Take a screen shot of Elftown (don't save it so that it gets compressed or anything, just take a screenshot and paste the image into photoshop). Then use the color picker to find the correct RGB values. You'll see that you're off and that my vaules that I posted were correct *sighs and stops watching the page since it's driving her nuts*

Everytime I check they are perfect and I'm using those RGB values. Here is a screen shot of my colour picker after doing what Cali said to do:

2004-07-21 [65tyjvw45b]: Yeah, I know, [acyaws]. I can see them onscreen as being darker without checking the values. the "I Love Elftown" one appears to be lighter instead of darker, though. Do my backgrounds stand out any? No one has told me at all, if they do.

2004-07-21 [65tyjvw45b]: You know, I wonder if Windows and IE are coded differently with the colours from version to version and compared to other OS and browsers? If my version of IE shows the RGB colours I'm getting and someone else's broswer is showing a different RGB value then maybe that is it? They both may be reading the hex code differently and getting a shade different in the colour?

2004-07-21 [65tyjvw45b]: Well, I upload my images to the wiki pages themselves. I've not seen and colour distortion at all on the pixel level. I upload and download one image and it retains its original colours. I do know that the R:173 I have in Photoshop will change to R:172 after I convert it to uncompressed .jpg file format. If I try using the RGB values you guys are putting up I get backgrounds really off colour after converting to uncompressed .jpg files.

2004-07-21 [65tyjvw45b]: Yeah, I have the CSS file. I always work in RGB. I put up my half and half image. Its at the bottom of my Elfhouse description. Can anyone tell a difference? Mine is on the left and the other is on the right. I can see the one on the right but not on the left.

2004-07-21 [hanhepi]: ok, on the rabbit on your house, there is a slight color difference. you know how if you lay a piece of glass on something there is a slight change? its like that.. only not as noticable. the rabbit background is a hare (sorry.. had to do it) lighter than the description green.

2004-07-21 [65tyjvw45b]: Yeah, on the rabbit there is a different lighting effect that is causing that look. I used the render light filter on it. That's why the slipper feet are darker and the top of the pic lighter. I was hoping it wouldn't effect the other layers, but it looks like it did. :\ I think I might upload a lightless version soon.

The ones I made and have posted here on Elftown are copyrighted to me because I made them presonally and did not photo-copy or digitally copy them from another source. "Art Paul" created the original Rabbit Head used by Playboy Enterprises. However, a trademark is something completely different.

2004-08-07 [65tyjvw45b]: That would be a transparent GIF image. You need a program that allows you to make them. Such as Photoshop. You have to add a alpha channel to the image for most programs. Other programs only use a colour picker to tell what the transparent parts will be. Look on www.google.com for, transparent gif tutorials.

2004-08-07 [65tyjvw45b]: I also wanted to mention for those that have an alhpa channel enabled program like Photoshop for making transparent GIF images. When you make you alpha channel the basic setup is black and white. The parts of the alpha channel that are black will be the parts visible in your image. White is transparent. Shades of gray from light to dark gray will be partially transparent. The dark the more visible it will be. Test you images in a wiki of you own first to see if you did it correctly.

2004-08-09 [65tyjvw45b]: Basically, if you are going to be making a huge bunch of images even after you have made 20 or more then ask for one. Otherwise, people will only get one when the normal pages are getting too many images. To help with that more subsections may be added instead. Like the dividers section could be seperated into several subsections.

2004-08-15 [Skydancer]: A point... if the images are for the use of all elftown, then arrangments should be made for one that has the priv to upload them to elftown. Having them on an external server will seriously pull bandwidth from that external server and screw up a lot of houses if that server becomes unavailable. Just an observation.
2004-08-15 [65tyjvw45b]: That's very true. Photobucket I think limits individual accounts' bandwidth. When that is exceeded the images don't load for a hour or more, since the account is shut off temporarily.
