A hundred years after the decapitation of Jenova, strange things begin to happen. People are gaining strange sicknesses; Mechina are fighting against the people. The Avalance group died with the death of Jenova, having no reason to carry on the fight with their children, so the people of Gaia look to a new source of protection. Summoners.

With the new technology and mechina all the planets^*1 can communicate and even people of other races and planets inhabit other home planets. With the new dire need to find a way to fight the new resurected Jenova, the people of Gaia call upon Spira, looking for a Summoner to defeat the extraterestial in the same way they defeated Sin.

^{1* - Since we are blending Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X, and also because we made all races open game, we decided to make it so each of the games (1 through... what is it now? 15?) their own planet, I.E. Gaia and Spira being their own planets. With the new technology, they can communicate with each other and even have people live on the other planets. It's far stretched but it's Final Fantasy! Anything can happen.}
