City of Midgard
Midgard, the capitol of Avilion and home of the Fellrise Humans. Midgard means "middle garden", and still retains the rite to this name by means of vineyards and delicate ivy hanging from rafters. Midgard is the capitol of mankind in the eyes of the Avilion nation. To the other nations in the world, Midgard is merely the central point of an imperial kingdom. The city has an industrial feel to it, as the center of dwarven advertisement and architectural advancement over the centuries of Midgard's development bring about the city's personality. Built in stone and industrialized in Iron, it is the heart of mankind known as Midgard.

Beowulf, with memories of the elf city still fresh in his mind looked at the signs to find the Academy. Once he had gotten his bearings, he left for the
Midgard Academy.
Beowulf quickly moved through the Town Square, looking for signs of the knight's guild. Seeing a sign pointing to a district to the north, he followed the street in that direction to the
Midgard Knight's Guild.
Beowulf entered the Town Square and waited patiently for his troll companion.
Raitzu followed after the hunter, and stretched his big body when he reached him. Upon finishing, he let out a short yawn and scratched his back. "So who're we escortin'?"
Beowulf looked up at the troll and smiled. "I am not quite sure yet, but he is a scribe. That much I do know. That means that in battle he shall be useless and just in case we do get ambushed, he will have to be guarded closely. This way," he said as he moved into the
Midgard Academy.
"Perhaps we shoul' hide him in mah backpack? Nobodeh will notice 'im then, hehe..."
Raitzu chuckled and followed the hunter. He wondered where they were going.
Üsserhadd returned to the city, wounded and battered almost beyond recognition. Still standing tall, and with a large talon sticking out of his pack, the knight did not return alone but with a mage who seemed near starved but very grateful.
"Thank you sir, I'll be on my way. Keep a look out for a escort mission on the board, I'll advertise it in hopes that someone like you will be there to bring me across the peaks."
Thandis said, and walked on towards the
Midgard Academy.
"Damn, this city ain't nothing but trouble."
Üsserhadd said, but cleared his throat and spat a wad of mucous onto the cobblestone pavement. The knight stretched and had a look around the town square. His hunter ally should be around, probably would have returned before him. The knight shrugged his shoulders and figured he should report to the library about Griffins. It was something to pass the time anyway, and so he too ventured towards the
Midgard Academy.
His Troll feet were faster than those of his companions, and
Raitzu arrived outside first. "C'mon ya guys, Get on move on, we ain't got all friggin day ye know!"
"Impatient Troll."
Üsserhadd said, trying not to make it sound like an insult but the frustration in his voice made it believable otherwise. "I know you're eager for blood, but we get more money from live bandits than dead ones." the knight said, checking the recent changes to the town square postings, "We should probably invest in some nets, cuffs, or something."
Thomas the scribe exited the Academy after the knight and Troll, walking alongside Beowulf for most of the trip. He spent those moments informing the hunter about how the king was to be informed about their quest, as it was very important to set up a trade route with the elven city. The fact that a guarded path would be the result of their charts meant that eventually it would be safe to voyage there and back. Once he arrived next to the Troll and aspiring knight, Thomas sighed with relief and lifted his first scroll and began charting Midgard. "Patience, give me a few moments to start us off, then we can head on to Halasgadd." he said.
"Damned day of Alexia, this is bullshit."
Üsserhadd grumbled, "If he keeps jotting notes down at every location like this, we'll be attacked for sure." The knight was growing in frustration, but sighed and patted Raitzu's arm. For some reason, the knight related to Raitzu's impatience and overall personality. It was his hotheadedness that had him removed from the training order and command from the military, but most of his personality developed as a mercenary in the frontier. "How good are you at drawing?" he said, followed by a look at the massive troll with fat fingers and claws.
"Regardless of how well either of you draw,"
Beowulf interrupted, "our job is to escort Thomas, not draw the map ourselves. If I thought that a map not drawn by a professional could be considered coherent and followable, then I would have done it myself and nigh have even recruited the two of you." He sounded rather impatient himself, more with the slight lack of discipline of his two comrades than with the map maker. Although after a few minutes of tapping his foot and holding his spear he looked at the scribe and asked, in a rather hostile tone, "Are you finished yet? Surely a map of Midgard and Halasgadd are not needed seeing as they are settled already."
Raitzu followed Usserhad's look towards his hands. "Well, I cannah draw maps, but I can do war paint! I'm quite good at tha', actualleh. Learned it as a lil' kid. An' jus' for good recor', I like fightin', but I ain' bloodthirteh. If y'all wan' te capture tha bandits alive, I'll try not to break them in itsy bitsy bits. But ye know, some o' them wusses be quite fragile, so I might break them by erm... 'acciden''. Ye know?"
"Fine, but you're taking the smaller share of the bounty for the 'accident'."
Üsserhadd said, reasoning out a deal with his fellow fighter. Oddly enough, the brawling knight seemed to easily relate to the Troll. It might have been that he spent a good number of years of his recent time in the Frontier working for a goblin moblord. He turned towards Beowulf who seemed to be steaming from the ears and replied to the hunter, "I wasn't suggesting that at all, heh." Waving his hands around and smiling, Üsserhadd was obviously lieing and did not do much to hide it.
Thomas sighed at Beowulf's remark and took the time to reply, "Midgard may be the starting point, but this town square has a decent map to start a template from. It will make the time spent charting the path itself shorter." He took a moment to point out the drawing on the post, and then tapped his brush on Beowulf's shoulder, "That artist did a much better job at accuracy back in the days when the empire was strong. Starting from that is going to be much easier than mapping every zone seperately."
"Just remember that we have other places to go in order to head out,"
Beowulf told the scribe. He seemed to have calmed down, but not by much. He pet Blaze on the top of his head, and hoped that the scribe would hurry.
Though her cloak was wrapped firmly about her,
Tierra’s form was still ill concealed. Wandering the city she found her way to the Town Square. The new smells and sights triggered her curiosity immensely, and her inner whelp was filled with excitement. So much so, that she nearly ran into to idle standing Troll, Raitzu.
Üsserhadd sniffed the air as the cloaked figure passed. "
Smells familiar. Almost like a Gnoll." he whispered. The aspiring knight was close enough to Raitzu to catch a whiff of the passing figure, and her snout sticking out from her cloak identified her as a Taur of some sort. Üsserhadd let it slide, he was busy with another quest at the moment to be chasing any tails.
"There, all done."
Thomas said as he plopped his pen into an ink bottle and rolled up his map scroll. "Let's move on shall we, there is plenty of light out today." the scribe gleemed with excitement, somewhat of a novice at exploration.
As Usserhadd,
Raitzu paid little attention to the figure, only saying: "Watch yaself!" when he was almost run into. "How much supplies will we be needin', ya think? O' course, I dun mind goin' out righ' now, but we'll need ta hunt fer some food."
"How much money do you have?"
Üsserhadd replied. His pockets were mostly empty, but then realized that Beowulf owed him some for the estoc he purchased not too long ago. Not wanting to leach off his hunter ally, the squire let it slide for a moment when he might actually need the extra money.
Startled,
Tierra skittered off into a building’s shadow giving the group plenty of space. Quickly, her attentions were diverted to the wondrous smells emanating from the
Midgard Bailey Marketplace where she then wondered off to.
"'nuff For some food, an' I gots some rats, hehehe."
Raitzu grinned. "I ain't plannin' on spendin' alot o' money on food though. I be savin' up fer thin's ye cannah fer free as easileh as food."
Kaj'ir looked up and down the streets for a moment seeing what was about. After a moment he headed towards the
Midgard Academy.
Lingering ever more, the Dryad
Jutaneru followed the Bengal swiftly to
Midgard Academy.
"We may need to acquire some traps as well as food,"
Beowulf said. "But Raitzu is right. We can find food easily in the forest, especially with Blaze. He can find it and we can kill it. The scribe will be mainly useless in such matters, but I guess we shall have to fend for him as well. We should have enough for now." He said this last bit as he passed them and began to walk down the road towards the
Midgard Fiefdom: Halasgadd turning only before leaving the city to speak a few simple words, "Well come on, we can not live forever you know."
"Right, right."
Üsserhadd groaned and tapped a fist onto Raitzu's elbow, "C'mon Trolly, we'd better get marching." The squire lumbered off, with a sudden grumbling belly. "I guess I do need some food in me." he jested, and tried to catch up with Beowulf on his way to the
Midgard Fiefdom: Halasgadd.
Thomas headed off towards the
Midgard Fiefdom: Halasgadd as well. He did not speak at all, focusing more on the organization of his artistry pouch.
Exiting the Academy sooner than expected was the mage Thandis. No one had really noticed him, particulary since all who would have recognized him just exited the gates to the west. He stood and waited for his new escort to arrive.
Raitzu looked up again, after having spotted a large Bengal warrior and watched him going into the Academy. "Whaddaya know, I ain't tha onleh 'beast' aroun', that be one big kitten. I'd love to do some sparrin' with him! Oh, right, escortin' tha scribe. Wait up!" He yelled out and ran after Beowulf, Usserhad and Thomas.
Reaching the Town Square yet again,
Tierra Paused for a moment. She was unsure of where to go or what to do. Should she stay and help the Knight’s guild for perhaps some bit of Cr? Or Should she go explore more of the lands that she had only heard of in stories from her Tribe? After a while, her curiosity had taken the advantage of her. Picking a random direction, She decided to make her way east to
Midgard Fiefdom: Nitannia
Looking more than a little dazzled,
Rinji entered the Town square from the southeast. He had just reached Midgard, and it was a long journey from his last stopping place, which was a port town to the southeast. There he had heard people talk of the sheer size of Midgard, but even then he wasn't prepared for the urban city. Rinji shook his head in disappointment
; large cities weren't the thing for him. However, he was running low on the pocket change, and this was the most likely place to find some spare cr. A quick glance at the posters around the square gave him little hope, though. He doubted he was much of a match for many of the jobs. Rinji shook his head again, and left to the south in search of easier bounties he might practice up on before tackling the new creatures in Avilon. It was a far stretch from his mountain home in Andoria, but he hoped to find something suitable in Midgard Fiefdom: Aaronville.
Kaj walked towards Thandis and stood behind him. He looked around for a moment before speaking. "Where is it we are going?" He asked.
"North, unfortunately it has not been long since my last trip to the north." Thandis replied, taking in a deep breath and following it with a equally proportioned exhale. "Let's go to the Midgard Fiefdom: Ferrotin, shall we?" the Mage directed. Thandis moved shortly afterwards, enjoying the chance to get to know his new escort.
Kaj followed Thandis towards the Midgard Fiefdom: Ferrotin, replieing to his comment. " Why then the hasty return North Than?" He asked in his low scruffy voice that echoed a bit from under his hood.
Rinji entered the city from the south, but only paused enough to find a signpost to the marketplace, and shortly left again, this time headed to the Midgard Bailey.
Esadoh, Entering the city this Limoniad elf stares at the intricate architecture for he has never been into a big city before. He paces up to the message board and scrolls through the choices.
Esadoh, After taking a quick look at everything Esadoh turned course to the Midgard Bailey in search for something interesting to look at.
Esadoh, after returning from the bailey quickly strolls down another street hopefully to find more adventure in Midgard Fiefdom: Alexander Harbor.
Rinji returned from the Bailey, at a loss for where to head to next. Thinking that perhaps it would be a good idea to find a local archery range, he made that his next destination. Of course, being new to the city, he had no idea where he might find one. After a short pause of thought, he decided to ask a local on the streets for directions.
"Archery range, eh?" the local replied. "Might want to go that way." they said, pointing southwest, "That's where most of them elves live 'n the fiefdoms. They're fond of bows 'n' such."
Rinji bowed in thanks to the local and took his advice. As he headed southwest, he noted a street sign that indicated he was walking to Midgard Fiefdom: Evindale. "Elves, hmm? I haven't had the fortune of encountering any on my travels, yet. I wonder what types live here in Avilon... Oh, I do hope they are friendly." Rinji mused quietly to himself to pass the time.
