Lands Of The Four Circles: Inkroz
Inkroz; a land of war, terror, and constant violence. The Queen Ophelia holds up the traditions of the royal family for the past seven centuries by forcing martial training for everyone from when they are born. This starts with simply subjecting a child to toys of soldiers, and every child's life is filled with discipline to the smallest detail.
When they are seven summers old, the children, no matter whether boy or girl, are taught the basics of fighting with fists, feet, and wooden weapons. Those who survive the tough training go on to learn the advanced techniques and eventually train with more complex weapons, most of them being metal instead of wood. The now older children are made into a fighting unit with their companions, and the group as a whole then move to the training grounds in the center of the country. After many years there, they come out as young men and women, ready to either fight their enemies at their borders, or to be assigned to domestic stations, such as farming and hunting essential goods that would be needed by any fighting force.
Any other goods they require, the Inkrozians normally acquire during raids against their neighbours. Most new recruits are equipped with scavenged, home-made, or salvaged weapons and armour. No matter the quality, all armaments are marked with the scimitar symbol of Inkroz. This binds the user to the royal family, and is the only uniform piece of the armed forces.
They have no wish to trade with any merchants, and would rather take what they want by force. Although they sound like a group of shabby robbers or ruffians, the people are actually a proud and ruthless breed, not causing needless pain. If they want to kill you, it will be quick and clean. Also, they respect order. An Inkroz soldier will never dispute the word of an officer or go against their orders.
There are a number of notable settlements in Inkroz. Near the Western border of Skavvin, about 30 miles away, is the mountain city of Verune. The main purpose of the city is to be a barracks and standby for forces preparing to assault the Ogar, and as such it is populated by soldiers, smiths, and field doctors. The walls are lined with the skulls of Ogar heads taken from past incursions. In the center of the country is the training camp area, and in the middle of these is the town of Ilira, where the elite troops are trained, and the lessons and training sessions are planned. The Queen Ophelia often resides here in her own private barracks area, where she can oversee the training of her personal guard. Far to the West of here, and to the South, the Southern Front is manned by some of the hardest troops in Inkroz. Here, a line of camps and trenches hold the soldiers as they keep trying to push against the Elves of Whitefield Island, who have taken a large portion of the mainland. Life here is tough, living constantly on rationed meals, and fearing Elves creeping into your trench in the night to slit open your throat. The other notable place is the mighty fortress and port of Tredagar. This is based on the Inkroz side of the Fang Peninsula, and is the Inkroz's main point of conflict with the Ogar. The harbour area allows the pirate and warhips out into the Wide Sea, while the fort itself sends out waves of ready soldiers to assault the Ogar borders.
Tactics against our foes:
Futro: The skills and styles of warriors, as well as the defences they have in place, vary from county to county in this divided land. They are in a Civil War at the moment, but do not let that fool you into thinking that they still cannot fight. The Northern folk are often strong warriors, they have riflemen in the South, and they also have many of their Magi about, whose magiks are very dangerous to cross. Prepare your forces for more orders regarding this land.
Etherealm: The Etherians are also strong in their warrior ways. They are only accessible by sea, and since sea assaults are tactically stupid, beware attacking their lands. If you believe the area to lack any militia support, then by all means raid and claim what you can. If you can salvage any Etherian armour, take it if you can.
Skavvin: Our mainland neighbours, and also our main target. The Ogar may seem a peaceful folk, but they also are fearsome and powerful warriors. Use speed and surprise against them when possible. They share the Fang Peninsula, and that is where we are pushing against them most. We also attempt incursions against their Western border, but since they built the wall that defends their lands so well, we have had no luck with that side of our offensive. We suggest most willing warriors to head for the Fang Peninsula and join the forces at Tredagar.
Whitefield Island: The Great Elves are the only warriors who can match us in speed. Therefore, the Southern Front is a pain in the backside of Inkroz. Their warriors holding us back in taking the South of the mainland takes a number of soldiers that we could use elsewhere. However, taking the South area is essential if we wish to increase our naval fleets, so we have placed there a number of elite troops. Think yourself good enough? The Southern Front needs you!
