The Patrol Squad are people who have read, understood, and accepted the Uploading Art Rules. They have proven themselves helping out the Town Guards by making many useful reports. The are appointed by the Guards when they feel a user is suited for this title.

2007-05-12 [Sunrose]: Kirsten Dunst, from Spiderman :)

2007-05-13 [NOOOPE]: I usually use google. This one just seemed so random I didn't think it would be that easy to find... kinda like when you see obvious stolen anime art, and you don't know the name of the anime, so googling "anime" would lead you nowhere...

Kinda like [Vhnori Valmos].

And finally, does [Nandeyanen?!?!] sound absolutely ridiculous to anyone else?

(And sorry if I'm totally flooding your comments. Feel free to kick me out.)

2007-07-22 [Sunrose]: When you're reporting writing, please select it as type 'Other copyrighted material' :)
I think for today we actually have enough reports to do, they take a long time to fix and we don't want other more important reports to disappear in the heap :)

2007-07-23 [Stratakus]: ~Rubs hands together evily~ New Rules. I feel all tingley on the inside. Finally an end to the Motorcycle story, mile long houses of song lyrics and the like.

2007-07-23 [Ihsahn]: LET THE GAMES BEGIN LAWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2007-07-23 [_habnabit]: [illegally insane] doesn't like the patrollers. I asked him if he had heard of the patrollers, and he said:
"So idiots, like yourself, can feel important about yourselves since you couldn't be real guards and tattletale on every little thing you see wrong because you can't learn to just let things go."
([70354495@])

2007-07-23 [Ihsahn]: Its a typical response from a teenager. hes entitled to think whatever he wants about us, it doesn't affect our lives, if it really bother you perhaps you should report it to the Guards.

2007-07-23 [Sunrose]: I don't think that was so bad honestly, when you are going to message people about their house you will have to take in account that there are those who won't like it.
When they don't want to listen, you simply report them and they'll get one of us on their case.

2007-07-23 [Stratakus]: I usually point out that Hedda, the owner of Elftown, makes the rules and if they want to b in his domain, they go by his house rules, and their "It's a free country" rant doesn't apply nor do we really care if he gets mad because we take down his picture of Good Charlotte or remove his lyrics to some song by Panic at the Disco.

2007-07-23 [Ihsahn]: Informing people like that usually cause tension :/ I know that from experience, I just inform them of the rules and leave them at that, if they don't like it, then they can deal with one of the Guards.

2007-07-23 [_habnabit]: I just thought it was amusing. :P

2007-07-24 [Shainn]: new rrrules new rrreporrtsss... frrresh meeeaat.. bwahahahah... :P

2007-08-02 [EnigmaFlame]: >looks around< Elves...hmph, more like food, haha >flicks forked tongue<

2007-08-24 [Sunrose]: We've got a new report type: 'Copied text'.
Use it ;)

2007-08-24 [Teufelsweib]: whoot, thanks xD

2007-08-26 [Dark Angel]: will be very useful!

2007-08-26 [Sunrose]: We've got enough reports for now, please stop reporting until we've been able to catch up :)

2007-08-27 [Teufelsweib]: Does it matter how long the waiting list is then? =/ As long as the people get reported, I suppose...
oh well, let me know when I'm free to report again =p

2007-08-27 [Sunrose]: The concern I'm addressing are copied writing reports, not other reports :)
The longer the list gets the more discouraging it becomes to even start taking care of them :P
It's not rewarding when you are taking care of reports, and each time you fixed one you see two more were made during that time :P
The problem is that with copied text we have to do everything manually, so it takes longer to take care of them.
It shouldn't really be a problem to report those other people a few days later..after all as we said this is not a witchhunt :)
Plus, there will be a number of people who won't read this and will continue to report anyway.

2007-08-27 [Linderel]: Everyone who reports should have both this page and guards on watch. :P *nods sagely*

2007-08-27 [Sunrose]: I wish they did :P

2007-08-27 [Teufelsweib]: ah.. the manual part must be quite a pain in the ass ><
but I know how discouraging it is to start on a huge list... *points at her ET messages* =p

2007-08-27 [Sunrose]: Yes :P
But we managed to get rid of most ASCII art that way. At some point we will be able to say the same about copied texts :p

2007-08-27 [Dark Angel]: no witchhunt...ohhh *being disappointed* no stakes... no long nights in front of the PC hunting for people....
just kidding, guess there are enough people reading this page

2007-08-27 [Teufelsweib]: I guess most of the major-reporters read this page, yes =p

2007-08-27 [Tyrana]: *Isn't even a 'major-reporter' as far as she knows... just likes stalking* > >

2007-08-27 [Pyro Mac]: Ish reads this page :3

2007-08-27 [Fizban]: *hasn't been able to sufficiently patrol with the whole living away thing...but I guess I get props anyway now cause I am still watching this page*

2007-08-28 [Ultiem]: the witchhunt comment is probably hinted towards me and [Ihsahn]...ah those were the days, when animated images became illegal

2007-08-28 [Sunrose]: No it's not hinted towards anyone in particular. You two weren't the only ones reporting and neither of you have been reporting much recently, not everything is about you :)

2007-08-28 [Ultiem]: no? well thats good too

2007-08-29 [Sunrose]: General note: Please don't take reporting copied texts too lightly.
With many reports I have to sift through the entire house to find what the report is about. If you already know what you are reporting the member for, please refer us to it so we do not have to search.
Many times I don't even recognise the text on the house and have to do a Google-search for each text, to figure out if maybe that is what the member was reported for >.<

In example, [Fear the Reaper] was reported for copied songlyrics and random pasted content.
But I don't see songlyrics or pasted content longer than 4 lines.
The Tweaker list is not on Google, neither is the 8 lined text below it.

2007-09-06 [EnigmaFlame]: Hehehehehehehehehehehe...what fun...ul never catch up to your work now!<img:2706_1128818519.gif>

2007-09-08 [Jitter]: About [Fear the Reaper]'s lyrics: http://www.gettherhythm.com/z/zeromancer/flagellation.html

The real trick with songs is select a lyric and google it with in "" But I guess I should report this way from now on :) makes it easier for the guards ^^;

I also want to apologise for some reports I did, I forgot to select category. Really really sorry about that -.- *slaps own face with hand*

2007-09-08 [Teufelsweib]: What makes it easier for the guards? Posting the report in a comment box..?

2007-09-08 [Jitter]: No, giving the link of the lyrics with the less popular songs :P

(I'm not THAT lame Vork :P)

2007-09-08 [Teufelsweib]: I was already thinking wtf you were up to xD
sorry:PxD

2007-09-08 [Sunrose]: That's what I did Jitter, I do have experience and am a notorious Googleslut :P
I tried a number of sentences but got no match, which is why for these lesser known songs it's better to include the evidence right away ;)

2007-09-08 [Jitter]: Heheh Googlesluts for the win :D (is a proud one herself) I do include links now *nods modestly* By the way I made a report earlier and it got sent twice :/ sorry about that, I have no idea how it happened -.-

2007-09-08 [Sunrose]: As long as it's done for those questionable ones, don't have to do it with every report (considering the majority are clear cases of copied text).
Ah that happens, don't worry about it. Sometimes one member gets reported by two patrollers as well :)

2007-09-08 [Jitter]: Yeah, I include it if there's no title/artist and I haven't heard of it before :)

Okay! Thanks!

2007-09-23 [_habnabit]: Whoops.
I guess I'll start making my reports about pasted stories more specific. Sorry Sunrose!

2007-09-23 [Jitter]: We were talking about songs :) The stories are usually easily recognised x) (a guy and a girl blah blah)

2007-12-19 [werethylacine]: Although the picture in [princess_ of _darkness]'s first slot could be her own, my instincts say not. Yet it's so generic... can anyone else's eyes shed enlightenment?

2007-12-19 [Sunrose]: Btw, we have a new report type to use when your report concerns copied text. Everything that falls under rule G-5 can be put under this.
It's at the bottom of the list called 'copied text' :)

2007-12-20 [werethylacine]: Durr. Thank you, Sunrose, I didn't notice. ^_^;

2007-12-27 [Anomynous]: Is there any way to see a member's file history? Without being a guard, that is.
Hypothesis: say I thought someone's photo was out of line but wasn't sure and went to check my "Idiot's guide to patrolling" and by the time I returned (s)he'd already changed said photo.

2007-12-27 [iippo]: Hmm, no, only guards can do that. If you had kept the exact URL link to the image somewhere, it would still work, but without it, you can't find an image someone else has uploaded.

2007-12-28 [Anomynous]: So the solution is... bribe a guard. Righty-oh :p

2007-12-29 [Sunrose]: If you thought the image was out of line you could report the member and refer to the image.. :)

2007-12-29 [Stratakus]: Bribing Guards doesn't work. Now Seduction... that's another story.

2007-12-30 [Paul Doyle]: There are several forms of seduction. If the physical, intimate variety is not appropriate or feasible, try alternative, more platonic (if not wholeheartedly innocent!) routes. For example, you can artistically salute Calico's stripey tiger-cat bum. I've gone that route, and let me tell you---it's a good thing! :P

In any event, leave Guard-privs to the Guards :)

2008-01-17 [Sunrose]: [EnigmaFlame]: Please don't chat on official pages, go to wiki's like 'now' instead :)

2008-01-27 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: ha! I'm retired.. and I just returned to ET to discover that.. ah well. I've made a whole bunch of reports in the last few days.. so whatever.. Don't need a badge to be helpful. :P

2008-01-27 [Anomynous]: Y'know... I'm starting to think people are actually respecting the rules around here. I haven't had much time lately, but I click the "random member" button every so often, and do the occasional house-zapping, but everything looks straight. In that sense, I'm kind of happy with the "veteran" status :)

2008-01-27 [Sunrose]: @Scarlet: It's a brutally honest evaluation of report activity, you've made 1 report in 2007 and 4 in 2008 :P
@Predator: I totally understand they can be hard to find sometimes, but there are reporters who have proven it's not impossible ;)

In any case, the status change is nothing personal. All it's meant to do is signify which Patroller is reporting to us on a very regular basis. All your past efforts, and possible future efforts, are still appreciated and respected through the Veteran badge :)

2008-01-27 [Shainn]: well that's okay, no worries. badge is nothing, the town is what's important ^^
though, I was in the army for the last six months, it be a bit hard to write reports while one's at a frontier garnison.

sooo... any chance we're gettin' pension? *grins sympathetically*

2008-01-27 [Sunrose]: Haha :P

2008-01-28 [Shainn]: ahh.. well I tried ^^

2008-01-28 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: lol I know..I wasn't complaining.. just observing. :P I didn't realize that I had been gone so long is all.. a lot of things happened is all.. and now I'm BAaackk! But don't worry.. I never expected to be an official patroler anyways.. so it was all just a perk. :)

2008-01-28 [Paul Doyle]: *clambers in with a walker, a hunched back and a long Sigmund Freud-ish beard* *quavering voice* "Eh . . . is there a chapter of AARP for us retired veterans types, and where the hell is the bathroom? My bladder can't take much more of this . . . what was I saying?" *clambers away*

2008-01-28 [Sunrose]: Hey, if it turns out you're reporting daily again, we can always put you back up there *^__^*
Real life matters are more important though, we understand that fully :)

:P

2008-01-29 [Fizban]: Lol! Wow...sounds funny to be called a veteran of anything at the age of 19 XD. But I suppose if we twist it into ET years, I have been on ET for 4(ish) of the 6(ish) years it's been running. As I am sure most people on the VT list have been around that if not more.

2008-01-31 [Anomynous]: Well, with mixed feelings I have to say I'm back in business. Crime's shown its ugly face around ET once more.

So my question for to-day is: How many pics were allowed in the photo/drawing slots + commets? As I recall, the marker was set at 5. Correct me if I'm wrong.

2008-01-31 [Sunrose]: Actually I thought [Hedda] set it to 1 image per slotcommentbox, but some people found a way around it. There's no rule about this though :)

2008-01-31 [Anomynous]: Ok. But some people have 15 of them or more... now, that's just wrong, if you ask me.

2008-01-31 [sequeena_rae]: I'm sure he changed it a while ago so that you couldn't get more than one picture in there and no more than 4 lines of writing...

2008-01-31 [Sunrose]: He did, but some people have found their way around that and some people might still have it from before he made that setting...

2008-01-31 [sequeena_rae]: Oh I see :)

2008-01-31 [The Scarlet Pumpernickle]: ah... a question I hadn't gotten around to asking... woot!

2008-01-31 [Fizban]: Also, it may appear that they have many images, when In reality its one image file, that contains the graphics for several, thus legally getting around the rule. I don't know what size limitations Hedda set up, but if they stayed within those, that might be a way they are doing it.

2008-02-01 [Jitter]: The best would be if the img codes wouldn't work there, it makes even pretty houses ugly :(

2008-03-09 [dark starlight]: Do people who post half-naked pictures and advertise they want to cyber not drive all of you crazy??

2008-03-09 [NamelessMerc]: I tend to ignore their profiles in general...?

2008-03-09 [Stratakus]: I love them. It gives me fuel for my wikis. I find so many bad ones while on patrol.

2008-03-09 [Teufelsweib]: Hmmm... the ammount of people posting naked pictures of themselves on ET isn't as bad as it used to me, I think. Or at least, I seem to stumble less on those houses...

2008-03-09 [Stratakus]: Most have moved on to htp://fake.swedma.com where the uploading art rules don't seem to apply. But it keeps them from using Elftown as a cyber community at least. Less houses to report for "This is my body" when it's clearly taken from a professional modeling site. When I do find a house like that which doesn't seem to be owned by a horrible person, I send them the link to Fake and hope they will just go there instead.

2008-03-09 [Fizban]: Also, the elftown application I would say, where you have to get passed to get into ET, is weeding out a ton of people I would say as well. Some people who only want to use this site for such things, aren't so keen on trying to get in.

2008-03-14 [Stratakus]: [Dragon_Lord05] Anyone else notice that the face on that soldier picture is just a REALLY crappy photoshop? The head was blurred and then the eyes, nose and mouth were cut off some other picture, pasted onto the face and then blurred around the edges?

2008-03-14 [windowframe]: How do you know the facial features were cut off another picture., and not just blurred like the rest of the image?

2008-03-14 [Stratakus]: Observe the flesh color of where the eyes are. Right between them. You can still make out the line where the flesh from the eye area is horribly merged into the rest of the head which is a completely different color. Not to mention the earlobes have even been blurred. The only parts of that head not smudged and blurred are the eyes, nose and lips. I've used the same technique, though more believably, with my own facial features over Patrick Stewarts head

2008-03-14 [windowframe]: You may be right, but it's hardly "REALLY crappy" But that's beside the point. I'll have a look on google for the name on the badge in the photo, (unless you can point how that's also a really crappy manip :p)

2008-03-14 [Stratakus]: I've been looking for it. I find plenty of listings for Stephen Filby but never that particular picture. But I want to know why so much editing was done to the face and even the ears. It can't be a simple acne cover.

2008-03-14 [windowframe]: Looks a bit young to have so many badges. But then, I don't actually have a clue what any of the badges are. Maybe he got them for wiping his arse. *shrug*

2008-03-14 [Stratakus]: He's got the same picture in his myspace, and the top picture looks like a different bald guy all together. I didn't report it but posted here because I wanted to know if anyone else had any clue as to what the picture looks like without any mods made to it.

2008-03-14 [Ihsahn]: It is a fake nonetheless, No way in hell could he be that decorated at that age, most of them appear to be commendation medals, as well as an ROTC uniform, altogether though, a huge fake.

2008-03-14 [Stratakus]: Yeah I figure he edited his facial features onto a real military man. I mean, even the flag in the background has been blurred.

2008-03-14 [Calico Tiger]: What indicates it's a fake or at least photoshopped to me is the different qualities of the photo. The photo in the area around the uniform and up along the left side all have small white spots, like scratches. Like it's an old image. And yet the face looks like it's all soft and brand new. I have to agree with the surmise from Strat and Ihsahn.

2008-03-14 [Sunrose]: Hmm I don't know about this. It seems he blew up this image <URL:img/photo/149990_1191145912.jpg> and made it a little bit brighter.
I think the reason that the background looks weird, is because he's standing in front of some sort of semi-blurry photo of the flag.
And maybe his scanner was dirty, by blowing the image up these dust parts become more visible.

I don't see why top and bottom can't be the same person. Just different outfit and angle, which makes it difficult to tell.

2008-03-14 [Calico Tiger]: Now see, that bottom image definitely looks real. Blowing it up wouldn't cause the smudging that we see in the image we were discussing that's in his face. Because in that image that you just posted, all that graininess or dust particles are also in the face. Guess he decided to just go smudge-crazy to smooth that part out o_O

2008-03-14 [Ihsahn]: Not stating the pic is a fake, just stating the buttfuckload of award indicate he is, some of those resemble vietname campaign medals oO. Heh even I'm not that decorated.

2008-03-14 [Sunrose]: Yea, not sure what it requires to get the image to turn out that way..

You should ask him what they're for then :P

2008-03-17 [Dark Side of the Moon]: I believe this young man is in the JR ROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp...see the red badge with yellow lettering on the right breast). JR ROTC is a program offered in high schools in the United States. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junior_Reserve_Officers'_Training_Corps The medals that you see can be earned for various activities or accomplishments in the training program. The one at the lower left part of the picture with the green/dk blue ribbon at the top is an American Legion award. I cannot make out exactly what is on the medal but I have one at home very similar to it. Some of the high school students in my town are decorated as much as [Dragon_Lord05] is. I don't think this picture is fake, just a camera trick to make it look soft which they've been able to do for many years.

2008-03-17 [Sylvia Rote]: Has anyone asked him about the photo?

2008-03-17 [Dark Side of the Moon]: I was going to ask the same question.

2008-03-20 [werethylacine]: Someone just got too happy with the blur tool, I think. And the two photos are almost definitely of the same person, although I think he's much older in the top photo.

2008-03-21 [Sunrose]: Please be reminded that quotes up to 4 lines are allowed. Even if it's a chain-thing (after all, people aren't sent this chain to their inbox).

2008-05-25 [Stratakus]: <img100*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/185542_1211541651.jpg> Anyone recognize the signature on this one? [Aidan Aven] has it posted and not sure if it's a drawing or another "I found a cool picture that looks like my character!"

2008-05-25 [Jitter]: No clue but I asked them >:3

2008-05-26 [Jitter]: From: [Aidan Aven] (...I need to Die to feel alive...)
To: [Jitter] (Forza Kalomoira! xD)

Me, am my friends did, The real picture is much bigger... so who are you?

Doesn't make much sense to me :s

2008-05-26 [Stratakus]: <img50*0:http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff4/grey-sister-23/normal_flail_1750.jpg>

I found another image by the same artist but it's uploaded to photo bucket so I can't figure out who the real artist is!

2008-05-26 [iippo]: I think it's safe to assume the character is called Flail then... Whether that is of any help, I don't know. :P

2008-05-26 [Stratakus]: I've looked but it was found on some girls MySpace page. A 27 year old girls MySpace page. Which means we know he's lying but can't figure out who the real artist is. Damn you artists and your stupid Symbols In Place Of Words. Who do you think you are? PRINCE?!

2008-05-27 [Jitter]: tada! http://amrrr.deviantart.com/

I rule <3 xD

the artists is a 24 y.o male from Finland, the ET user is a 16 y.o male from Michigan

2008-05-27 [windowframe]: it magically poofed out of existence. <.<

2008-05-27 [Jitter]: :O

Teach me! xD

2008-06-02 [werethylacine]: The artist's ID on Deviantart bears a striking resemblance to older pictures of [Dinaer], although they live in different countries and all. Just a side-note.

2008-06-03 [Sylvia Rote]: Hey...may I draw a kick-ass image for the patrollers? The guards have some cool ones, and I think we deserve our own. Not that I don't like our current ones, mind you.

2008-06-03 [Calico Tiger]: Of course! More artwork! NAOW! We like having our Elftown pages decorated! I mean.... not overly so, but most of the pages are very far from that XD

2008-06-03 [Sylvia Rote]: Awsome...But I suck at coloring, so they will be in black and white.

2008-06-03 [Jitter]: I can colour it if you want

2008-06-04 [Sylvia Rote]: Ok. I'll post them in my house when I get them done. I'll have a few to choose from.

2009-04-10 [Thunder Cid]: Here is my resignation. See you all around.

2009-05-19 [EmeraldGrizzly]: One day...

2009-05-19 [Thunder Cid]: One day what?

2009-06-24 [Nioniel]: ohhh...I wanna be one!

2009-06-24 [Teufelsweib]: then get those reports rolling! ;)

2009-06-25 [Nioniel]: Already got one today!
:D

2010-02-01 [Lord Josmar]: Would it be frowned upon to just keep hitting the "Next Member" button looking for violations or is that how it usually works?

2010-02-01 [Linderel]: Well, of course you can do that if you're really bored and have nothing else to do. It's not as if anyone can stop you. :P

2010-02-01 [Lord Josmar]: Lolz. Ok, cause im on a lot and dont always have anything to do and want to contribute more to ET.

2010-02-03 [Lord Josmar]: Here's another stupid question: Would it be considered racism to openly list a race or religion in your Dislikes?

2010-02-03 [Janouk]: I don't know about that one..I'd find it racist if someone said: "I hate niggers etc." but I don't think the same about "I hate christians", because belonging to a race isn't a choice you make and being religious is. However, I think both are not that good :(
I do think it's prefectly ok to say you dislike (a) religion though.

2010-02-03 [Lord Josmar]: Well the exact thing listed was Jews and, unless im more ignorant then I thought, they are a race AND a religion. But then again I was so unsure I wanted to check.

2010-02-03 [Sunrose]: http://www.jewfaq.org/judaism.htm
• Judaism has been described as a religion, a race, a culture, and a nation
• All of these descriptions have some validity
• The Jewish people are best described as an extended family

2010-02-03 [Lord Josmar]: Thats why I thought it would be covered under the racism thing but since he only said he dislikes them I didnt think it counted.

2010-02-03 [Teufelsweib]: is it really a matter of descrimination to dislike a culture or people, or is deleting that a restriction of freedom of speech..

2010-02-03 [Lord Josmar]: Exactly. He didnt say anything derogatory towards them just that he didnt like them. But if a person of said faith or race sees that its going to cause problems and etc.

2010-02-04 [Fizban]: I don't know about elftown's official statement on that particular thing. I assume it reserves the right to remove offensive language, sensitive to discrimination topics.

I would say, go ahead. There is nothing wrong with expressing his personal likes and dislikes.

If his page is full of "Kike" or other offensive terminology, then I would say seek out the exact policy and determine whether or not it meets the requirements to be reported.

Yeah, it can be offensive, but swearing on your house can be offensive too, not racially usually but it can be. There is the line between opinion and discrimination. I don't even know what would classify as discrimination on elftown. I mean, its not like they are official, no one needs to like anyone or anything. IF it was hedda and he refused to allow jewish people to participate in an official matter because they were jewish that would be discrimination, but seeing as no ones rights are being infringed its not really discrimination in a visceral sense. Only on their personal level.

Ofcourse, I am just a retired patroller, I don't know officialities.

2010-02-05 [Sunrose]: Generally Hedda really dislikes censorship, but he hates racism and assholishness more. I'm guessing that a dislike isn't serious enough to intervene though. If someone would want to be sure, they'd probably best ask him.

2010-02-06 [Ihsahn]: There is two things I can't stand, people who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the dutch!

2010-02-06 [Teufelsweib]: Geert Wilders = Ihsahn's worst nightmare.

2010-02-06 [Sunrose]: Heh :D

2010-02-06 [Fizban]: Isn't that such a cultural question though? What if part of ones culture is intolerance?

2010-02-07 [Lord Josmar]: Even if its part of your culture its still racism.

2010-02-07 [Fizban]: Racism? We weren't necessarily talking about racism, we were talking about intolerance. And that statement then refers to your intolerance for the cultural ideals of such a culture, that is intolerance. It's like the cyclic "I am racist against racists!" remark, that if we are to first, ignore that racists aren't a race, and credit there hate anyway,...still means that they must then hate themselves.

Ie. Intolerance, to the intolerant...is just that; Intolerant.

2010-02-07 [Teufelsweib]: ehhh as long as he doesn't bother anyone lets just let it be, ok?

2010-02-07 [Fizban]: I don't care either way, it's not my problem. Just playing devil's advocate >;)
Either way, the patrollers wiki is not the appropriate place for this conversation, So I have no problem ending it here.

2010-07-27 [Nioniel]: So are there a certain number of reports one needs to fill out before becoming a Patroller?

2010-08-01 [Teufelsweib]: it's more important that you give the impression that you'll keep on searching and reporting members, to avoid people who report a lot and then stop the minute they get the badge ;)

2010-08-01 [Nioniel]: Ahh.

2011-03-11 [kians mummy]: dont you think Patroller [_habnabit] should be taken off because she has been on in nearly a year

2011-03-11 [kians mummy]: how would i get to become a patroller?

2011-03-11 [nehirwen]: By continuously making good reports to the guards.

2011-03-11 [kians mummy]: have i done well so far, apart from one hiccup

2011-03-11 [Thunder Cid]: Seeing as some of us have been reporting for 6 years and took us just as long to become a patroller. I think you have a little while to go :P

2011-03-11 [kians mummy]: i ment with the reporting

2011-03-13 [Kaimee]: You have done ok, but you could improve by tracking down the pictures themselves, finding their original owners (their websites) or if you can't, making sure that image is widely used on the internet from long before a member started using it.

Posting links to a page of google search results is hard for us to look through, and something we could do ourselves just as easily :(

2011-03-13 [Lord Josmar]: Whenever I search on here, the most I have been getting is little things like song lyrics or other postings that are semi-copyright infringement.

2011-03-14 [Kaimee]: That means we're all doing a great job then, and that members are complying with the rules :D

Please report those song lyrics when you find them though, "little" things that break the rules are still breaking them!

2011-03-14 [Lord Josmar]: I havent been finding any lately, but I have also been clicking "Next Active Member" instead of "Next Member". Guess that makes a big difference, lol. One thing I have always been iffy on was quotes from celebrities/movies/tv shows/etc, what is the ruling on that? I might have already asked that question too, lol.

2011-03-14 [Linderel]: Quoting item G-5 of Uploading Art Rules: "Short quotes, or the likes, that don't exceed 4 phrases/lines/sentences are OK."

2011-03-14 [Lord Josmar]: Ok. I sometimes find the set rules confusing. I find myself rereading them often to make sure im mot misinterpreting them.

2011-03-14 [Lord Josmar]: Ok, I hate to flood the comment section like this, but I just hit a wall (not literally). I have a situation that falls under two rules, but one says its allowed and the other says it isnt. What is the ruling on quotes from songs? Its a quote that isnt too long, but it's lyrics to a song (but not the whole song).

2011-03-14 [Linderel]: I think the part that I quoted applies to song lyrics as well. Would make sense. That's how I've always interpreted it, anyway.

2011-03-21 [kians mummy]: Patroller [_habnabit]. look how long he has been off for

2011-03-21 [Lord Josmar]: According to his house its approaching a year.

2011-03-21 [kians mummy]: so why is he still a patroller

2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: are any patrollers needed on here as i would love to be one

2011-03-23 [Jitter]: You can't apply for it, you have to prove you're able through reporting :)

2011-03-24 [kians mummy]: i have done alot of reporting already

2011-03-24 [Lord Josmar]: Beleive me. It takes a lot of good reports and consistancy in reporting to get it.

2011-03-24 [kians mummy]: yeah

2011-04-11 [kians mummy]: thats much better

2011-05-09 [Lord Josmar]: Ok, I think I already know the answer to this question, but I didn't see a section about photomanipulations in the Uploading Art Rules so I thought I would ask here. A user I have come across does "photo editing" where she takes photos and "edits" them by adding stuff to them or changing them in a different way. Would this be a violation or is it protected?

2011-05-09 [kians mummy]: that is a violation as i got told off for the same thing, may i take a look at who it is

2011-05-09 [iippo]: From the Uploading Art Rules: "- Taking an image and editing it does not make it your own. This includes, but is not limited to, photomanipulations."

But photomanipulation is allowed if you are using your own images or stock images that are free to use for the purposes of photomanipulation (such as is found for example in Reference Pictures or in DeviantArt and such artists' stock image galleries).

2011-05-09 [Lord Josmar]: Hmm...I think that covers two of the tree photos. One of them she took and made it the background and then inserted a woman into it and brightened up the background. Gonna go ahead and send in the report for the other two and mention that one.

2011-05-09 [kians mummy]: good for you :)

2011-05-10 [Lord Josmar]: There needs to be a "Report Wiki" button.

2011-05-10 [windowframe]: You just go to the house of the owner of the wiki and report them. ;)

2011-05-10 [kians mummy]: [Lord Josmar] you are aloud edited pictures in your wiki, ie pics from google, but on on your own profile, the uploading art rules will tell you

2011-05-10 [Lord Josmar]: The only thing that bothers me about that is that there is no option for wiki violation in the report type drop down menu (that I have seen).

2011-05-10 [kians mummy]: thats what the unkown type is for, as they are just violation rules, eg if a wiki witch is not passworded witch has pornograhic images that are not artistic, it will be against the elftown rules, passworded is ok for that

2011-06-23 [kians mummy]: The Patrol Squad are people who have read, understood, and accepted the Uploading Art Rules. They have proven themselves helping out the Town Guards by making many useful reports. The are appointed by the Guards when they feel a user is suited for this title.

2011-06-23 [kians mummy]: this reminds me, have i earnt another badge yet

2011-06-23 [windowframe]: No. :P You need to make around 80 good, accurate reports to become a Patroller. You've made just over 20 so far. :)

2011-06-23 [Paul Doyle]: *facepalm* Here we go again with the mock-extortion . . .

2011-10-24 [kians mummy]: I think that's a bit extreme, that hardly gives anyone the chance, out of all the people on elf12, there is 8 members on here, also there isn't even 80 members who use Elftown in one day.

2011-10-24 [Teufelsweib]: well, if we have so little members in the first place we wouldn't be needing any more patrollers at all than we already have.

2014-10-19 [Ultiem]: you old whipper snappers didnt have it as good as the old days. Back then guards hated me and [Ihsahn] and it was funny.

2014-12-19 [Mortified Penguin]: I'm pretty sure I'm owed a patroller badge.

2015-02-08 [Mortified Penguin]: Still waiting on that patroller badge!

2015-02-09 [Stephen]: Not enough reports filed, Penguin. Gotta try harder. :3

2015-02-09 [Mortified Penguin]: Psh, I don't need to file reports. I get special privileges, remember? *holds up documentation claiming Mort is a special needs child*

2015-02-10 [Stephen]: While none of us would deny for a minute that you may indeed be a very special needs child, this isn't the kind of privilege you're entitled to. Sorry. <img:2706_1128818519.gif>

2015-03-28 [kians mummy]: Hay guys been gone for a while, to come on to see i have been given a patrollers chance, thankyou.

2015-04-03 [Stephen]: Good luck! :)

2015-04-03 [Mortified Penguin]: You too!

2015-04-03 [kians mummy]: Thanks x

2015-04-03 [Mortified Penguin]: You're welcome!

2016-04-11 [Mortified Penguin]: Still waiting on that patroller badge...

2016-04-12 [Alexi Ice]: I'm the only one here so you will prob be waiting a good while

2016-04-12 [Mortified Penguin]: I could always just add the badge myself and let myself into the forums. >:o

2017-01-10 [Ultiem]: I remember when the guards freaked out when me and [Ihsahn] came on, good times

2017-01-12 [Mortified Penguin]: I remember that time you went to Bob's Diner right now. Ah, yes... I remember it as if it were RIGHT DAMN NOW. GO.

Anyway, whatever happened to that patroller badge I was promised that I earned after many years of dedicated service to Elftown?

2017-02-04 [Stephen]: Since Elftown is.. let's say, sleepy, at the moment, the requirements for reports are being changed to 30.
If you think you quality for the new report limit (it use to be 80), leave a comment here and a Guard will look into it. :)

2017-02-04 [Mortified Penguin]: I qualify!

2020-08-23 [Sunrose]: Me too!

2020-08-23 [Stephen]: rotfl
You do both qualify!
