Description
Ahuizotl resemble the average crocodilian, with a few alterations. One obvious difference is their forelegs are shaped like bat wings, which does allows for limited gliding over the rivers. Ahuizotl use them more for quick bursts in speed while submerged, rather than to glide a few feet over the waves. Their surname "The River Wyvern" is a misnomer, as Ahuizotl are completely unrelated to the armless dragons of the Saurian Empire. Instead these creatures are completely related to an ancient bloodline of crocodilians.
The Ahuizotl are a common danger for the Kalonvale people, as they range throughout the great rainforest. Unlike other crocodilians, the Ahuizotl are rarely seen moving about on land. Occasionally these creatures will bask on the banks to increase their body temperature, but they spend a greater amount of time within the rivers and lakes.
Ahuizotl snouts are slightly more stubbed than crocodilians, but still trap victims effectively. Although not as effective at killing as other crocs, the Ahuizotls are more feared for their surprisingly fast swimming abiltiy. An added swimming/sprin
ting bonus is a wide, flat tail if violently flicked will propel them forward at unreal speeds. This is often used to snatch food from boats, riverbanks, or fellow swimmers.
