No Such Thing as 2nd Place

The world has ground to a halt. Technology is no longer advancing at the pace it was. The solar system has been probed and the governments of the world have reached a peaceful compromise. While the world is swiftly turning idyllic, the people want conflict. Thus, the Race was born.

Contenders from around the world, chosen specifically to represent their country due to their skills and talents, are converging on a single island. There the conditions have been set, the challenges laid and the cameras deployed.

Reach the end and take posession of the Goal. Simple enough. But there is a reason this is called the Race of the Dead. Nothing is sacred, and everything is on the line. So what would you do to win if there was no such thing as second place?

RULES
1) No god modding. Stick to your bio, no one is invincible. People will die.
2) Spelling and grammar. They help. Please use them.
3) Patience. People are not always online. Please wait for them.
4) Attacks. Leave them open ended. No end is predetermined, unless evasion is inhumanly possible (such as a point blank head shot). Additionally, people can be fast, but keep it within reason.
4.5) As a corollary, people will get hurt. Please have your character act human. I cannot tell you whether an attack will hit or not, but you can decide for yourself. This takes maturity, and I will thank you for it.
5) Past tense. This RP will read like a story, and thus you are to post in past tense. No exceptions.
6) Have fun. I created this RP cuz I wanted to do something for no particular reason. If you're going to fight, keep it to PMs please.

Chapter 2: Ready, Set...

The game is set, my friends. The pieces are in place, the board is laid out. Now the fun part begins...

Sun shaded her eyes from the early morning sun, having chosen not to bring sunglasses with her to the Race. It was about 9 in the morning, according to her watch, and the Race was already well under way.

"Alright, here's how it will go." Jack had said the night before. "Sometime tonight all of you will be transported to the Isla. You all will be given a pack with some supplies and a map." He pointed to a larger map hanging on the wall. "You will also be starting in one of these towns here. Damien, you'll be in Naalehu." He pointed to the corresponding dot on the map. "Angelique, in Milolii. Aiden, Ookala. Jorn, Kailua-Kona. Junyo, you've got Keokea. Lucio, you're in Paaulio. Jacky, Kawaihae. Kyle, you're in Panaluu. Sun, you're starting in Honomu..." And on it went. Finally, all of the contenders had been assigned their positions and were sent off to get a 'good night's sleep.'

Some sleep Sun thought grumpily, turning to move farther in to the tropical forest covering the Isla. She had stayed up most of the night, meditating and making sure she had everything she needed. Now it was down to everyone against everyone else. Things were finally heating up.

Angelique remained quiet. She was in a tree right now, having barely scouted out the safe place some time before. She had been waiting, just waiting, making sure she could see every trip wire or hole she could in every direction for as far as she could. Finally deciding she knew them, she soundlessly left the tree and stared on her way, braiding her hair as she went, but her eyes keen for danger.

Snap! Jorn cursed in his head. The branches were too brittle. Searching for a new one, he finally got them to start a very small fire, surrounded by rocks to keep it in line, then left it, traveling through the trees. He had set at least three by now in the still slightly dim morning light, letting people guess where he was. Finally finding a stream, he crouched, watching the fish, thinking quickly of the best way to catch one.

Jacky walked along beside a path silently, taking in every detail, whether small or big. She kept a constant watch for traps and wires that would give her away. Her assault rifle out and ready to fire at will. Her trained eyes caught a gimpse of something through the bush and realized it was a fire. Her eyes narrowed as she turned and walked in the opposite direction, "Either someone is incredibly stupid or thinks we are stupid." she thought as she made her way through the bush and away from the fire and any other enemies.

Not too worried as to set up a fire quite this early into the day, Aiden set out to make a small, secretive shelter in which he could stay for a few days, gathering logs, vines, and large leafs that he could throw togeher a little hut with. as well, he would have to trap the woods directly around where he was going to put up camp, just to stay safer.

Lucio reclined on a mostly sound section of roof, basking in the sun. When they had dropped him off, he had scouted out the surrounding buildings, then chosen one that he could get on top of and still have a good vantage point. He half closed his eyes, like a cat, crossing his legs at the ankles as he listened to the pulsing silence around him.

Damien listened intently from his vantage point of the tree. His eyes were open, scanning around him. In tropical places trees were more dangerous than the ground. Most predators like snakes and monkeys would leave you alone if you walked along the ground, but up in the tree not only were you food but also a threat. Everyone seemed intent on being the last person standing by killing everyone else around them rather than working together and being the best. Damien hadn't expected such a selfish and stupid attitude but he was quickly adapting. He would not take anything for granted. Slowly and quietly he made his way down the tree. The brush was thick around him and the going was not smooth.
