Name: Kilee Age: 17 Occupation: student-slash-amateur landscape designer for no reason. Ambitions: I'm a wannabe photographer with really not good at the whole starving-artist thing, and I'd like to do anything in life that keeps me outside so I don't lose my mind behind walls.
Q: How did you find yourself on Elftown?
A: I found Elftown through a sort of fluke... I was cleaning up my brothers' computer, took a break, and when I came back Elftown was up on the screen. The person who had it opened was [Thrice], and she explained it to me. I became instantly attached through RPG's and meeting new people (I was tiny back then, and socially dysfunctional, so I had fun meeting strangers XD). I went from completely illiterate and awkward to happily bouncing around the site within a few months.
Q: What do you usually spend your time doing here?
A: I spend my time on ET rolling around photography contests and wikis, as well as stalking people's houses (some favorites of mine would be [Cassave], [Viking], [Doormat], [Tingis], and the ever-loved [smakeupfx]).
Q: Which are your favourite wikis?
A: I love looking at photographer's wiki ring, and I'm constantly updating Share trying to make it more interesting, as well as a few RPG's that I've been involved in (some of which are dead but I still love like Hand-Me Downs.)
Q: Amateur landscape designer sounds interesting, would you like to elaborate on that?
A: My step-father kind of does his own landscaping business, but it's an off-and-on thing. It's a lot of fun for me, mostly because I get to work with a lot of people (though most of them are guys... who... are sometimes surprised that I can lift rocks and use a hammer). I started last summer with mostly demolition stuff (soo much fun destroying things), and then moved around with him working on random things from pools to walkways. Really neat.
Q: How long have you been acquainted with cameras, and what was your first make? What's your dream equipment?
A: I've been dealing with cameras since I was 8ish. My dad had this really old Nikon that I can't remember the exact model of. It was really big, and kind of a dangerous thing for an eight-year-old to use, but he let me tinker around with it. I kind of got hooked on that ever since. My first camera was a Kodak that pretty much exploded after I had it for a month, and then I got a Panasonic Lumix which I had for a long time... some five years I think? But just recently I got the Canon Rebel XSi, which is an amazing piece of equipment. I need lenses for it, though. I'd like to go from having just one camera to having a complete arsenal just for different types of photography, I think it'd be a lot of fun.
Q: You also do some writing. When did you start, and is it just poetry or do you write stories as well?
A: I started writing when I was five, I think. I learned to read and talk about the same time I learned to walk, so I've always loved words and the English language in general. I wrote my first story sitting in my hallway with some crayons, about a cat who goes on a journey to find the Princess's missing crown. The binding for the book was made out of staples, and the paper was ratted and three inches wide, but I got some fun out of it. Now I write mostly poetry because my brain can't really process having time to write stories during the school year. The stories I do write are updated maybe once a month or two when I have time off or a sudden spark of imagination that makes my mind whir.
Q: Is there a story behind your username, or is it just a combination of two things you like?
A: My username has been [Rainbow Dragonflies] for the past year or so I think, I'm not exactly sure where it came from. I've always loved dragonflies - a long time ago a friend told me that they were the beings that "transported lost souls to heaven." I always thought that was pretty cool, and the fact that they pretty much swarmed everywhere in giant hordes. The "Rainbow" part just seemed fitting xD.
Q: Tell me a bit about your dreams for a future profession. Start at the beginning. Did you want to be a princess or an astronaut, or something completely different?
A: XD My future depends heavily on... what I do now. I don't know what sort of profession I want to go in, I'm not really "extremely good" at anything in particular, and I kind of... go back and forth between wanting to be something like a Veterinarian or just spending my life in the Peace Corps. I know I want to help somehow, and I really don't want to be stuck in an office job. I tend to lose my mind when kept underneath ceilings.
Q: Outside of Elftown, what are your favourite places to be - either online or in real life?
A: Outside of Elftown when I'm on the internet I'm either on Myspace, Facebook, or one of the various webcomics I lurk, but I tend to spend less time online during the summer when I can actually travel about. I love going to up to Mount Shasta, as well as traveling down the coast of California, but I'd have to say my favorite places I've ever been are places where I felt I could just get lost in. I'm somehow comforted by the feeling of not being able to turn back and end up where I started. Overall, though, I just love being in new places and seeing the world. I really want to travel to Australia and Alaska, and I'm going to Europe this summer. I'm really excited and ridiculously impatient XD.
Q: At the bottom of your house, it reads 'The Breakfast Club'. This wouldn't have anything to do with the 1985 film?
A: Ee! Yes, yes it does indeed. My life has kind of grown through that movie, at least, the better part of my life. I was introduced to it almost ten years back, and ever since I've kind of always somehow been able to relate to it (as oddly as it is). In a way, my entire family is like the cast, we always get into something odd, are doing something fun, or bickering beyond belief XD. The movie holds a lot of sentimental value, I guess, and I pretty much love all of the cult classics :D
Q: Do you have any critique/comments/suggestions on Elftown?
A: I think Elftown should continue doing as it is, I mean it's changed a lot in the past year or so, and I enjoy getting online to new updates :D I don't know why.
Q: What's your message to all fellow Elftowners?
A: My message for Elftowners is that we rise up and take over the world! :D
... Oh, and also, message strangers more! Everyone loves meeting new people, so spread the looooooove.
