes.... sir... I..."
"Don't worry, i wont turn you in or anything of the sort" he said reassuringly.
Turan walked in, surveying the room for any who might cause him trouble.
"I don't have... a home... sir..." the little girl whispered.
Julius kicked himself mentally "I'm sorry to hear that" he stopped, seeing Turan back so soon.....but that means... he turned back to the girl "Mind if i ask your name? and you still haven't told me what you'd like as far as food an drink is concerned....it's on the house" he shot a venomous glare at a drunk who spit his tobacco into the mug "I put the spitoon there for a reason, use it!" he growled.
"Nadya...." the girl said softly, looking up at him. "I...don't know... water....?"
"Anything to eat miss Nadya?" he asked, returning with the water.
"You cold?" he asked her, wondering whether it was cold, fear, or alittle bit of both.
Turan brought Roan in, only to be confronted by a drunk "Can't you read the rules my pointy eared friend? No weapons!" Turan smiled, he could smell the heavy liqour in the mans' breath "Move out of my way and be about your buisness" he said cooly. The man laughed "You're dead!" he sent a punch into Turan's stomach. Turan staggered back briefly "Is it really going to come to this?"
Roan took a look at the situation, causing her to put a hand on Turan's shoulder. "There's no need." Roan took a look at the tavern owner and little girl, and knew that if they caused any trouble they would be in deeper trouble than need be. "Plus I get the feeling you could kill him on a whim, and I don;t want to see anyone die on my first day in Tyradias."
The man sent another fist flying at Turan's face, only for Turan to catch it "You heard the lady, you're causing trouble" he said icily, before hurling the man one handed out the door and into the dark. He turned to Roan "No i wasn't planning on killing him, he posed no threat to me or you, and killing is only to be used as a last resort" he walked over to the bar "Juluis, a drink when you get a moment" he stiffled a laugh as a rather large drunk scuttled out of his way to a seat.
Roan just shook her head and sat down next to Turan. So far the man Turan was ruining the image her mother had create of this place. "All most people of Tryadias as kind as you?"
Nadya didn't answer the bartender, or Juluis as he had been called. She just stared at the man, Turan, wide eyes.
Juluis slid Turan a mug filled with his preffered brew "I got somthing to ask you so don't go vanishing off anytime soon" he barked, turning to check in a couple.
Turan repressed a laugh "As kind as i am...perhaps, sorry to ruin the tales of your mother for you" he said, swiling out of the mug "Don't worry Julius i have somthing to tell you old friend so i won't be dissapearing....less that bratty prince comes in with a retenue"
Nadya just held her glass of water, knowing she was out of place.
"You're as welcomed here as any" Turan said in the little girls direction. Julius smiled "Like i told ye lassie, i won't turn you out if you have no place to go"
"I... thank you, sir..." she said, and took a small sip of her water.
Roan's head whiplashed to look at Turan. "That is twice you have replied to my thoughts." She said in anger. "Stay out of my head. In addition, my mother has nothing, and I mean nothing to do with you or anyone, or thing of this world." She was steaming, her exhaustion, confusion, and everything else in between had turned to rage. "Let's get this straigh I know nothing about you and you know nothing about me, which doesn't gove you the right to be called my firend or anything in between. You are a stranger." She grabbed the cup set infront of her and marched over to an empty table.
"And as far as your knowledge of me is concerned...it will remain so" Turan said under his breath. He eyed Julius, who sauntered over, looking as tired an pissed off as ever on account of the local troublemakers "Looks like you picked up another transient?" Julius shot him a look "Shut your trap Turan, she's got no place to go an i....Never turn anyone away who doesn't have a home, yes i know Julius so spare me the talk" Julius raised an eyebrow at the elf "You're in a fine mood, so who'd you pick up?" he asked looking over at Roan. Turan dismissed his question for a moment "I need a room for her, i'll be leaving soon so as soon as you got the little gal over their made comfortable i'll pay an be on my way" Julius eyed him "off so soon? I thought you said you wheren't dissapearing?" Turan set his mug down with alittle force behind it "Julius, i said i had somthing to tell you before i left, and i thought you had a question to ask me?" Julius took a step back from the old elf's icy stare "It can wait" he replied, returning to Nadya.
Nadya just looked between the two confused, and sighed, taking yet another small sip. She looked the young woman over.
Roan sat fuming, but not just because of Turan. She was disappointed in her self, she had made a promise to her self she wouldn't let the anger caused by her parents ever make her lash out. Still the man was pushy when things didn;t go his way, and had little idea of person space. Roan was use to haveing her own bubble, she spent so much time alone. it was a personal battle she had yet to win.
Turan turned to Julius "I had an encounter with Ketsuri" Julius nearly dropped the glass he was about to fill "And?" he asked, looking around to make sure anyone of Chorus' side that he knew was in the room "Turan i thought you told me Ketsuri was looking to leave Tyradias altogether?" Turan turned to him "No, he's back and i have reason to believe he has sided with Chorus"
Nadya looked confused. "What's wrong?" she asked softly.
"Ever heard of a dark assasin who's name in the common tongue means tears of blood? His surname is Ketsuri" Julius didn't know why he was telling her this.
Turan, by now to addled by whatever it was he was drinking turned to Nadya "He was a former student of mine, i taught him to fight, to be loyal..." a note of bitterness laced through his voice "He turned on me, leeding a group of his followers against me an the rest of my students, all of whom are now dead"
Julius eyed Turan "Easy old friend" he placed a hand on his shoulder.
Nadya nodded. "Oh... I... I'm sorry, sir... You're a teacher....?"
Turan stiffened alittle "I was a teacher little one. Last i taught at the group level was over a hundred years ago, since then it has been a sort of apprenticeship....meaning one at a time, and i have only done so with one person, and it has taken a hundred years but he has learned much" Turan spoke with a note of pride, though he did not wish to give a name. Abarhi had been his last pupil, yet also amoungst his finest.
"A... hundred.... really...?" Nadya asked.
"How old do you think i am?" Turan asked, a smile crossing his face.
Nadya tilted her head. "More than a hundred....many more.... looks are deceiving...." she said softly. Her little hands holding the glass of water, that still looking undrunk even with her having sipped some.
truth be told i don't even know how old i am....i just count the years since i awoke on that river bank he thought to himself. Turan turned to the girl "You are more than meats the eye as well" he got a strange feeling he knew her, or at least knew of her somhow from where though? Unless it was before the river...though i doubt it, she couldn't be that old
Nadya looked down at the bar, scared. "I...I am...?" she whispered.
Turan raised an eyebrow "There is a reason for that though? Your reaction gives you away, i'm no hunter though" He did not know she was a Vampire, he had heard of Vampires friendly to others using similar teqniques to hide themselves though.
Nadya looked scared. "Wha.... what do you think I am?"
"More than what meets the eye, but you have nothing to fear from me" Turan was begining to wonder at his early Vampire theory.
"Thank you sir.... for the water.... I.... I'm going to go...." Nadya said softly, as she got down from the stool. She hugged herself as she headed to go towards the door, her ten/10 year old legs carrying her as fast as they could.
"I didn't mean to scare you" Turan said softly, kicking himself.
"Damnit Turan" Julius eyed the elf "Couldn't you keep it to yourself?" he kept his voice to a harsh whisper.
"I didn't see any harm in it, but you're right...i should have. Another drink if you please" Turan said dismissivly.
"You don't scare me...." Nadya whispered at the door. "I... have nothing left so wish should I fear anything...."
"The poor child." Roan said when she saw her run, then walked back over to Turan. "Will she be all right? And I think it's is time I hit the hey. Would it be okay if I took a room?"
"Of course" Turan said quietly, catching the set of keys Julius threw him "She'll be alright"
Roan smiled at the in keeper. "Thank you for your kindness. It seems I also owe you an apology. I didn't mean t snap, but for now on please stay the hell out of my thoughts."
Turan said nothing, he had buisness to attend to "Julius you know the drill" he said quietly before heading for the door.
Julius perked up "What so now i'm on baby sitting duty?" he said looking from Roan to Turan "Yi yi, alright just besure you pay up when you come back...and no i-owe-you's!"
"If the lessons of the past are anything to drum up old friend, it is you who owe me" Turan eyed Julius, he knew it would irritate him to bring up the past....all the more reason to though to take the Elf's mind off of him and put it back on serving his customers "I'll have one more round Julius and then i'm off"
Julius cast him a worried look "You're up to somthing aren't you?" he asked softly. Turan looked at him "You should know better than to ask into things far bigger and darker than you" Julius sighed, sliding Turan his drink.
"Were does that leave me?" Roan asked the Tavern keeper.
"You have a place here, your friend has seen to that. Who knows where he is headed off to, probably to one of the deserted border towns.....i just hope he takes care of himself" Juluis sighed "Can i get you anything little miss?" he asked her, not wishing to touble her with things that she had no idea about.
Abarhi walked in shortly after Turan left, sitting as far away from Roan as possible. Juluis saw him, wondering if this was the new apprentice Turan had talked about awile ago.
Ketsuri stood outside the inn "This is to easy" he said to flick as he whached Turan leave "The old elf is leaving and the girl is still there....my only question is; what's the catch and do i want to know?"
"Well Mr. Tavern keeper you can strt by telling me hyour name, and why that man wont leave me a lone for a minutes." She sensed the guy named Abarhi as he came into the room. Since she was little she had always been able to noticed even the slight diffrences of an atmosphere.
He smiled at her "My name is Julius, and as far as you not being left alone...well he'd rather not have you get torn limb from limb as there are many who would do so" Julius wasn't one to mince words, and he knew if the likes of Ketsuri and flick where at all involved then it would most likely end that way.
"Your talking about the prophecy I seem to be a part of. The one were the two in the back want my life for?" Roan said still talking only to the tavern keeper, but sure that the others were listening. "And if that is the case, I hope that everyone knows that I am not going to help anyone, but the common people who needed it the most." She knew that it was strange for her to know so much, but she did and had no plans to tell them how.
"Yes, that is what i speak of" He cast a look over at Abarhi whose' glare caused him to shudder "That one in the corner is a friend of Turan so you need not worry about him....it's the others, you see the King of this particular realm would sooner have your head on a plate than see you help anyone...ignorant little brat" he spat.
Ketsuri walked into the inn, not thinking much of Abarhi when he saw him, he saw the girl "This is to easy" he said to himself.
Abarhi roused from his thoughts at the feeling of Ketsuri's presence shall we and your friend dance again oh foolish one? he thought pleasantly before getting up an walking over to Roan. For all he knew they would kill her as soon as they got close, and that was somthing he couldn't risk.
"Don't worry so much shadow walker, they have no intent in harming me." Roan said. Since she was small Roan had always been able to sense anything having to do with atmosphere of peope and the places they are. "So tell me about this 'little snot' who wants my head on a plater." She liked knowing were she stood with people.
Abarhi smiled at her "He is here, and soon there will be blood" he whispered to her gently "I would ask that you allow me to take you to your room....i would have as few killed as possible, though of the two that hunt you their injury or demise is of their own contrivance"
Ketsuri noticed Abarhi next to Roan Turan?...no, wrong color hair he tucked his hand into his pocket, clutching the eight bladed stars and preparing to throw them.
"Fine." Roan sighed, the smiled at the tavern keeper. "Thank you for your hospitalliy and when I get the chance we will have to continue this converstation."
He followed her to the stairs, only to pull her aside to avoid being hit by Ketsuri's star blades "That was a mistake friend" his voice was cool as he placed himself between roan and Ketsuri.
"I think it is you who made the mistake, now hand over the girl and no one else but her has to die....what is she to you anyways? Abarhi smiled "For one i refuse to stand by while an innocent girl is slaughtered for somthing she has no control over...for another you piss me off on account you have failed to head the warning i lent you at the library, so if you intend to take her from me by force i hope your friend that you brought with you is prepared for a blood letting" He turned to Roan "Stay behind me until it looks like i may lose, when it does run, Turan shouldn't be far away but you need to get to him before they catch you. If they catch you, you will be condeming yourself to a death unimaginable" He turned to face Ketsuri "I'm sorry you where brought into this, but i know if anything my Master will sooner see himself dissolved in acid than let them kill you"
Ketsuri drew his sword "Well so the shadow master from the library returns to protect his masters wench....i hope your ready to die for a little brat you don't even know"
"I am not a brat you weirdo, crazy, sycopathic, stocker. Now stop this." Roan placed a hand on Abarhi's arm. "I swear at the moment they will not harm me." Roan turned around to face the two. " My name is Roan. Why don't we just sit and talk. Plus I have some questions for you, and in return I'll answer yours if you have any."
"Orders are orders little one, and mine are to bring you in as much alive condition as possible to my master for excecution. Just be thankful it's not me, i'm not so kind" Ketsuri's voice was cold enough to chill bones. Abarhi laughed "You think i'll just let you take her? I refuse to repeat myself" fire and lightning danced in his hands "If you want her...you'll have to come and get her"
Julius took note of Abarhi and Ketsuri. Yanking a hawk out of its' nest and tying a letter to it "For Turan" he growled as the bird flew into the night.
Ketsuri heard Julius as he lunged at Abarhi "You're no match for me!" he roared, only to grunt in pain as Abarhi caught the blade. Blood flowed from Abarhi's hand, the weapons' tip inches from Roan's wrist "I told you foolish one, it'll take more than sword crafter to overcome me"
Flick, kept back, concealing his where abouts, making sure they didn't realise he was there, he watched the battle like a hawk, they had made specific plans and Ketsuri was so call his name is things weren't look too good. He waited for that moment, then he would make his presence known, till then, he just covered his smile with his hand trying not to laugh. This was funny.
Abarhi held Ketsuri's blade in his bleeding palm. The blade glowed, then shattered. Ketsuri stepped back. Abarhi smiled "Even your blade can't cut me now" He drew his sword "Now let the fight begin" he reappeared behind Ketsuri, who only narrowly avoided blocking the blade with his own and being cut in half "What is your name?" he asked sending a bolt of lightning at Roan. Abarhi appeared in front of Roan, absorbing the bolt "Who cares, you'll be dead soon enough" his voice was ice cold as he sent a bolt of his own back at Ketsuri.
Flick bit his lip, his eyes getting ever wider as he watched the fight, curious he thought.
Ketsuri deflected the blast into the door, causing Julius to growl "I hope you intend to pay for that!" he barked, looking around for his own blade in case things got messy. Abarhi appeared infront of Ketsuri shit! was all Ketsuri had time to think before Abarhi delivered a powerful kick to his stomach, sending him flying into the wall. Ketsuri tried to stand, dazed "Flick are you just going to whach or are you going to do somthing?" he spat as blood streamed from his mouth where he had also been punched.
As Flicks name was said the man suddenly did a forward roll out of the shadows, landing near Ketsuri, he landed with a flump next to the bleeding man."But..you looked like you could handel it". He just laid there happily seemingly oblivious to the fact they were fighting.
Abarhi paused only for an instant shade he thought before sending knives at flick and Ketsuri.
"Shut up and...yeow look out!" Ketsuri growled, dodging the deadly stars "These...oh.." he said realizing they where the same stars with the same markings as the ones back at the library.
Flick did some weird kind of contosionist back flip thing, bending and avoiding the stars, he caught one in his teeth as he stood up right. He held it there for a second before taking it out and looking at it."These things look dangerous". He launched it back at Abrahi, aiming for the face.
Abarhi caught it between his fingers "Yes, i suppose you could say that" his eyes shown white as he sent bolts of lightning at flick.
Flick looked at the lightning bolts, the struck where he was, or atleast where he had been. Flick emurged through a shadow cast by the lampshape on the ceiling, he half came out, hanging upside down and holding on. He looked down at Abrahi."Now that was a little rude dont you think"?
Abarhi reappeared over Ketsuri, holding in his hand a bolt of fire "Not nearly so much as this little shade, and if try the same thing with the girl...you'll end up torching yourself"
"Huh what girl"? Flick let himself fall down from the shadow, he landed hard on his back and laid there, staring at where he had just been."Oh you mean that girl we were supposed to capture, yeah, boring times". He sighed and slowly got to his feet, he raised an eyebrow. He looked at the fire and blinked lazily."This is boring".
Abarhi appeared behind him, placing a hand on flick's shoulder "I could incernerate you with but a thought...more interesting this way isn't it?" he said darkly.
"Hardly, you can't even see me". Flick was gone in a flash, he began to laugh, hidden from sight around the move.
Roan, who was tired of the guys display of mochoness was now sitting back infront of Julius, drinking water. "Men are morons." she said
"I don't need to see you to kill you" Abarhi growled, reaching out to flicks mind and attacking it. Abarhi dissapeared into the shadows as well.
Julius sighed "Yes they are, lets just hope they don't wreck my place" he growled.
Ketsuri walked towards Roan, sword drawn.
Flicks mind was like a whirlwind that simply sucked the fire inwards and shattered it into pieces, he was far to erratic to place. Flick just laughed, however the Ketsuri's power had to go somewhere and thus Flick fell from his hiding space with a large bang. He landed on the floor a little dizzy.
"Wow". Nathan was suddenly sat next to Roan, staring at the battle field."He like, fell from the ceiling, is he a builder, with, maybe...oh..a leak to fix".
Roan looked at the new comer. "Are you going to try and scare me to death to, or do you have more sense than that?" Roan knew the had no plans on hurtung her, just wanted to vent and scare her a bit. Althought, their pride was getting in the way.
"That's enough Ketsuri" Turna growled at the door. Ketsuri froze, turning to see his old master. Turan set Nadya down "Go wait over there by the girl" he said quietly to her.
Abarhi lept at flick with a flury of blows directed at his heart "The shadows won't save you this time dear shade so stop hiding an lets dance the dance of death tonight"
Flick held his hands out, he caught Abarhi be the hands, his own fingers winding between his, he felt his own fingers break because of the force of it. He flung Ketsuri in the air and backwards almost breaking Flicks back as he slammed them both hard onto the floor.
Nathan just hoped up and down."Body slam, except, backwards, or dear, what would that be, slam body maybe"? Nathan suddenly realised no one was paying attention to him, he pouted and patted his bright green waist coat, he had gone for flair today, a nice olive green waist coat, black and white strippy shirt and some rather nice patchy trousers.
Roan sighed. "Turan can you please get them all to shut up." After having to put up with the other three men she missed him. He didn't induce her head ache. She also smiled at the young girl.
Abarhi landed with a crash onto a table, breaking it as he hit the floor. He stood, dazed as blood trickled from a head wound caused by the table.
"As you wish" he said to her before looking at Ketsuri, drawing his sword in time to deflect a blow ment for his heart. He grimaced as it cut into his shoulder "You're not welcomed here Ketsuri" he said panting from the pain poisoned? he thought, startled by a strange feeling coming over him. His body fought it "What is on the blade?" Ketsuri grinned at him "Secretion from a fire toad i found in a swamp" Turan smiled "Glad i'm immune to it then" Ketsuri's eyes widened as Turan sent a blast of fire at him, burning his arm and left side of his body badly. Turan stumbled back alittle "Leave now while you both still have a chance to live"
Flick wasn't far off of what Abarhi was feeling, he too was holding his head, slowly standing upright."Ok, that wasn't a good idea". He turned with a smirk on his face, expecting to see Abarhi rather knocked out, he scowled as he saw the man standing."Fine have it your way". He stood up straight, he fluck an arm back, black smoke began to swirl around his finger tips creating a poisonous mist.
Nathan looked at the girl, he wondered over and waved shyly."Hello". He smiled pleasently, he reached into his pocket and brought out some sweets."Here you cane have some".
Roan was now getting mad. "I told you to get them to shut up, not kill them. Duck tape would have done the trick." Roan swore she heard a someone say "What's duck tape?"
Nadya looked at Roan and then at Nathan softly. "Hi...I'm sorry.... I don't like sweets...."
Abarhi took out a small rope coil laced with a leathal nero toxin "Drown yourself in your own poison" he said softly, and as if it where living the chord lept towards flick, each tiny razor laced with the deadly poison. He sent a gout of flame at flick.
Turan looked back at Roan "Say what? Only way to get people to shut up is to get rid of them, and these know nothing other than fighting" he said with a tone of disgust for the combatants. Ketsuri flew at Turan, and the two where soon locked in a deadly dance.
Flick dodged to the side quickly leaving small whisps of smoke behind him, he used the sole of his boot to kick the poisoned razors away and then stamp down on it haulting its movement, he then used his free hand to sheild the fire, he winced as the flames burnt into his palm.
"Oh". Nathan looked down at the sweets, he let his hand tip to the side, the small candies scattered on the floor. He watched them."What a sad day". He bent down, now repicking them back up one by one.
Nadya knelt down, and helped him pick up the candies.
Abarhi appeared in front of flick throwing bolts of fire and lightning in rapid sucession. Ketsuri and Turan continued their deadly duel, each fighting with two swords. Ketsuri blocked both of Turans' blades, sending a kick into Turans chest, and subsiquently sending Turan through the bar counter and into the wall. Turan struggled to stand as Ketsuri brought his weapon down hard, only for it to ring out against Julius' blade "That's enough, now get the hell out of my inn!" he growled as a fire whip appeared in his hand.
Nadya looked up at Julius and at Turan, she held what candies she had picked up in her hands.
Nathan smiled and took them, he placed them in the pocket of his waist coat, he yelped a little as he heard Turan get throan into the bar. He ducked his head a little as some wood came crashing his way.
Flick kept dodging them, finding it increasingly annoying due to Abarhi's proximity, he quickly flicked backwards, he clapped his hands infront of him sending a sort of shockwave towards Abarhi, the power behind it evident by the fact it was tearing up the flooring it passed over.
Now Roan was fuming, Men were totalyy a hundred percent idots. "I need to think of a way to end this." Roan looked around the room and spoted a huge tub filled with water. she tried to think of diffrent ways she could move it, but nothing came to mind. Finally she knew she was going to as for help. "Nathan, Nayda could you please help me move that?" She pointed towards the water tub.
Nadya nodded. She stood up and moved to help Roan.
Nathan saw Nadya was helping, so he helped as well, pushing the water tub.
Turan stood, pulling shards of glass out of his side and back, bleeding from several wounds. Ketsuri backed off "Flick lets get out of here, we can't win this" he grinned before slashing Turan across the chest. The wound bled, but not enough for a chest wound. Ketsuri looked for a moment before realizing he had cut through armor.
Right after Ketsuri cut throu Turan's armor she, Nathan, and Nadya, which the little girl was suprisingly strong, manage to get the tub all the way over towards the men. "On my count. One, Two, three." They heaved the liquid; however, Roan noticed to late the the liqiud had a strange tint to it.
"That's not water that's!....." Julius called out before they dumped the liquid out. Turan staggered back, feeling his muscles begin to seize up from the wound as blood now covered most of his clothes. Abarhi sent more bolts of fire at Flick, sending them at his hands, feet and chest.
"Uho." Roan said when the water slpatered on the men. "Um Why do I get the feeling that wasn't water. " No soner later all men stoped what they were doing, and Turan's wound healed.
Abarhi spluttered from being drenched in water, and Turan staggered forward noticing his wounds had healed. Julius sighed "I was hoping to sell that an make some changes to the place"
Nadya's eyes widened at the blood. "I... I... I..." She started to walk over towards the men.
Turan eyed her "Nadya, you ok?" he said breathing heavily. He had lost alot of blood and it was beginning to make him dizzy.
"Turan I think it's the blood." At that moment Roan realized that little Nayda was actually a vampire. "Nadya don;t go after poor Turan. I bet his blood taste like........." She tried to think of a deappatizing food. "I'm sure it taste like dung."
Turan smiled "Nadya, awaken from your thirst Nadya" he let his blood pour into a cup before staunching the wound and offering it to her "This you can have as it's no use to me" he sat down. His eyes widened at a shard in his side "That doesn't look good"
Ketsuri winced as the ale bit into his wounds "Flick i mean it this time, lets go, we'll get the little brat to do our dirty work" he was refering to the Prince of Griffon.
Nadya grabbed at the cup hungerly, hurried off to a corner, and drank it all.
"Is she going to be okay?" ROan asked, worried about Nadya. "Are you going to be okay." She asked, worried about Turan as well.
"She will be" Turan walked to another corner, trying to hide the blood coming from his mouth. He was healing fast, but the glass shard had run deep into his side. Julius, recognizing that somthing was amiss walked over to him "Sit down Turan, i'll patch you up...again..what the Hell where'd that come from?!" he exclaimed taking the glass shard from him. Julius sterelized a needle and thread before he began sewing up the wound "You've lost alot of blood...for god sakes man hold still!" he chided as Turan winced.
Nadya looked over at the corner that Turan was in, and licked her lips. Her eyes held a hunger in them which was slowly dying away. "Tu..ran..." she whispered.
Turan stiffled a choice word when Julius jabbed the needle against his bone "That'll do Julius" he said through gritted teeth. He turned to Nadya "Are you alright?"
"I...I... hadn't...had.... in...along... time..." she said softly, looking towards him. "Th..thank... you..."
Roan walked over and Hugged Nadya. "It was an accident, but from now on you have to eat regular. As long as this doesn't happen again you are just fine. now I'm going to et some ground rules, which if they aren't followed I'll hand myself over to Flick and Ketsuri. One, there will be no killing for food or revenge. I know a time will come up when there is no other way, but it is a last resort. Two, Don't ignore me." She shot Turan a look. "And three, and most important, don't lie or try to hide things from me. I have a canny ability to know when you do and it urkes me. Is that understood?"
Flick followed Ketsuri as the two left, he laughed as he went, covered in water."Thats was funny". Were his last words.
Nathan watched as they left."What a strange group of people". He had no clue what had just happened, though he had followed his orders some what.
"I'm...I'm... dead now...." whispered Nadya.
Roan shot Nadya a look. "Technally you are; however, you still have feelings, emotions, thoughts, ideas, and dreams. That makes you a live in my book."
"I think you're alive". Nathan smiled and poked her in the forehead."See, I just touched you, if you were dead you wouldn't have felt it". He poked her again and again and again."See, dead people dont feel pokes to the forehead".
I will be hunted, just as my family had in the past... Roan heard Nadya's voice in her head. Nadya just shock her head at Nathan with a slight smile.
Roan smiled at Nadya. I'm hunted everyday, and wll be forever of all my existence I have is right. We can be hunted together Roan hoped Nadya could hear her thoughts, just this once.
Nadya nodded to Roan.
Turan was in a foul mood, and he knew it which only irritated him more "If you knew anything about those two, you would not say such things. Your purpose for being here ensures that your torture and subisquent demise would be far from fast, and humane" he said stiffly to Roan. Pain shot through his body. Pain, frustration, and remorse from being unable to reign in Ketsuri...again.
Nadya looked sad and scared by what Turan had just said.
"Julius is there anything that you can give him for the physical pain?" Roan asked. "Nadya just ignora what he says half the time. I get the feeling he wallows in self pity of the past rather then live for the future."
wallows in the past instead of lives for the future? please Turan thought sourly. Julius looked at Roan "No i don't, and i'd becareful with your interpretation of his moods and reaction...maybe when you've had your chest stitched back together after being slashed by a poisoned blade you'll understand" His voice was not at all unkind, merely correcting her gently.
Turan looked at Nadya "I'm fine little one...it just burns like hell. Somehow those years of building imunity to various poisons paid off...never thought it would" he sighed heavily whoever doused the blade in venom certainly wanted the target dead he thought as another spear of pain shot through him.
Hmmmmmmmm. Roan thought of how Turan's pain could be lessened. "Nadya is it true that vampires' fangs have a numbing poison in them to paralyze their food?"
Turan looked at her as if she where crazy "There's a reason why i gave her my blood in a cup and not straight off my body, but yes i suppose it's worth a try. That is if it's not to much for you Nadya"
"I don;t like being treated like a child. Why do you have to Criticize me? You can;t seem to contenplate that I might have good ideas." Roan flustered.
"Roan" Turan said gently "Letting somone who drinks blood to survive bite you usually isn't a good idea. It is true that there is a numbing agent in a Vampires bite, but blood is what we might call an opiate. Somthing they hunger for"
Roan looked at him in horror. "You thought I asked her to bite you? I was suggesting we find a way to extract the venom without any teeth and flesh meshing."
Turan laughed "Yes i thought you where suggesting that. Hmmm, well it's never been tried before. It could easily work, however the hardest part would be diluting the venom enough so that it would only numb the wound and not paralize the entire body...believe me that is not fun at all. Unless you like having absolutly no control over your body for five minutes"
Roan snorted. "I kind of like the idea of you not having any control over your body."
Turan raised an eyebrow at her "Yes, because that'd just make me a useless peace of meat. I've used Vampire venom before on darts...it's very effective. And before you ask, no i didn't kill to get it. I bought a vial of it off a Vampire"
"Useless Peice of meat? Where did you get that from. Even paralized your valuable. Look at how many times you have manage to keep me alive, and it's only my first day here. You harder on your self than a hormonal, ditressed teenage girl." Roan said; however, her eye lids were starting to get heavy.
"I think you missed what i said...paralized means completely incapacitated and entirely unable to move...so yes in effect completely useless" He laughed at her remark "Thats being alittle harsh...or at least compared to some it is"
"Please... just stop fighting... I...I want to help but not if it's going to start a fight..." Nadya cried out, and then ran, tears in her eyes.
"Let me go get her Turan." Roan said. "She has probably been with out friends or companions for so long she doesn't know what friendly bantering is. Plus your not in any shape to be walking around.
Turan nodded "Abarhi" he called. The lithe assasin appeared behind him "See to it that Ketsuri or any of his cohorts don't approach this place" With a nod, Abarhi was gone.
Nadya peered in through front door. "I...Turan... I don't want to go... I'm sorry...." she whispered.
"There's nothing to be sorry about Nadya" Turan said gently. He took off his shirt and mail armor underneath, revealing a pattern of scars and gashes across his back and side "Julius do you have a light shirt i can borrow? These are all torn so just until i fix them"
Nadya went over to Turan slowly. "I'm sorry still....I didn't want to start to go.... crazy..."
Turan smiled "You don't need to be afraid Nadya. I nor anyone else here will hurt you"
Julius began picking up the broken bottles and putting back the tables.
Nadya nodded, and went over to Turan, sitting near him.
"I envy you for being able to remember your past, your family" he said to Nadya. He draped his cloak over her "Julius you coming with that shirt? I'd get it myself but even i don't know where you stash your personal things"
Julius eyed him "You mean you don't want to show off your battle scars to the ladies...my my, modest aren't we" he said with severe sarcasm "I'll get it as soon as i'm done cleaning up this mess...all things considered it's not to bad" he sighed, melting the glass into one clump using his fire ability. He tossed it out the window, before turning to the shattered table "Tell your apprentice that he owes me a table fixing"
Nadya held onto the part of the cloak Turan had placed around her. I wish somethings that I could forget....the screams... the clashing of swords...
"I only remember waking seven hundred years ago, on a river bank a months' walk from the nearest place of human habitation....and i foud out when i got there that it was a border outpost guarding against the terrors of the wilds" he placed an arm on her shoulder.
Nadya leaned against him, watching the others. I'm scared... I haven't had so many know what I am....only thoses that I have feed on....who are now...
"Dead? Well perhaps some secrets are better left that way. Like i told you Nadya, from me, my apprentice Abarhi, Julius and Roan....you have nothing to fear" His muscles tensed slightly. Somehow he remember the feel of somone leaning against his skin, but as with everything the memory was long forgotten. Only the memories and terrors of the haunted northern woods surfaced no matter how sweet the memory.
Nadya nodded. "Thank you Turan... you are a... good friend...."
Turan smiled "I try to be" he heated a glass of liquid after scenting it to make sure it wasn't anything unpleasent "care for a glass of warm water?"
Nadya nodded, taking the glass. "Thank you..."
"You cold?" he asked her. He took a swill out of a mug Julius gave him and regretted drinking it so fast "You did that on purpose you cheeky..." he stopped himself. Julius laughed at him "Hey you wanted a glass awhile ago, and i promised you one" Turan rolled his eyes "Next time when i'm not so parched dry?"
"No..." Nadya said slowly.
"You alright?" Turan felt a cold breeze lace across him, colder as it traced across the deep indentations on his skin that marked scars he did not remember.
"Yes.... Turan I'm ...."
Turan gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze "Nadya?" he looked around to see if anything had startled her.
Nadya looked up at him. "Hmmm?"
"Nothing, thought somthing had scared you to cut you off mid sentance"
"No...I'm sorry I worried you...." Nadya said, looking down.
"You apologize for to much Nadya" he said softly. The pain was now nearly gone, though he knew all it would take would be a slap on the shoulder and he'd be in enough pain to vomit. Luckly he hadn't eaten in nearly two days.
"I..." Nadya nodded.
Roan Hugged Nayda. "Here you are a friend. Now I know your upset, and I don;t mean to push you, but Turan is in a lot of pain. Is there any way we can safely extrat your venom to numb his pain? Then we all sould get some rest."
"I... could I have my glass...?"
"Sure." Roan handed Nadya her glass. "This wont cause you any pain will it?"
Nadya took the glass. Her fangs then grew out. "I don't know...." she said. She started to milk her fangs til there was a 1/4 of the cup full. She retracked her fangs and she set down the glass. She started to rub her mouth.
"Are you all right. Do you need anything?" Roan asked as she handed the glass with the venom to Julius to dilute. "When You put that on his wounds make sure you knock him out so he can get some rest too. I'm sure Abarhi can guard the inn for the night."
"I'm.... okay, miss...." Nadya said.
"I'm glad. You could use the rest to. Here." Roan handed Nadya her key to the room she was heading to. " I'm sure I can get anouther one or if it would make you feel better we can share."
"I... thank you miss....you're not scared to share with a vampire...?"
"Goodness no." Roan chuckled. "I grew up with just my mother so
I know what it feels like to be alone. I had to work to help suport ourselves, so I didn;t have a lot of time for friends or flirting like others my age."
Nadya nodded.
Turan smiled, taking the cup gently and diluting some of the venom. The rest he put into a vial. The venom worked better than what he had remembered it working "Thank you Nadya, do you want the rest back? If not i have a few uses for it that'll be more than Irritating for corus...especially if we use it at the ball" a mischevious grin passed breifly across his face.
"You...you can keep it.... I... had never done that before... so... I don't know... what it could do to me...if I drank it...." Nadya said softly.
"Great." Roan said with a smile. "But now it's off to bed for every one. We can disscuse our plans in the morning."
Turan nodded, and headed up to the rooms. "Sleep well..."
Nadya waved to him, and waited for Roan.
"night Turan." Roan said, kissing him on the cheek, then went to her room with Nadya. "I hope you sleep welll."
Turan paused, another memory yet as with everything else no face or name to it, just a sweet memory before the nightmares of the woods set in "Same to you Roan, wake me if you need anything...or just ring the bell for Julius"
"Night Turan..." Nadya said.
"Good night little one..." Turan said with a smile and nod.
