What's your name?:
Nikki Rossignol

What is the story behind your user name?:
When I was very little I would see little red and green spirit creatures in the woods. I called them Brimskis and began drawing pictures of them at a very early age. The Brimskis in the woods behind my house were my very first playmates. I feel that I owe them much of my creativity and passion to create. When I start a new painting it's the same feeling I would get when I would spot a Brimski in the woods. I cannot see them anymore but in some ways I think that painting is my grown-up way of looking.

Where do you live?:
I just moved back to Montana, which is the place where I was born and my natural environment. I was living in Los Angeles and felt like a grizzly bear in a zoo wishing I could just maul all the on-lookers... hee, hee not really. But I am much happier surrounded by wilderness and mountains.

What do you do for a living?:
I make stuff. I work as a freelance illustrator. I do album covers, children's book illustrations, concept art, and so on. I also make costumes and jewelry. Sometimes I land little dance gigs and get paid to frolic about.

What are your hobbies?:
I enjoy a good woodsy frolic. I also like hiking adventures, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, climbing trees, snowboarding, crystal hunting, waterfall swimming, dancing, and searching for vortexes.

How did you end up on Elftown?:
My husband was working for a social media company and found out about elf town through a client.

What do you like most about fantasy: writing, images, reading etc.?:
Reality is just a thin sheet puled over our waking eyes. Fantasy allows us to unveil our sight and float into other worlds. Fantasy is really just magical theory.

How were the graphics/pictures in your house made?:
Mediums? Well I work mainly in watercolor and ink as far as painting goes. When making jewelry I like to take apart old stuff and reassemble it into something new. I also work with the things I find in nature like quartz crystals, acorns, pinecones, feathers, and stones.

Do you make your own costumes?:
I do make my own costumes and my husband's too!

Would you consider yourself a professional artist?:
Well... that's a big question! I get paid to make art and I do get by on it... but I consider illustration as more of a craft. What I mean by that is that I don't aspire to be shown in galleries (although it would be nice). My passion lies within the illumination of stories and the making of books.

Do you take commissions for pieces of art?:
Yes I do. That's the nature of working freelance.

What is it you do mostly on Elftown?:
I really enjoy looking at the art and photographs folks post in their wiki pages.

Is there a particular thing you like about Elftown, such as a specific wiki?:
I really enjoy the featured art page.

Is there a member whose house you really like yourself? Why do you like that house?:
I really like the art of Future Dictator especially the first painting. The expression and color use is very very nice. The symmetry is somehow gracefully stark and reflective of the expression of the woman.

What is your message to all Elftowners?:
Keep making stuff and finding outlets for your creativity! When one outlet grows stale find your way to another. Keep exploring worlds called "make believe" who knows, you may one day find that your magical vision is not so far from some secret truth resting in a nearby parallel universe!

Which 2 pictures of you can be used for featuring you on Mainstreet?:

Whatever you'd like. Could one be a painting though? You choose.

2011-07-02 [wicked fae mage]: I'm not good at selecting pictures. One can be a painting or both if you do not wish to have your photo on main street.

2011-07-03 [wicked fae mage]: They will work :)
