Avilion Shore, East

The lapping waves on the shore are the only sign of peace, as the horizon is left with a dark cloud lingering out in the ocean. Though the darkness of the island afar is foreboding, the ocean itself is rather peaceful. The sandy beach a reminder of the pleasent santuary Avilion serves.

A bloody seal skeleton lies in the sand...

Retracing her tracks in the sand along the shoreline, Tierra picked up her small tune again. Though she took notice to scan the area in case the recent Kelpies had returned.

Though there was a dead body of a kelpie, it was nothing much more than bones covered in crabs and shore birds at this point. Tierra's butchery of the meat kept it from luring larger predators and scavengers to the area, making it relatively safe to travel through again.

2006-08-05 [Priest Kel]: Um...that's not a defensive action. That's another attack. You have to make your defensive move first, and then wait for that outcome

2006-08-05 [Kamona]: ? I'm confused. My character gets 4 actions per turn... Adaman sudgested after I attack I leave if I wished a few of those actions open to help dodge, ect... ? unless I understood that wrong?

2006-08-07 [Priest Kel]: But he posted that you have a defensive turn in which you are allowed one action. You have not taken that turn.

2006-08-09 [Adaman]: Defensive turns (ie: (Tierra's defense, 1 action)) are specifically for defending by using weapon defense to block damage (1 action per direction defended against, & per weapon) or to dodge damage completely. (moving 1 space away, using 1 action, requires an agility vs accuracy roll.) Still confused?

2006-08-09 [Kamona]: ... Very ><

2006-08-09 [Adaman]: Okay, simply put defensive turns are when your character is attacked. When you have actions saved up for defense, you can defend or dodge voluntarily. When no actions are saved up, you have no say in what your character will do. It's good practice to save up actions when you're fighting many enemies, since you are likely to be attacked many times and dodging will allow you to escape 1 space away from the attackers causing them to chase you and waste actions (unless they are smart or ranged). So far, Tierra's been saved by her higher agility and the Kelpie's poor accuracy but when surrounded all those Kelpies get to attack which increases the chances she will be injured. If you attack in a defensive turn, you put your chances back to fate and she will only injure the creature if you have high counterattack chances (which Tierra has only the standard 1 in 6). I give you 1 chance to redo a turn I think could end horribly, so if you want to rewrite it then I'll allow it this once since you're learning the system.

2006-08-10 [Adaman]: Heh, once I mentioned the 1 in 6 chance of countering, Tierra of course does it.

2006-08-11 [Priest Kel]: Lol Of course, that's normally how things work

2006-08-13 [Kamona]: So wait... where it says "(Tierra's Defense, 1 Action)" does that mean that I have the single option of making a defensive move like trying to dodge?

2006-08-13 [Adaman]: Yep, dodging is movement in defense. Defending is using the defense of your weapons or armor to resist an attack. Since this attack isn't the conventional physical attack, you might want to think creatively.
