Well that's odd. :/ It is probably the idea of ragnarok, though. Too many people have been preached the "fire and brimstone" of the end of the world, so they assume that any religion with their own "end of the world" prophecy is automatically "bad". Sadly, this creates misconception and confusion in large about too many religions. :(

It was started by Gerald Gardner in the 1950s. But there are HUGE differences between Paganism, Witchcraft, and Wicca. If you would do some research (even by reading this wiki), you could find that out. :)

People in ancient times knew no other form of worship than their own, which we now call Paganism. Witchcraft itself has nothing to do with religion at all and can be practiced by anyone with little or no religious ties whatsoever. However Wicca is a New Age religion, no if's and's or but's about it. You may not believe it, but that's the way things are. You can continue to believe what you choose to believe, but that doesn't make it right either sweetie. I don't force people to believe what I believe, but I do present them with the truth when the moment arises. If you don't like it, you don't have to listen, but I'm going to tell you anyway because you need to hear it just like everyone else. I'm not slandering Wicca, either, if you're getting that in your mind. I just don't stand for other's making it out to be something that it isn't, because there are enough people out there doing just that and they've ruined the reputation of this fantastic religion for everyone. We can only hope to repair it with truth.

2007-03-07 [Delladreing]: *shameless wiki plug* Playgans. Mothyr is quite right in her statement about Wicca. Gardner may have said that Wicca was based on old faiths but he lied. Most of it came from myths and his own mind. Wicca is New Age, it is not old world paganism such as the Green Craft tradition. Anyone that believes Wicca to be any older than the 1950's is misguided.

I follow a different sect of paganism that predates Wicca by oh...good few centuries. You're "ideals" are factually wrong. Deal with that.
