a brief history on the rise of the Valghast Empire.

0-47: A young Dragon by the name of Alithanar Valghast rises through the ranks of the human army. A people known only as the xen. He fought with distinction earning the title of Castellan of the city. He establishes a calendar of years, as well as a library, and military institute.

48-107: Castellan Valghast leads a quick and decisive campaign to oust the barbarian tribes from the surrounding mountains. The war is short, but costly. He loses more than fifteen thousand men in a twelve year campaign. When he returns triumphant through the gates of the city, xen elders surprise him by naming the city in his honor. He responds by paying for a memorial Obelisk at the town centre in honor of his fallen men. He expands his empire, improving upon the advancements in architecture and knowledge perpetrated by the highly psychic xen. In their quest for knowledge they reach the boarders of the Crimson river.

108-214: Orcs led by the Black Dragon Arelian burn a trail of death and destruction through the emergent Empire. Provinces are sacked at will and it seems nothing can stop the emergent hord. Alithanar gathers forty three thousand men and leads a devestating campaign against an unprepared Orc army.

215-216: Alithanar, after six years of war kills and is at the same time slain by the Black Drake Arelian. The Orc army is destroyed to a man and driven off.

216-245: The time of unrest. The Elders are divided as to who will lead the young empire. So divided are they that civil war erupts, leading to a divided nation.

246-256: The brief and bloody reign of Castellan Xaphon the mad. His brutal tenure sees the subjugation of two human tribes, and the deepening in rifts between the factions.

257-289: A Dwarf by the name of Gertarn stone hand launches a political and military crusade to unify the shattered Empire of Valghast. He is old for a Dwarf, but as his name would suggest, he was firm of hand and nature. He succeeded in his quest. He dies and is survived by his son Calidar sternhelm.

289-715: The Dynasty of the Sternhelms. The Dwarves see to further expansion of the empire, and it is under them that art work and stone masonry become skills unrivaled by any outside the empire. Armor advances are made, all in all progression is key under the hand of this venerable family.

716: The rise of Varkov the blooded goes unnoticed. A Vampire lord in the north east mountains begins assembling a massive undead army.

728: Varkov unleashes his hordes, catching the empire off guard and winning a quick succession of victories.

732: The Sternhelm stronghold is destroyed. Castellan Sternhelm is the only survivor.

734: After eight years of repeated victories, Varkov's armies reach the City of Valghast and lay siege to it. Castellan Sternhelm by now is the last of his family line. He prepares his men for a final stand.

735: The first level of Valghast is overrun completely. Lord Varkov leads the assault on the 2nd level gate. Sternhelm meats the Vampire lord in combat that lasts for three days. Sternhelm is slain, Varkov though badly wounded proceeds with the assault. A captain by the name of Sephirian, a High elf, kills Varkov. With the Vampire lord dead, his spell is broken and his army dies off quickly. Sephirian is quickly given the title of Castellan and spends the next ten years rebuilding.

745: Castellan Sephirian disbands the council of elders and replaces it with the Senate body. The old elder body revolt. The battered empire is thrown into a twelve year civil war.

757: Serphirian is slain in the final assault on the Elder Stronghold. His armies are victorious. He is succeeded by his son Rie Rakarth.

758-980: The time of rebuilding. Rakarth names himself Emperor of Valghast.

981: Rakarth is assasinated. The assasin is swiftly slain by his vengful son Irielian.

981-1100: Irielian lead a crusade against the northern orc tribes, battering them so badly they become little more than a passing nuisance to even the smallest of villages. He wins the support of the senate and the people, as does his son Arkon.

1100-1110: Irielian and Arkon are both slain in the elven subjugation wars along the coast. Partial victory is acheived through alliances made with the Dwarves and Dragons.

1124: After years of deliberation, the Senate again elects a High elf by the name of Uriel xena. He does not dissapoint.

1125: The reign of Emperor Uriel Xena the wise begins.

1124: The praetorian guard is formed. Xena mandates that it is formed only of the most elite from the legions finest.

1129-1131: Emperor Uriel crushes a Were-wolf invasion in a spectacular ambush battle.

1132: A time of trial again besets the realm. Urkar, once one of the most respected and feared Legion commanders, is now in open rebellion. Deceived by an unknown entity, he now leads 4 full legions in open war.
