2008-09-01 [Mom]: That's funny...I got 12 percent only because I think I own each movie on the list and want Jean Luc and Jeff Goldblum.
2008-09-01 [Cia_mar]: yea all the star trek and role playing questions got me ...and a few others as well! lol...(books)
2008-09-01 [Trennas]: i missed out on a lot of points because of the star trek questions! no fair:p
2008-09-01 [Calico Tiger]: My hubby and I both took the test a while back. I'm still about the same as before. I remember he got ungawdly high, though x)
2008-09-01 [Stratakus]: I don't own movies, I'm not a computer geek, and I don't really want a lot of the stuff on the list. What does The Cooking Channel have to do with Geekyness?
2008-09-02 [Perplexity]: I think [Evilmonk] and I own or have burned copies of all those movies and many more that should probably be on that list. >.>
2008-09-02 [Ramirez]: I totally thought I'd score higher lol
2008-09-02 [Grandamelf]: eek! I took the test and got 14.79 but I must be difunctional because I could not get the avitar button to work!
2008-09-02 [Cia_mar]: well now all we have to do is start posting our names and % in order of highest to lowest, and that will prove how geeky we are...(*realizes that making such a suggestion only confirms how true the quiz was about herself*)
2008-09-02 [Ramirez]: lol, but it seems so reasonable!
2008-09-02 [Mom]: When I get some more I will start maybe putting them in some kinds order..XP
2008-09-02 [Calico Tiger]: Because, Strat, oddly enough, a lot of geeks watch food network x) Heck, while chatting on World of Warcraft, you can bring up Emeril or The Naked Chef or any other number of the shows and chefs on that channel and most people know who you're talking about and will go on about who is hawtter and who they'd wanna hump. And even go on about the actual shows and tastiness. I don't understand the phenomena, but that's how it is *nod nods* And yes, I'm one of those geeks that watch food network. *thinks* Except for this year. We haven't had it on at all this year o_O Stupid stupid stupid TV Land. Gawd I hate the television being on all day... *apologizes for tangent*
One thing I noticed about the test. It didn't ask about creating fan art or looking at fan art. Just fiction. Art biggotry! Of course, I guess that's why I also scored points for the "I can think of more things for this list to make it better" option >_> And it left out large anime collections. It also left out being a furry as an option (as they tend to be classified in the geek category).
2008-09-02 [Grandamelf]: I noticed that![Calico Tiger] Not a word about art! the closet thing to it was a trip to the museum on you own!
2008-09-02 [Cia_mar]: too bad we cant post it as a poll graph...(i really have to stop letting my inner geek out so much...*goes and finds duct tape keep her fingers from typing and more geeky suggestions*)
2008-09-02 [moira hawthorne]: i had a BBS named after me!
2008-09-02 [moira hawthorne]: thought of a question.....
use chopsticks and you are NOT chinese
carry some in your pocket/purse to use when NOT at home or at a chinese resturant
2008-09-02 [Balthizar]: [Calico Tiger] is right <<. About the food Network and art thing..
2008-09-02 [Sir. Robert]: ...so is it ok to check the box that says "the value of pi (to 10 digits)" if I know it to 60+?
2008-09-02 [stuffAEAmade]: reading webcomics was on there, but no mention of starting//main
2008-09-02 [Maketsu]: Sir. Robert: Yes and no, by asking such a silly question, you lose the right to tick the box.
2008-09-02 [Papa Don't Preach]: XD
2008-09-02 [Sir. Robert]: doh X_x Well, I would re-take the whole test over again without that box checked, but I am having too much fun with my Physics, Statics, and Calculus homework atm :P
2008-09-02 [Cia_mar]: i suppose taking IQ tests for fun counts as geeky too....lol: http://www.iqt
2008-09-02 [Papa Don't Preach]: haha :P
2008-09-02 [Jitter]: The test also lacked stuff like "You've been talking to your husband through the computer even if you're in the same house, sometimes in the same room"
2008-09-02 [Papa Don't Preach]: Me and my bro do that XD
2008-09-02 [Ariandra]: ARGH! I took the test but this page won't let me edit right now. I am 24.45759% geek, apparently.
2008-09-02 [Iske]: I even talk over the cell phone to my sister when am at her place...
2008-09-02 [Lord Dog]: Wonder if it counts that most people have to text you before they call, granted it is mostly due to work regs. but still
2008-09-02 [Jitter]: I do the pc thing too. I usually am with the laptop in the bedroom where it is cooler so I usually am bored to go all the way to the living room where the other computers are :P
2008-09-02 [Lord Dog]: I am actually surprised at how high I scored, but, with the exceptions of movies they were pretty vague...Of Course the SCA questions boosted my score, especially the office one at one point I held a deputy position in all but two offices in my shire
2008-09-02 [Yuriona]: WTF is the SCA anyways? *blinks* What? I'm not that good with acronyms is all...
2008-09-02 [Nita]: Society for Creative Anachronism?
2008-09-02 [Lord Dog]: The Society for Creative Anachronisms, it is an intenational Society dedicated to recreating live in the Middle Ages. As opposed to the Hollyweird version or just re-enacting. They promote actually researching things to develop personas and events.
2008-09-02 [Yuriona]: Ah... I see. Thanks. =) There's not a lot of SCA events in the area of Canada where I live. Heck, there aren't even that many renaissance fairs here either. I know of one but I've never been able to go. ;_;
2008-09-02 [Kaimee]: Please don't tell me I just got the highest score so far.... >.< I'm totally cool! I swear!
2008-09-02 [Yuriona]: LOL!! Better you than me darlin'. You beat my score by almost 10%. :P
2008-09-02 [Papa Don't Preach]: haha :P
Kaimee? Don't worry, your cool to us :P
2008-09-02 [Cassave]: I could've scored higher, but there was nothing about Doctor Who or Gormenghast geekness.
2008-09-02 [Linn Scarlett]: Oh yeah that would have dragged up my score too :P
Not to mention the fact I just watched the entire season 3 of Bones >.>' in one run
2008-09-02 [Kaimee]: I think it was the reading question section. I think I actually had to tick everything. Actually that wasn't the only section that happened in. But it's a glass is half full situation! Look how good my NON geeky percentage must be! :O
2008-09-02 [Paul Doyle]: [Mom] thanks for the wiki-invite :)
40.8284% - Major Geek
Not too bad for someone who completely missed out on the Internet revolution of the 1990s (and thereby completely missed out on all sorts of online gaming, until now when it's sort of too late to get involved!), and did not get my first PC until early 2003.
[Edit!]
Perhaps intentionally waiting until the pace of technological growth slowed down, is a sign of geekiness? And so is the money I saved by not getting a 286/386/486/58
2008-09-02 [Lerune]: There were a few questions I could have answered on a technical basis (and I guess I show my geekness by actually stating this). For instance, we have a coin collection that I have done some things with, but I didn't actually collect them. Bill and his grandfather did it, but I've been the one keeping the collection up since we got it.
Though the part about learning a mythical language made me feel kinda proud. =oP How many people print out Quenya/Sindari
2008-09-02 [TheRogue]: eh.. I did for a bit. LOL Then i realized it was too much like reading/studyi
2008-09-02 [Mom]: Study! No way...I am playing only form here on out.I mean except those things that must be done. I wanted to go to the Arts college here in town but you have to be a full time student at the junior college. Yuk! Math and science.
2008-09-02 [Yuriona]: I tried concocting my own language once but gave up after a while. I wanted to learn Quenya/Sindari
2008-09-02 [Paul Doyle]: If this counts for anything, I noticed the language spoken by the Klingon Commander at the very beginning of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (you know . . . the one with an incredibly beautiful bald lady, V'ger and a music soundtrack that was better than the film itself) is considerably different than the more developed Klingon dialect spoken by Commander Kruge in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock The language was created by Marc Okrand for that movie. And to further underscore the geekiness . . . many of you probably know Kruge was portrayed by Christopher Lloyd, AKA Igniatowski from "Taxi" and (of course) Doc Brown in "Back to the Future". But did you know the Klingon commander from the first flick was portrayed by Mark Lenard, better known to fans as Vulcan Ambassador Sarek, Spock's father? :P
I've developed the tiniest rudiments of a dragon language for my novel sequence (first novel which I AM trying to get published, despite numerous real-life complications!) but I've neither the time nor the patience to go full-throttle, as (in my mind) character development, plot development and story development are far more important than new languages . . . but then again, that abstaining from obscure synthetic language development might be where I fail as a geek :P
2008-09-02 [Yuriona]: Heh... speaking of Star Trek, I'm going to see Christopher Plummer in 'Cesar and Cleopatra' at the Festival Theatre in Stratford (Ontario, Canada) this Sunday with my mom. Last summer we saw 'Oklahoma' and the year before that was Colm Feore in Coriolanus (which I'm pretty sure I spelled wrong). And [Acerbus] and I are going to see 'Spamalot' in Toronto in October! XD
I want them to bring Phantom back. Seeing it six times wasn't enough and there's no way a movie can compare to live theatre. *nods sagely*
2008-09-02 [Jeccabee]: I had to retake the test...I first did it at 1am and missed a few things. LOL I'm more of a geek now! :P
2008-09-02 [Angel In Red]: ...Oh wai. >.< Mine isn't the lowest score. Tis the second lowest score... oh wellz. >.>
2008-09-02 [Cassave]: That or, you're such an Earthsea geek, you actually went and bought the television miniseries adaptation on DVD, even though you know it sucks...
2008-09-02 [Cassave]: Or you buy both the English and Dutch version (in my case) of your favourite books, just because you want to read them again in the original language.
2008-09-02 [Serwa]: [Angel In Red] you have 3rd lowest now!
2008-09-02 [Angel In Red]: .... Really? *fist in air*
Ahem, sorry for you loss. >.>
2008-09-02 [Serwa]: Poo, thought I won?
2008-09-02 [Angel In Red]: You did? O.o Oh, erm. Congrats!
2008-09-02 [Mom]: That's my man....go Waka! *Squeals*
2008-09-02 [Paul Doyle]: Another thing they should have on the list: Instead of normal laughing ("ha-ha", "hee-hee", or whatever), you throw back your head, open your mouth and go, "LOLOLOLOLOL" like it's a mantra or something.
2008-09-02 [Cia_mar]: concerning the star trek info..
yea i did know that it was mark leonard!
i used to own the klingon dictionary
i got chased home in 6th grade by a boy because i called his mother a garbage scow in klingon (nook dak yash da poll! -phonetically spelled) even though that particular phrase was not in teh dictionary, but "your ship is a garbage scow" was, and with a little studying, i figured out how to change it to "mother".
also had a version of the novel, the romulan way, that had a romulan glossary in the back that they no longer print with it included
own (yes still own) the original star trek technicians manual
have tried (back when i was 12)to build communicators and transporters by reading said manual
have not just one movie script but 3
have rank insignia pins
when i was 12 i shaved my eyebrows just enough to make it look like they were slanted and went to sleep every night pinching my ear tips in hopes that they would eventually become pointed
have met 5 of the cast from DS9
and 1 of voyager (chance meeting in denver airport)
at a convention, made all three ferangi actors, argue over who was going to ask my "good question" (did they find it hard to emote having 90% of their faces covered in prosthetics?) after they had just heard 20 mins of "when quark dies, will rom inherit the bar" type questions
had a friend who had a friend who was kate mulgrew's personal assistant and she would get us the pre production tapings of voyager
we would watch them, no sound effect, blue screens and still able to hear the directors telling them to "shake left" in their chairs when the ship was under attack (was sooooo funny)
when watching the original series at the age of 12,
anytime that they talked about technical or astronomical things, such as Doppler effect, pulsars, dilithium, i always looked everything up in my "atlas of the universe" or a dictionary to know how accurate the show was
learned alot, gained a love for science and astronomy because of star trek
also it was the reason i began to read.... hated to read prior to watching the show
then one day noticed that the school library had star trek novels, i was hooked from then on
oh and star trek next gen premiere the night my mom and step dad got married and i was po'ed cuz i missed the part in the beginning where bones was cameo'd all cuz i had to stand there adn hold my moms flowers
yea i am a geek i know
2008-09-02 [Hendercrazy]: I'm kinda bummed. Thought I was more of a geek than 35%. :(
2008-09-03 [nehirwen]: x) Me too, being pretty much 1/3 geek <3
2008-09-03 [Kyrinn]: 50.88757% - Super Geek Damn... O.o Im scared, lol
2008-09-03 [Calico Tiger]: Just reading through comments since my last (omg, this wiki is busy, hehe!)
"11:34:59 [Jitter]: The test also lacked stuff like "You've been talking to your husband through the computer even if you're in the same house, sometimes in the same room" "
Yes! [Archus] and I sometimes chat through gmail's little chat prog. And we're sitting next to each other. Generally it's something completely pervy or just me telling him "spam". But sometimes I'll be in the bedroom playing a video game while he's out in the computer room and I'll send him a message telling him to get me something XD
2008-09-03 [Lerune]: I was going back over the test with Bill and noticed some questions I had missed somehow when I did it early this morning, so I did it again with a clearer head and got a slightly better score. :D
2008-09-03 [Kaimee]: I'm still totally in the lead. I think I'm proud =^___^=
2008-09-03 [Savien]: I did pretty well, but [Acerbus] is going to own this one.....I mean just check out his ET house.
2008-09-03 [Kyrinn]: I need to get [Yr Wogg] in here. He took the test and scored like a 57.8775 or something like that. :O
Edit: Oops, never mind. He scored just a hair over me. :P
2008-09-03 [Morphea]: "The test also lacked stuff like "You've been talking to your husband through the computer even if you're in the same house, sometimes in the same room" "

Been there Done that :D
We actually talk through our headset also.
I soooo thought my geekiness would be higher :( *sighs*
2008-09-03 [Papa Don't Preach]: haha...
Anyone else talk via vent?
2008-09-03 [Yuriona]: Dang it... now I'm gonna have to redo the test to make sure I did it right! ><
And yeah... [Acerbus] will definitely pwn us big time. He's the biggest geek I know!! (you should see all the old computer parts lying around our place...)
2008-09-03 [Yuriona]: 55.6213% - Extreme geek
Wow... another 6% just because I remembered geeky stuff I used to do but don't any more. (I forgot I ran my highschool BBS in 1995) Why don't they have Pascal on as a programming language??
2008-09-03 [Saffron]: How come I got invited? ><
2008-09-03 [Papa Don't Preach]: [Yuriona] change it on the board then :P show off your geekiness! XD
2008-09-03 [Ariandra]: I realized that I had missed some stuff on the test too. [Savien] was reading off stuff that I didn't remember at all. That's what I get for taking it at 6am while the kids are getting ready for school. I guess I'm gonna have to retake it. Maybe I can make up another 1/2 point and become a "total geek"!LOL I told [Savien] I actually thought [Acerbus] might have made up this test, especially when I got to the question about linux being the best ever!
2008-09-03 [Yuriona]: ROFL! That wouldn't surprise me either though I'm pretty sure he didn't. ;) I've yet to get him to take the test but then again, I'm not sure I want him to... =O
2008-09-03 [Ariandra]: I gained 7 points taking the test while actually awake! Woohoo!?
2008-09-03 [Ariandra]: He's got to take it!
2008-09-03 [Yuriona]: I know but getting him to sit at a computer after work hours can be like pulling teeth sometimes!
2008-09-03 [Yuriona]: You'd think that. LOL!
2008-09-03 [crowfeather]: T____T Nooooo I'm a geeeek
2008-09-03 [Kyrinn]: I geek with pride.
2008-09-03 [Jitter]: So do I!
2008-09-03 [Synsae]: if they asked anything on Stargate or Battlestar Galatica... my score would have been higher... as well as if they said Werewolves along with the Vampire questions...
2008-09-03 [Jeccabee]: hehehe *snort* geeks last longer in the real world! well meaning a geeks career lasts longer! LOL
I'm not as geeky as I thought...but my boyfriend would definitely get a good score! He's a Star Wars nut!
2008-09-03 [Kyrinn]: Im a lot more geeky than I thought Id be. O.o
2008-09-03 [Tingis]: I'm so curious!!!!!
2008-09-03 [Morningstar Rising]: wow I was surprised when I saw my score. LOL
2008-09-03 [The real life Bella Swan]: I have to agree with [Synsae].
2008-09-04 [~Valkyrie~]: I already knew i was a geek. I'm the only one in my English class who knows Douko's(sp?) Sith name is Darth Tyranus.
2008-09-04 [Paul Doyle]: Count Dooku, or, in the overall spirit of "Episode II"---Count Dookie.
2008-09-04 [Paul Doyle]: http://www.wir
This is pure win.
2008-09-04 [Papa Don't Preach]: omg i love the bassoon one! XD
2008-09-04 [~Valkyrie~]: Ah, Dooku, thank you. *sigh* I can tell you just about anything, except how to spell. :p
2008-09-04 [Jeccabee]: I love the DNA one...that's neat!
2008-09-04 [Kaimee]: Hahaha... yeah totally agreeing with [Synsae] here, I sometimes carry Battlestar Galactica around with me in my handbag.... incase I suddenly need to watch it while I'm out.... and to think I've scored highest so far without even any references to that! xD
2008-09-04 [Lothuriel]: LOL I'm a Geek Goddess!! Whooot!!
2008-09-05 [Jeccabee]: wow...your score is either impressive or scary! LOL
2008-09-05 [Lothuriel]: LOL
2008-09-05 [Kyrinn]: :O Holy Monkey Poo Loth!!
2008-09-05 [Lothuriel]:
2008-09-05 [nehirwen]: .... wow....
2008-09-05 [Papa Don't Preach]: woah!
2008-09-05 [crowfeather]: *bows down to Pam* We're not worthy we're not worthy
2008-09-05 [TheRogue]: I shall create a geek wiki in your honor.. someday...oh goddess of geekdom who is fluent in geekenese and geekspeak..kee
2008-09-05 [Lothuriel]:
2008-09-05 [Jeccabee]: aww look she's blushing...heh
2008-09-05 [Synsae]: hmmm, I think I would like to see that wiki...
2008-09-06 [jaraden]: i got 26.32998% on my test.. but to should just how ungeeky i am.. i had no idea how to cross it over to this page.. suckers!!!!!!!
take some of that!! i might me a slight geek, but i'm a stupid one!!! har har!!!
2008-09-06 [Lothuriel]: Speaking of Geekdom....
Everyone who enjoys RPGs must watch The Gamers, The Gamers II: Dorkness Rising and Gamers!
Must watch movies!!
2008-09-06 [Mortified Penguin]: Speaking of Risk, any of you losers ever play? ...*eats ramen*...
2008-09-06 [Paul Doyle]: I enjoy securing Australia, while the uninitiated tries valiantly to defend whatever they call Russia in that game. (I forget the kooky game-only region names) Mwahahah!
2008-09-06 [Paul Doyle]: OK, not so kooky but still sort of weird since they are geographic locations but not the name of countries: Ural, Kamchatka, Irkutsk, Yakutsk, Siberia. Afghanistan is actually on the border of the "real" Afghanistan o___O
2008-09-06 [Mortified Penguin]: I always gp for North America and then build up while everyone else fights...
2008-09-06 [Paul Doyle]: There's nothing like the board game version.
2008-09-07 [Mortified Penguin]: I had nearly 200 people built up in Kamchatka once... Then there was another time that a friend had only one person left before he was wiped out, so I surrounded him and protected him until he had enough people to make it to Australia... then he betrayed me, so I had to destroy him... *eats ramen*... goood times...
2008-09-07 [Lothuriel]: RISK freaking rocks!!!
