2003-11-14 [Pnelma Tirian]: I don't think that people should say "VOTE FOR ME!!" anywhere in the house. Maybe they could put that they are in a contest going on and people are voting right now so go on and vote, but self-advertising, I think, is cheating.

As others had said, as long as they don't ask for votes, but simply advertise the contest, then it's ok. I put down in my house which contests im in and if they are voting or not. 99% of the time I don't get a single vote.

2003-11-14 [Farewell]: well id have to agree with the its ok to put up the contest in your house, even include a link or whatever. but like in my case, i always say, check out contest whatever and dont for get to vote when to poll opens. or i tell them its entered and they should go check it out. i think its wrong however for people to say to vote for them in whatever contest. whether its in their mood or posted somewhere in thier house. and for those with multiple accounts all voting for themselves. they should be banned from town alltogether.

Because I think some people take this way too seriously and they should know that - if they win - it's only because they advertised for themselves and maybe not because their art is actually good. Electric manga probably set it up like that because they don't want anyone stealing their bandwidth. I've also seen people link from deviant art. Bandwidth is not free, people! You're ripping off sites by doing that! You need to either link from your own site, or *gasp!* upload it onto here and like it that way! Either way, I think there should be a rule or something prohibiting people from direct-linking other sites except their own. Because most other sites don't allow that anyway.
