2006-01-13 [Konobi]: Ah. Then I shall be able to roleplay as the Tao Sisters. They can't fight, since they're already.. well... dead. Spirits, to be more precise.
2006-01-13 [Faulty Limerence]: Yes and part of RP skills is your skills in battle. They will probably admire being able to take a hit as well as deal them. But they will probably grade more on the flow of a fight and your ability to act in character and not be really general.
2006-01-13 [Kai Crewger]: hmm... would that work, [iippo]?
2006-01-14 [iippo]: Right. Remember that your character is your creative process. Same as if you'd enter a drawing to an art competition. So please! don't judge or be mean to others' entries! People have same names in life, but believe us: if both Camuses would get to playing, we would not be so stupid to put them in the same scene, so you players would not have to deal with having same name. That would not only get confusing and annoying, but also... well, confusing and annoying.
2006-01-14 [iippo]: Also (as recently added to the champion's tournament, sorry for the delay), this character submission round IS judged. Means we will grade them and any character below a certain grade will not get played. This is so we judges don't have to have our eyes bleed watching three Mary Sues trying to have sex with each other. If after this round you have no character to pass, you can not proceed in the tournament.
2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: Ack! Kai! I need to get my other two characters in wikis so I have a better chance at passing! Help!
2006-01-14 [iippo]: Well if you think rationally, it doesn't matter if you have more characters if all of them are bad (=if you can't wirte a character description the way that it'll pass once, why would you be able to make it three times?) We are not having a limit on how many will pass, there is no percentage and therefore there is no 'chance'. All good descriptions will pass, bad ones will not. And if you make one good and two bad, we will be able to deduct that you can only write one kind of bio and therefore might not be very versatile player. There are pros and cons to both having just one and having multiple.
2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: that's what I mean. All of the characters that I plan on using were created at three different times and three different levels of RP experience. So some are better than others.
2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: I don't think you should care if one is good and two are bad. You should still pass the one good one without prejudice.
2006-01-14 [Duredhel]: Uhm... we don't care which player entered the descriptions, all good will pass and bad ones won't, that simple, even if we think the player is not versatile, that won't keep us from passign the good character.
2006-01-14 [iippo]: The deduction about versatility will be off-the-record
2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: that's rather unfair...
2006-01-14 [iippo]: Off the record. Not official. Will not have anything to do with this tournament. A personal opinion. It won't affect the entrant.
2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: A personal opinion will affect further grading whether you want it to or not. A judges duty is to remain impartial, correct?
2006-01-14 [Aradon Templar]: A judge must grade impartially. For example, most of us here have a bias against Mr. Narrator. However, we can still grade him impartially, even though our personal opinion is against him.
2006-01-14 [Duredhel]: Yes, but characters will be graded individually, not by player, so even if a judge has a certain opinion on a player, the judge won't let it cloud his/her judgement, and the judge will only judge one of the player's characters.
2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: Okay but then if the judge thinks you are not versatile in the back of his or her head, then during the RP section, it may affect the way a judge sees a particular decission you have made.
2006-01-14 [iippo]: Further down the tourny, we will judge the player by what is written in the game, and all that matters then is staying in character. So if your character is very monotonous, versatility wouldn't be very in-character.
2006-01-14 [Duredhel]: Most grades will be passed amongst several judges to assure a grade as impartial as possible, try to trust us would ya? we're not out to get you or anything :P
2006-01-14 [Faulty Limerence]: Hahah I know. If you knew me, you would know how rare it is for me to trust anyone. But okay, I'll see what happens. And thanks for the reassurance [iippo].
2006-01-14 [iippo]: No chatter!!! Any such non-question comments to champion's tournament!
2006-01-14 [Shadow-ofDeath]: Wilmarina, that link doesn't work!
2006-01-14 [Kai Crewger]: or maybe [wilwarina] just hasn't put up anything for their chraracter yet
2006-01-14 [Lexi. Short and Sweet!]: it says empty page now though...
2006-01-14 [Kai Crewger]: *shrugs* they've probably just not put anything on the wiki.
2006-01-14 [Blade503]: erm...where do i send a bio?
2006-01-14 [Final_omega]: put it on the wiki page for your cahracter. look above to find out what i mean. just click on a character name
2006-01-14 [Kitsune Arashi]: Where are we supposed to ask questions again... cause I got one.
2006-01-14 [windowframe]: Here is fine.
2006-01-14 [Kitsune Arashi]: Okay, how long can our bio's be? Because Arashi has a lot more to him than I put down
2006-01-14 [NamelessMerc]: o.0; There's a word limit?!
2006-01-14 [Kitsune Arashi]: I don't know, that's why I'm asking.
2006-01-14 [windowframe]: No, we have no limit as to how long a bio can be.
2006-01-14 [Blade503]: unless it's unearthy long and takes about an hour to read :P lol
2006-01-14 [Kitsune Arashi]: Okay, so I'll have to cut his in half... *lol*
2006-01-14 [windowframe]: ... I'm sorry, [Blade503], did I miss the point where you became a judge, and decided how long bios should be? :\
2006-01-14 [Blade503]: oh i'm sorry it was just a joke you know Haha funny? lol
2006-01-14 [windowframe]: Everyone uses "lol" too much - you can't exactly tell whether someone is joking or not anymore by whether they add 'lol' I've seen comments of 'Hey everyone, lol.' I mean, wtf?
2006-01-14 [iippo]: Again, pointless shit-chat got deleted. Keep to the champion's tournament, or your private discussions.
2006-01-14 [Kitsune Arashi]: Um... okay, I was just responding. anyway, I'm good to write a longer one?
2006-01-14 [windowframe]: Your bio can be as long as you want it to be.
2006-01-14 [Kitsune Arashi]: *thumbs up* Cool! Thank you! But I wont make it too long to read, that really has to suck to read so many bios and such and having them all so long.
2006-01-15 [Faulty Limerence]: Yes but a long bio that's good will help keep you from being eliminated.
2006-01-15 [iippo]: And a long bio that's bad will get you eliminated.
2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: so just put in as much as you think there should be for it to be a good bio
2006-01-15 [NamelessMerc]: Aye, it's more about how well you write it than how long it is...
2006-01-15 [Firous]: I'd have to agree. If you write a well written page it's better than 10 pages of ok writing.
2006-01-15 [iippo]: Wow, I deleted all the useless comments. There used to be 17 pages of comment history. 10 pages of chatter! @_@
2006-01-15 [Vameyre]: I know this is probably a stupid and pointless question... But, would I perhaps lose points if I were to have the same first name or surname as another character? I just thought this might induce lack of originality or creativity assumptions...
2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: no. we've already gone thru this with the Camus ordeal, and I think I can say that if you have the same name you won't lose points or whatever.
2006-01-15 [Vameyre]: Alright, thank-you.
2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: no, you do not lose points if you have the same name.
2006-01-15 [Lepellier]: Kage, The Shadow is 1 character....
2006-01-15 [Elwyne]: It's only 3, If you click the links Kage, The Shadow is one character and then the two that follow.
2006-01-15 [iippo]: Fun got over. (Silvie I think I'll hold on to this page *likes le deletery* until people get the gist that no shitter in here) Shadow ofDeath has three characters only, and it's all ok (changing the name of a wiki is annoying as hell because then you end up with two wikis with the same information and that just clutters your wiki-informati
2006-01-15 [~Acidelf3~]: Hey i have a question... when we rp are the judges going to give us a place like you are in a amazon bar ... or are we going to have to base it where ever we want?
2006-01-15 [NamelessMerc]: o.0 The judges choose settings.
2006-01-15 [~Acidelf3~]: Alright thats good. I couldnt find where it said that so thanks.
2006-01-15 [windowframe]: Okay people, can we not read? Please don't post character bios on this page, or link to an RP page with all characters for that RP listed - create a separate page containing only your character's bio, and link that.
2006-01-15 [windowframe]: Why do I have a link to a bloody RP here? Someone change it quick, or I'm deleting it.
2006-01-15 [xido]: If you don't have an adequate char page setup, the WFR Character Template has a coded set of stats and an example that is usable in almost any situation (items you don't use can be deleted, or post 'None' or 'n/a') And no, this is not intended as advertisement for the guild. If you are having issues with what to include in your char bio, there are a lot of things to consider. Any questions can come to me in msg if needed. ;) Good luck, everyone.
2006-01-15 [DragonSorcerer]: how do u make a page with ur char??
2006-01-15 [Wes Foxx]: By going to a blank wiki page and making one :0 but if your typing in 'leet', don't get your hopes up.
2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: to make a wiki page, type the name you want it to have in the wiki search bar. if the page you come to says that it's empty, you can edit it and you'll own the page. I usually put a password on it first
2006-01-15 [Kai Crewger]: what do you mean? like, how much leet must you know in order to not get your hopes up?
2006-01-15 [Wes Foxx]: Not a matter of knowing it; talking in leet does nothing to improove how much people respect your typing skill, and RPing is all about being able to write well. If your too lazy to write out "you" then you're probably not going to pass inspection.
2006-01-15 [xido]: lol! x.op It's tough being literate... you just see so many more flaws than other people.....
2006-01-15 [windowframe]: And now would be a very good time to move the discussionh to the Champion's Tournament page, since I'd quite like to give whoever can't read the instructions at the top of the page to read the comments at the bottom of the page, and change their link, since otherwise, their entry will just... be delete. By a trigger happy me ^^
2006-01-16 [Jewl]: DAMNIT! .....I just got done typing the best char-bio in the world, and what does elftown do? Damn LOSES it!
2006-01-16 [Kim_Lundin]: Happened to me a couple of times, too... really annoying...
2006-01-16 [Jewl]: but I put, like, 3 hours of work into that thing. *bangs head on keyboard* xcvzcvxzbvgfbv
2006-01-16 [Veltzeh]: Type it up on Notepad or something and then just copy&paste it. :)
2006-01-16 [Tainted Guardian]: Yes I advise notpad as well, remember to save it just in case you need it later. Which reminds me when I get home I have to continued working on my other character to put in..
2006-01-16 [iippo]: Or remember to press "edit page" ever so often. That way you don't lose evrything if your compo crashes either (you'll have prev versions).
2006-01-16 [~Acidelf3~]: or change ur personal settings and do the log out after .. as long as you can that way just in case u dont press edit page on time u have extra time
2006-01-16 [~Acidelf3~]: or wont be logged out
2006-01-16 [Jewl]: Yeah, I know, and I was just fine, but I had forgotten to save it in MCWord before pressing the edit button. =p luckily I remember most of what I typed.
2006-01-16 [~Acidelf3~]: good thing.. lolz
2006-01-16 [Jewl]: and I'm saving once every fifteen seconds, too... lol
2006-01-16 [Talkris]: May we put character pictures with the descriptions? Or should it only be the description?
2006-01-16 [iippo]: Picture is ok but changes nothing. It won't be judged.
2006-01-16 [~Acidelf3~]: and plus those of us that cant draw would be screw if ti was necessary
2006-01-16 [iippo]: Judges don't care either way.
2006-01-16 [Talkris]: Fair enough.
2006-01-16 [Haruno Sakura]: Do the judges care if the character has a conflicting personality?
2006-01-16 [iippo]: Like what? Saying he's stupid but really smart?
2006-01-16 [Kai Crewger]: I don't think so. as long as one stays in character, you should be okay...
2006-01-17 [Haruno Sakura]: Okay, thank you.
2006-01-18 [Noexistantanymo]: [iippo] A pity you're not participating with a char, could've been fun to see how skilled you are since you're one of the judges ^^
2006-01-18 [Tainted Guardian]: I figure that if it's your character's personality(s) they wont care, should get you some points for originality though. My opinian as long as the character is interesting it makes for decent play no matter how good the player is. ^-^
2006-01-18 [windowframe]: Of course. <Interesting character post>: I hit you with my sword and you died. </end post> ... No, somehow I think a decent roleplayer is slightly more important in how good the RP is. Cliché characters can be played very well by good RPers. Good characters are just ruined by crap RPers.
2006-01-18 [The Coffee-Prophet]: True that, I've seen some good characters being shredded completely and utterly by powerplaying and bad spelling.
2006-01-19 [~Acidelf3~]: now now lets not get on the spelling issue.. i really cant spell that well.... i play good but spelling is a bit hard for me
2006-01-19 [Veltzeh]: Here, try these: http://www.spe
2006-01-19 [~Acidelf3~]: oh good i will save them and use them ... thanks
2006-01-19 [Haruno Sakura]: I think it's harder to convey a character with a single personality trait that is constant throughout the entire role-playing segment, because you can't change from that single characteristic
2006-01-19 [Kai Crewger]: *nods* I see your point
2006-01-19 [iippo]: No need to fuss over "what's allowed and what's not" -- just do your best with your character submissions.
2006-01-20 [Calico Tiger]: There will be NO more racist/raciall
2006-01-20 [Lerune]: Wow...is the conversation on this wiki always so random? o.O
2006-01-20 [windowframe]: Okay. chatter to>> Champion's Tournament please.
2006-01-20 [iippo]: Silvie -- page yoursa again. Go crazy with delete button.
2006-01-20 [windowframe]: ^_____________
2006-01-20 [Lunnie]: Thank god this whole superwhatever marry popins comments are all gone. o.o -silences-
2006-01-20 [windowframe]: o.o Did someone say something? *innocent blink*
2006-01-20 [Lunnie]: -grins- I knew it was going to be erased! Haha xD
2006-01-20 [windowframe]: *more innocent blinking* o.o Advertise on Champion's Tournament please. Really, is it that hard? Here, comment get deleted, badbad advertising, Champion's page, it stays, better advertising :)
2006-01-20 [iippo]: Pointless comment.
2006-01-20 [Faulty Limerence]: Egh...sorry...
2006-01-20 [iippo]: No, because people will have until the 12th of February to change stuff around.
2006-01-20 [iippo]: Of course we've had browses (possible rip-off-search
2006-01-20 [I'm her Georgia *Peach!*]: sometimes...it IS that hard! XDD but oki. add "ads" to the list of things not to post her
2006-01-20 [iippo]: There is no 'list of things not to post here'. Only related things (=questions to the mods) are to be posted here.
2006-01-20 [windowframe]: List of thigns to post: Questions. List of things not to post: Everything else. O.o
2006-01-20 [Tainted Guardian]: So people have until the 12th to add and edit characters. How long after that do you guys think it will take to narrow down the list? After all 73 people, while a good turn out, would make for a very long and drawn out contest. So exactly how many will the mods be looking for or are you and the others still trying to figure out the right number?
2006-01-20 [iippo]: All acceptable characters will get through, there is no percentage or certain number. We can't know how long this judging will take, because it has never happened before, and I won't start throwing estimates around, otherwise people will hold me to it. It will take as long as it takes, no helping that. We're committed enough to keep the contest running as long as it needs and we expect our champion to be too. Now if you find yourself unable to attend the tournament halfway through, then you can withdraw from the race.
2006-01-20 [Tainted Guardian]: Ah I see, Oh I can easily continue since I get so little in the way of role playing now a days so I will gladly stick around. One other question. Fight to KO or death?
2006-01-20 [Calico Tiger]: Well, it's called a roleplaying tournament, not a fight-to-see-w
2006-01-20 [iippo]: KO? *is slow with abbreviations today* Ah well I don't care what it means, since it all comes down to good playing (so being a good player might call for the death of the character). And one more time: you won't necessarely even end up in a situation where you are facing death. A fight in my iippo-language can mean a game of chess. (Although it would be amusing to have a char die during a game of chess :D)
2006-01-20 [windowframe]: -.- *nods* [Calico Tiger]'s right, [iippo], I think we need bigger text somewhere explaining that what we're looking for is the best role-player, not the most powerful character. -.- The tournament isn't based around peopel fighting each other, that's a very narrow and limited way of juding how good an RPer is. :/
2006-01-20 [Tainted Guardian]: Ah I see, yet a Tourny strait off does suggest fighting so I agree with Silver and Calico. Fighting could result out of roleplaying but that would be at the player's choices. KO means Knock Out by the way. ^-^
2006-01-20 [windowframe]: :/ Well, it suggests a fight, if you definition of fighting is as broad as iippo's - I've yet to see that chess tournament where they have mini battles every time they make moves :P
2006-01-20 [Elwyne]: It probably depends also slightly on the storyline that is set up for us to play on. As well as the character personalities, some might just clash.
2006-01-20 [iippo]: Tournament is a poetic word for contest and people just need to deal with that. :D But yeah, maybe in the first page ORPT, like... a definition to 'Champions tournament'.
2006-01-20 [Lerune]: That might be a good idea to mention, I have noticed in some of these entries, the characters have insane weapons that, as a GM, I would never allow in gameplay, so I think some people feel they have to fight and maim. Won't they be surprised? >:)
2006-01-20 [iippo]: *still dreams about the un-killable troll-foe who will steal everybody's possessions* :P We'll just see how good that knife o yours will be when my npc gets his sticky hands on it. :P Anyway, no more off topic wandering, we will most likely do that addment into the front pages about what is champion... o.O
2006-01-20 [Lerune]: Like the weapon on Ark Shino? That weapon is there for one reason and one reason alone: to defeat the other character, no matter what the cost. Weapons like that are pointless. Why can't people see that weaknesses make your characters better?
2006-01-20 [iippo]: But yet again worth mentioning: everybody mind your own submissions only, the judges will do the judging when time comes.
2006-01-20 [Lerune]: I was only chatting, and on topic as well.
2006-01-20 [iippo]: Chatting => Champion's Tournament. (Silvie is trigger happy in here :P) Questions and asnwers on the other pages, otherwise some questions might go unnoticed when lost in a lot of comments.
2006-01-20 [windowframe]: :O Me? Delete comments? shocking. *giggles*
2006-01-20 [Blade503]: Yeah guys sorry about that i'm doing some editing on him lol :P i made that guy awhile ago never got around to making him not so ultimate >.< i'm beginning to hate people who do that so i hate my self! dmmit! don't worry i have like a week to fix him!
2006-01-20 [Blade503]: okay i'm happy now i fixed him! No to start working on Blade! (my next character!) WOOT!
2006-01-21 [Lothuriel]: I think I have to agree with [Lerune] there. You need to understand that if you wait until the last minute to explain to someone that their character can't have a broadsword of doom that kills the opponent instantly just by looking at it or that their character could kill the world with one word, you are going to run into a lot of un needed drama that will end up sucking the fun-life out of this for everyone...jus
2006-01-21 [Lunnie]: I personally believe that if you do have a broadsword of doom that kills the opponent instantly just by looking at it or that their character could kill the world with one word, you just won't pass the first round. >__>;
2006-01-21 [Lothuriel]: Yes but, my real question, I suppose, is it really fair to wait until that point to tell the person this?
2006-01-21 [Lunnie]: Yeah, they should know these kinds of things before they even entered. They should also be visiting Role playing for dummies.
2006-01-21 [iippo]: The character is the player's artistic submission, a creative process. Sides, we want a good roleplayer and a good player will know that overpowering is bad playing and will not do that. So if a player here thinks their character is how they want it to be and the char doesn't pass, then it just wasn't what we're looking for. Same thing as not all entries in art contests end up on the Mainstreet poll; there is always selection of the best in contests.
2006-01-21 [iippo]: I don't want to interfere with the creative process, so I won't point any ways for anyone's character to be better. It's the artist's decision.
2006-01-21 [Lothuriel]: It is your contest. I won't argue with you. I am only trying to give some sage advice.
2006-01-21 [iippo]: Well, in a way it is also already in the rules. No powerplaying. We're even kind enough to give a link to what is powerplaying. If someone reads the description and then can't link their slingshot of doom to it and add it all together in their head as "this is against the rules" -- what can I do?
2006-01-21 [Lothuriel]: I am not saying you should add more rules.. I suppose there is nothing more you can do short of privately messaging them before it starts. I suppose I am really wanting to see this thing work and i know how petty and ridiculous things can get when certain types are told "you loose"
2006-01-21 [Lunnie]: Seriously, I think telling everyone about their flaws in their characters for this contest is pure bullshit. The rules were given and that's it. This contest is to find out who the best role-playing in ET is, not to help people make better characters in the process. In this contest contestants’ skills are being tested, nothing more. If you’re incapable of going off and informing yourself about the many things you should and should not do on your own, you simply aren’t what they’re looking for.
2006-01-21 [Pinkdonkey]: Maybe you could wait for after the contest to send helpful tips ... It makes me ache when I see some of the chars that are posted here ... but it's true that you don't tell a painter in a contest that the colours he chose aren't right ....
2006-01-21 [Lothuriel]: Ok, that was completely un-needed. My point has been overlooked and you [Lunnie] are turning my concerns into exactly what I am trying to avoid...drama.
2006-01-21 [Lunnie]: -rolls eyes- Anyways, [Pinkdonkey] I was planing on helping the people that would not pass the first round.
2006-01-21 [Lerune]: Having assisted in many official contests, I have to interject. For instance, in an art contest, we don't tell people what colors to use, but we do disqualify participants if their entry does not fit the contest. Some of the characters submitted are a bit out there and the entrants need to be informed that their characters do not follow the guidelines and will have to be resubmitted or disqualified. I have done that in official contests before. If they are serious about the contest, then they will alter the character to fit the criteria and if they are not, they won't and they will be removed from the competition.
2006-01-21 [iippo]: Another reminder: no one has to worry about what will happen in the future of this contest, unless you are me or SilverFire (or one of the other judges at most). We are responsible, we are providing this for the amusement of many, and any single individual who wants to ruin that out of spite or hatefullness will be dealt with by the guards. People who enter contests will need to learn to lose as well. I know it's hard; even I find it hard in art contests when my favourite submission doesn't get acknowledged, but I deal with it.
2006-01-21 [Lerune]: This is the first time we have had a contest like this and kinks are expected -- we have to work together, respectfully and civilly to work out these kinks. That about wraps up my public concerns...any concerns I have crew-wise will be taken to the forums.
2006-01-21 [iippo]: The problem with this contest is that the character is just a part of it. A good player will make a character that will pass round one. And it is the Player we are after here, not their character. This is a difficult contest, and if they can't make a good char on their own, they will not manage the following rounds.
2006-01-21 [Lerune]: And I assume that comment was not aimed at me, because I am council and official contests DO concern me. ;o)
2006-01-21 [Lerune]: Well, if you guys want the extra work, then by all means, continue to allow entries that you know won't pass. I think that is rude. If people entered art contests with pieces that didn't fit the theme and we didn't include them in the poll just because they didn't fit, it would be just as rude.
2006-01-21 [iippo]: And if we tell people what kind of character is a good one, what is considered cliche etc... then we will get swarms of characters tailored to fit that definition, and the definition will become obsolete. Same as if in an art contest the people were told "drawing a bird will get you into better position"; then even the people who hate birds will draw them. Or if in a poetry contest the judges said that they prefer rhyming poetry -- they'd get nothing different than that. (yeah the 'dont worry' comment was written before I read any of your comments)
2006-01-21 [Calico Tiger]: Btw, just thought I'd point out that the lovely [snakelord] messed with your example entry thingy :O
2006-01-21 [iippo]: The thing is, all we want the submission to be the best character the player can make, so there isn't exactly a theme that the players are ignoring, like in art contests where they need to read the theme. The difference is that art contest's winner is not actually the artist but the drawing. Here, the overall winner will be the person.
2006-01-21 [Lerune]: I give up. I respect you completely, and I know that you know that, but it is evident that we will not be able to agree on this. I did not, in any way, say that we should have a character sheet that lists exactly what we need, I said what I said and I feel no need to explain it any further. I know I personally didn't enter the contest for some time because I, myself, was not sure what the judges were looking for and I am not a stupid person. I think there is drama going on now that is uneccesary and I don't want to contribute to it, so I will step out. I figure any further concerns we have should be discussed privately.
2006-01-21 [iippo]: I really appreciate that 'privately' part. o.O As for drama -- it's a fact that happens always when people gather, we'll deal and we will answer any further questions as clearly as possible. As for now, I will ask everyone to have some trust. This has never happened before and therefore no one apart from me and SilverFire really knows what we have in store for you, and it will all be so much more fun when it's a surprise for you. As for being unfair and not telling the entrants with bad characters; they have done their best. We're not here to mother them to do better. They have chosen to give their submission as it is. They were given the link to the role playing for dummies.
2006-01-21 [iippo]: And that's as far as I agree to mother them. I'm only their Game Master. I won't tie anyone's shoelaces.
2006-01-21 [windowframe]: 'continue to allow entries that you know won't pass'. This is just an opinion issue, but eh; as far as I'm concerned, letting people enter who won't pass is the same as letting people enter an art contest when you know they won't win. O.o Since there is no 'theme' other than 'RP', to which they all fit, I don't really see how they can be compared. If a bio breaks the rules, we delete it, and message the person. How is it rude to let people enter, even if we think they won't make it? *shrug* :/ But, this discussion is over, I have no wish to revive it, I'm just sorry I missed it.
2006-01-21 [twitchboy]: do we have to have all three at one time?
2006-01-21 [Veltzeh]: Nope, as you can see.
2006-01-21 [Lunnie]: All three chars? No. You can put one and come back to add another later as long as it's all done before the deadline. O.o;
2006-01-22 [Raie]: why not just not have a comments page at all? that's what I did to get rid of stupid chatter.
2006-01-22 [grey wanderer]: because people need to be able to ask questions here.
2006-01-22 [iippo]: We welcome socialising in the tournament, we're simply asking it to be in the page Champion's Tournament. What's so feffing hard about that? -_-;;;
2006-01-22 [deus-ex-machina]: Was there a reason for having to constantly repeat yourselves over where to post chit chat... or is there something I've forgot about why there shouldn't just be a big notice on the page? O.o
2006-01-22 [windowframe]: *wakes**delete
2006-01-22 [deus-ex-machina]: They might get the idea by the time the tournament is over.
2006-01-22 [Jeesum Crowe]: Oh, sorry, I didn't know we weren't supposed to talk here. I'll shut up now.
2006-01-22 [Calico Tiger]: Yar, might I recommend a note up near the top of the wiki page itself about not chatting on this page and where to do it instead? :D They're more likely to read the first couple lines up top than sift through all the comments. But, experience shows, they prolly won't read that either XD
2006-01-23 [Nightfall]: so I take it we are required to have a bio for the character(s) we wish to compete in the tournament?
2006-01-23 [Lunnie]: Logically, considering the 78 contestants entered, you would be required to have a bio.
2006-01-23 [windowframe]: Eh, I sympathise with [Nightfall] - I'm sure everyone has asked what others deem a 'silly question' at some point because, for whatever reason, they didn't see something. If you've never done that, feel free to be an arrogant prick about it. Otherwise, well... don't.
2006-01-23 [Lothuriel]: I intend to polish my character's bio before the deadline of Feb. 12 (?). However, I am debating on how much detail I want to put into in. Before I decide I would like to know: Will the character's advancement in the tourney be partially based on the written quality of the biograpy/descr
2006-01-23 [NamelessMerc]: I'd like someone (preferably non-Lemire rp'er) to look through my character Tyza - The Samurai if possible. I don't want any of the terms to be confusing, so if someone does find something they don't understand could they please message me and I'll put it on the page where appropriate :D
2006-01-23 [deus-ex-machina]: I'm not going to dabble much on perfect punctuation... just make sure it's all coherant. Easy reading makes things a lot easier. I'm not sure if I say anything else I'll be giving things away... but I will say you might want to take pride in your character, and that would show in the bio too. =D I will also say I have no knowledge about the statistics in some people's bios (HP/GP etc). I'm not going to penalise, but I can't exactly reward either.
2006-01-23 [Lothuriel]: Ok, thank you [deus-ex-machina].
2006-01-23 [NamelessMerc]: Hm... I might remove my stats for Tyza, but then again the skills wouldn't make sense without them...
2006-01-23 [Duredhel]: I'd say just keep the skills, equipment, special skills and spells (if any) and get rid of the stats. Also paraphrase the explanations on skills and special skills, for example, instead of "once a day for every 6 levels", since you know Tyza's level, you can just write, "3 times a day"
2006-01-23 [windowframe]: Then modify the skills into 'free-form' forms? O.o You've got time.
2006-01-23 [Duredhel]: what she said ^_^
2006-01-23 [NamelessMerc]: Then aye, I shall. Thankies both.
2006-01-23 [Wes Foxx]: Lol @_@ we have well over 100 characters so far.
2006-01-23 [Lunnie]: fun stuff ;D~
2006-01-25 [Nite_Owl]: Alright people, here's the deal--this place is an official wiki-page, which means the comments are not to be used for random chatting between members, but rather for those who have questions so that qualified people can answer them properly without said question being thrown off to the side and covered up by other pointless comments. In other words, if you've got a question, then stay here; if not, do the judges and such a favor and please LEAVE! (>,<) Why do I even bother...
2006-01-25 [iippo]: I wonder that too (=why do you bother). :P Ah well, silvie will be happy with her comment deletery. I would be too, but I'm no wikiboss.
2006-01-25 [The Coffee-Prophet]: Ok, actuall contest-relate
2006-01-25 [iippo]: Euhm, we do have a policy about dying, but I'm not sure if we'll tell people. :D Isn't it much more fun without a safety net of knowing? All you need to do is play well; if dying is included in playing well...
2006-01-25 [Delladreing]: iippo: Euhm, we do have a policy about dying if I had seen that anywhere else other than a roleplaying page I'd have died of laughter by now
2006-01-25 [NamelessMerc]: XD I feel for the people who have only one character; if their character dies, they're up s*** creek.
2006-01-25 [Pirokenetic]: what all do you want included in the character's bio?
2006-01-25 [Lunnie]: It's your choice. I suggest you just take a look at what other's have.
2006-01-26 [Noexistantanymo]: NamelessMerc, Those with only one character maybe like the challenge? Like me for example.. Don't feel for them, it's our own decision to only have one..
2006-01-26 [Jeesum Crowe]: I write good RPs. I write the best. In my opinion. I mean, I used to. I stopped for the time being. But I was the greatest, man, the greatest!
2006-01-26 [iippo]: Shh now, or move it to Champion's Tournament. }:C
2006-01-29 [Yncke]: As long as the contest isn't closed, you can do that.
2006-01-29 [Lunnie]: Woot woot 6 more contestants and we'll have hit 100. ;D~
2006-01-30 [windowframe]: o.o you've jinxed us now, we won't get any more.
