Diji slid on the slick floor as she hit the hallways. She was barefoot and wasn't too fond of the hard floors yet either. Keeping her pace, she giggled a little, hoping Theo would follow.
Theo's voice was the first to enter the room, then his hooves, then his horn, and the rest of him followed. Somehow without ever drawing breath he kept a continual string of curses at the girl. "You little blighter! Come back with my music! Furry li'l snot! I'll tie your ears togevver, I will!" She was quick, but he had longer legs.
Diji kept going, occasionally jumping onto the walls at a turn. This is simply how she flirted. The angrier he got, the more, in her mind, she was succeeding in getting him to like her. She
unexpectedly halted instantly and whipped around, watching the pissed off unicorn storm at her. Diji didn't falter, she remained still with her hands to her sides.
Theo grinned as he saw her stop, then realized how fast he was going. He put on full breaks, but his hooves slid on the wood and he managed to miss her by a centimeter, falling on his bum on the slick floor and crashing into the wall.
Diji ran over to the fallen stallion and knelt down next to him. "Are you alright? You know...you really should be more careful." her voice wasn't cocky at all, but more concerned on if he was hurt.
Theo groaned and reached out a quaking hand to her, as if asking, pleading for her help---and yanked the mp3 player from her grasp whilst still sitting on his head. He unfolded like a spring, clamoring to his hooves. "An' yew," He grabbed her by one pointy ear, "Shouldn't make off wiv ovvuh people's things." He gave it a sharp twist before letting go, bundling up his mp3 player gingerly and shoving it in his pocket. He glared at her.
"Ow ow ow!" Diji squeaked, her eyes getting watery a little. She looked up at him, biting her lower lip a little as her chin trembled. "I...w-w-was just-" she sniffled.
"Was just wot?" Theo asked, bending down and looking in her face, his jaw jutting out. "You were just takin' som'n that wos grac'sly lent to you to
see only?" He pulled the mp3 player out again and held it out in front of him. "Dis is
moy stuff! You don't bovver with my stuff unless you've got
moy express permission!" He wagged it in her face for emphasis. "Got it?" He poked her forehead with one hard finger.
Diji whipped her eyes a little and swallowed hard. She frowned at how he dangled it in front of her. She hesitated and forced out, "Does this mean you don't like me?"
Theo's hostile expression melted to one of befuddlement. What was with this girl? He shoved the player back into his pocket. "Wot?" He asked, short and brusque.
Diji's tears faded, since they were more from the ear twist then his yelling. She smiled and let out a giggle girlishly. "I'll get you to like me, you'll see!" she perked up and hugged Theo without fear.
Theo froze. A little girl wrapped around his neck was not something he'd ever had to confront. Eyes wide, he gingerly grasped her by the ribs and pulled her away from him. "Yyyeah kid, that's wonduhful--loo
k," he held her at arms length. "I'm shore you're a cleveh kid, but I don't loike kids, so leave me alone, awlright?" He said, looking her seriously in the eyes.
Diji smiled, almost devilish, "Just wait, you'll see..." she mumbled under a breath. Her tail swayed from side to side as she was held upright. "Urm...but can I have permission to listen to your music box? Please?" she smiled and batted her eyes.
Theo's ears twitched as he caught that first part. "Wot--?! You just stole it from me!" He exclaimed, letting her go and standing upright several feet above her head.
"Does that do anything?" Diji asked, gawking at his horn. "I like it!" she clasped her hands together. "Did you know that you are strong and have big hoofs? I bet they sound cool on a hollow log when you dance." Her mind jumped once more. "Oh! Did I mention that I like that music that you showed me. Is there anything else on that little thing? Can you show me please?" She hopped a little.
"I--you--wot--I mean---of course I am!" Theo said angrily, confused, but blushing. His chest swelled somewhat and he stood a little straighter. He cocked an eyebrow down at Diji. "You liked it?" He gave a quick glance down the hallway, then behind him. "Finally, somebody wiv some taste in music," he muttered, pulling out the mp3 player again. He stuck an earbud in her ear and one in his own as he searched the little music box. Satisfied with his choice, he said, "Here, try this on fo'size," scrolling to a new, louder song.
Diji smiled brightly when he brought his head close to hers. "How do people make such lovely sounds?" Something caught her eyes, "Freckles? Are those freckles? I have some too...see?" she pointed to her cheek. "Yours are more pretty then mine though.
"S'cuz they're old fogey freckles," Theo explained, as if this was the clearest thing in the world to understand. "You've got li'l gehl freckles." As to the music, he said, "They take instruments and run lightning froo them, and it distohts the sound and they beat on drums and sometimes sing to accompany the electrified instruments."
"Fogey? Erm...Oooooo..." Diji said, now looking back to the player trying to understand all of what he said. "Your really smart, I wish I was as smart as you were. Maybe when I'm...older. I like you the best." she giggled saying the last bit, getting a little shy for an instant.
Theo didn't really know how to respond to that. "Here, listen," He jammed the other earbud into her ear and turned up the volume, switching to a new, more melodious song. That should save from more awkwardness, he thought.
Diji smiled up at him, her eyes screaming, 'thank you'. She moved behind him and crawled up his back, sitting on his shoulder playfully. Her tail wrapped around his forearm.
He couldn't help but notice the disturbing trend of false notions on his part. Something in his pantsleg writhed wierdly under the cloth. He stood up, careful not to dislodge the foreign little girl from his shoulder. "Whatever," he grumbled, walking back to the others.
