"What? W-what are you?" Lucille asked, both curious and a bit afraid.

Raiju sighed in resignation "I'm a Thunder Elemental Demon" he said quietly, just loud enough for her to hear without anyone else overhearing him, to show he was telling the truth he raised his left hand slightly so she could see a small spark of electricity arc between his thumb and index finger.

Lucille gasped, covering her mouth for a moment and then looking at him wide-eyed "That's so interesting...do you use it to hurt people?"

Raiju looked at her with a raised eyebrow "I don't hurt the innocent, if that's what you mean" he replied "I try not to attack unless the other guy gives me a reason to, I learned a long time ago to never strike another person unless it's in order to protect the untainted, and even then I rarely resort to lethal force, normally I hold back and use just enough to take the fight out of them"

Lucille sighed in relief "That's good to hear. Have you...have you ever had to kill someone?"

Raiju nodded "like I said, it's rare but the most extreme incident was when those cultists killed my, for lack of a better term, mate, I changed to my true form and...well let's just say it's not a moment I'm proud of"

"It's understandable, though" Lucille replied. "I don't know how it is to lose someone, fortunately for me, but I can imagine I'd probably do the same thing you did"

Raiju gave her a small smile "it was one of the few moments in my life where I gave myself over to the beast within, that side of the mind that is personified by a savage beast driven by the basest of instincts, knows only survival and is fueled by the dominant emotions at the time, in that instance it as rage and bloodlust born from a desire to avenge my fallen mate" he explained.

"Is it scary?...Feeling like that I mean" Lucille asked.

“My father was preparing me in case something happened to him my mother or the village,”Will said as he finished cooking the meat, leaving a few pieces out and putting the rest in a sealed bag.“And your welcome about the blood.”

"Well you definitely had a wonderful father, it sounds like he helped you grow up at a very young age just to be safe" Draven smiled "Our father was the same way, except not with Katherine but with me" he sighed "I really miss him, both of them, really...it's hard to totally get over the death of a loved one"

Raiju nodded solemnly "it's always scary to lose control, when I was younger it felt freeing, letting go like that, but it got me into quite a bit of trouble, over time I began to understand the flip-side of it and understood why so many humans hated and feared demons, when we give in to our base selves we begin to think only of ourselves and not of others save our mates and young, we see all things as either a threat or food and treat it as such, some even go so far as to wreak havoc and destruction on the human world or our own perverse enjoyment, these are the truly tainted ones, the ones who have given up trying to co-exist with humans in order to satisfy their own demonic lusts" he looked down and slowly shook his head "it's because of the few that the many are forced to suffer, it's their actions that resulted in the humans creating the term 'Demonize' and my kind being associated with devils and evil"

Lucille frowned a bit "Well, I don't think you're demonic or devilish, quite the opposite actually. I just don't like some. Like vampires, they drink the blood of humans and animals, I find that so evil and disgusting!" Lucille said with a disgusted face "Or any race that does that really. There's always chicken or whatever" she stated, confused as to why they didn't just eat normal food, although she didn't know too much about other races, either.

“I know how you feel.I`m going to make a quick trip back to town and tell Raiju what I`m doing so I`ll be back in a bit,”Will said standing up and shifting to his demon form.“Oh and tell Katherine that Toby said hi.”

"Alright, see you later then" Draven replied, taking some of the blood in one of the jars and drinking it.

Raiju raised an eyebrow "it's no different than you eating the flesh of another animal, it's merely a means of survival, most Vampires are able to curb their thirst and survive on the blood of wild animals but like demons there are a few who give in to baser urges and seek out human prey, and don't forget there are some types of bats that survive on blood as well" he explained trying not to play Devil's Advocate it this little debate.

"But it is different! We don't drink the blood from an animal, that's really disgusting! and plus, drinking blood from an animal...doesn't that mean that it suffers?" Lucille frowned

"actually no" Raiju replied "you see when a Vampire begins to feed they place the victim into a trance so they don't really feel a thing, and while they're taking the blood they're also unconsciously releasing a chemical into the victim's body that makes them feel only positive sensations, euphoria, pleasure, that kind of thing, and when they awaken later they will only feel a little tired and the bite holes will have healed, not even leaving a scar" he said casually, relaying his knowledge of the Vampire's feeding method.

"Wow, how do you know so much about vampires?" Lucille asked

“I`m wondering the same thing,” Will said standing by the door of the bar eating a piece of deer that he cooked earlier.

Raiju smiled "when you've travelled a much as I have, for as long as I have, you'd be surprised at what you will learn"

Lucille sighed hearing Will's voice and simply looked at Raiju still "I think it's wonderful how smart you are!" she smiled "And you make vampires sound very romantic" she sighed dreamily.

Will walks over to Raiju and Lucille and sits down.“Lucille, I`m sorry for the way I acted the other day.I had a bunch of things on my mind at that time and I was a jerk to you and I`m sorry,”Will said to Lucille.

Lucille squeaked happily "See Raiju, I knew it had nothing to do with that horrible Katherine girl! So you do think I'm pretty?" she asked, excitedly.

“Yes I do think your pretty but I`m not looking for a girlfriend right now. I`m going to be doing some traveling and I might not be back by here for some time,”Will said looking at both Raiju and Lucille.

"oh no, I don't mean to give you the wrong impression, I don't even like you that way anymore" Lucille laughed, looking at Raiju "You won't have to really leave too, will you?" she frowned.

"where Will goes, I must follow" Raiju replied with a slightly sad face "he'd be hopeless without me" he added with a smirk as he looked at Lucille.

Lucille sighed and frowned "Okay, well, I hope you take care of yourself, Raiju! Good luck with everything!" she smiled, wrapping her arms around him and kissing his cheek "I hope to see you again someday" she smiled, walking out of the bar and heading home.

Raiju smiled as Lucille left, he hadn't felt this at ease with a female since his former mate, he then turned to Will with a calm expression "what's up?"

“I`ll tell you on the to meet up with Draven and Katherine,” Will said standing up.“Me hopeless, now thats a new one.”

Raiju gave him a wry smile as he got up and followed him out "remind me again, who was it who got captured and held prisoner for the last ten years?" he asked casually as they walked down the street.

“I was and I also got the men who killed my parents and Destroyed my village,” Will said as he shifted to his demon form. “Now come on. We have some running to do.”

Raiju was momentarily stunned, apparently he had missed quite a bit, he shifted to his true form and dashed after Will, choosing to remain silent as he mulled over this recent revelation.

Will leads the way back to Draven and Katherine with Raiju right behind him.

Draven noticed movement and then made out Will and Raiju "Well you certainly were fast!" he smiled.

“Well I didn't want to waste any time and when I told Raiju I was going to do some traveling he decided to come along,”Will said shifting to his human form.

"Good, I'm glad to hear it" Draven smiled. He decided to try and find Katherine, finding her napping against a tree. "Katherine, wake up" he said, gently waking her.

Katherine woke up "What?" she asked

"We're going to start traveling again" Draven said.

Katherine sighed and stood up "Draven...I can't believe you haven't thought about it"

Draven looked at her curiously "Thought about what?"

"Going home! Draven, we grew up in that house, we shouldn't be anywhere else but there. I don't know about you but I really want to go back and see what it looks like now...I want to visit mom and dad's grave, even if just a visit"

Draven frowned "Katherine, I don't think that's such a good idea and the others-"

"It is for me, you do what you have to do" Katherine smiled, cutting him off and grabbing her things as she started walking off.

Will walks up beside Draven.“Looks like she has made up her mind. If you want I could make the trip with her and meet up with you and Raiju,”Will said to Draven.“She would be in safe hands.”

Draven sighed and smiled "Alright William, thank you, I trust you 100%. You both take care okay?"

“Alright see you soon,”Will said as he ran after Katherine.“Hey wait up Katherine.”

Katherine looked back at Will "What? you're coming?" she asked, shocked. "This wasn't my brother's idea was it?"

Draven looked at Raiju with a smile "It's good to see you again Raiju" he said before walking off himself alongside Raiju.

“Nope this one`s all mine. Draven`s going ahead with Raiju and I told him we would meet up later,”Will said walking along side Katherine.

Katherine was pleasantly surprised, she really didn't think he'd want to go. "Well I'm glad you've chose to come" she smiled as they walked. She was really excited about going back home. She wondered if the house was still standing or if it had started to fall apart since it had been up for so many generations in their family.

“What are friends for and besides if anything happens it will give you a chance to use your sword,”Will said as they walked.

Katherine nodded, only hoping that if that did have to happen, she didn't fail terribly in front of him, she really didn't want to embarrass herself. She saw Elijah up ahead talking to someone and laughing and quickly hid behind a tree, dragging Will over with her "Don't let him see you!" she whispered.

“Ok is that the person Draven was talking about,”Will said while looking at Elijah from behind the tree.

"Yeah, well Draven doesn't like any guy that likes me" Katherine smirked, watching Elijah start to walk again and disappear in the woods. Katherine stepped out, relieved "Okay, we can go again, things were just really awkward with-" she said when Elijah was suddenly by them. "Katherine? you're not here to reject me again are you?" he smiled a bit.

Katherine laughed nervously "uh, no, we're actually going to my old house" she answered "right Will?"

Elijah looked at Will, focusing all of his attention on him now.

“Thats right,”Will said to Katherine

Katherine smiled "well, we have to go since it'll take us until tomorrow morning to get there, bye Elijah!" she said, walking off.

Elijah walked up with them, taking Will's place and smiling at Katherine as he walked "I can come with you, Katherine. I promise it'll be strictly platonic"

Katherine looked at Will and then Elijah "I only really need Will"

Elijah shrugged with a smile "I'll tag along anyways" he said, walking along.

“Sure I guess if its alright with Katherine,”Will said as he walked along side them.

Katherine sighed, she really wished he hadn't had said that, she'd rejected him a few times and she couldn't do it anymore to him.

Elijah looked at Katherine for an answer

"I'd love to have you along" Katherine smiled.

Elijah grinned "Good, I'm glad to hear it. So who exactly are you then? You look pretty scrawny he smirked"

Katherine looked at Elijah "Please don't be rude, Elijah"

Elijah grinned "What? I'm just having some gun with the kid"

"Kid? He's 2 years older than I and 1 year older than you" Katherine smirked.

Elijah laughed "well you could have fooled me"

Katherine sighed, he did the same then when they were younger and had always gotten into fights that way.

“I`m Will Blackfire and I`m stronger than I look,”Will said to Elijah.

Katherine was impressed by the fact that Will hadn't blown up but had stayed calm instead, she looked over at Elijah who looked slightly annoyed.

"I guess" Elijah replied, looking at Katherine "So, are you hanging out with him for long?"

"Yes, actually. We haven't known each other for very long but he's a really wonderful person" Katherine smiled.

Elijah looked at Will then back at Katherine "I think I'll actually leave...I'll probably see you before you leave home" he said, walking into the woods, the same direction that the guy he was talking to had gone.

Katherine frowned, wondering if she'd said something again to hurt his feelings. She looked at Will as they walked "Is it really that horrible that I didn't kiss him? I mean, be honest, if you were him, would you really feel all that bad?" she felt the guilt start to creep up on her again.

“It all depends on how you look at it. Now if it was me I wouldn`t get mad over something like not getting a kiss,”Will said as they walked.

Katherine laughed with a smile "Well I'm glad you're at least mature about not getting a kiss" she smirked as they walked. Katherine then kept quiet as they walked, thinking to herself about many things.

Will smiled as they walked.'Wow and Raiju said I was hopeless without him,'Will thought to himself.

Katherine kept walking until it started to get dark. She looked over at Will "Are you ready to stop and get some sleep?" she asked him.

“Sure lets stop and rest,”Will said to Katherine.

Katherine looked around, there wasn't exactly anywhere comfortable to sleep. "Uhm, Will, where exactly are we going to sleep?" she smirked.

“Don`t worry about that. I`ve got it covered,”Will said as he shifted into his demon form.“You can use my tails to sleep on.”

"Oh no, Will, I can't sleep on your tails! That sounds painful!" Katherine said "I can sleep on the ground, it really doesn't matter" she smiled.

“It`s ok or you can just lean up against me,”Will said laying down by a tree.

Katherine stood there for a moment, thinking things over. She really didn't want to sleep on the ground, or sleep on his tails because it did sound like it might hurt and she was far too shy to lean up next to him. She weighed her options and looked down at him. She then sat next to him and looked over at him "Are you really sure you're okay with this?" she asked.

“Sure I am,”Will said as he closed his eyes.

Katherine took a deep breathe then let it out, laying her head comfortably on his shoulder. He was actually really comfortable and warm, she smiled at this and some of the shyness she had before disappeared and she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Will was soon asleep himself and didn`t move except for a 2 of his tails randomly twitching.

Katherine felt a small breeze hit her body and hugged on closer to Will for warmth until she felt another breeze and then a leaf hit her face and opened her eyes, quickly letting go of Will and sitting up. She looked at him while he slept and smiled, he looked really peaceful when he slept.

Will`s tails stop twitching as he goes into a deeper stage of sleep.

Katherine saw that he was perfectly still now and stood up, deciding to go for a small walk around while he was sleeping, she really didn't want to wake him up. She left him and went a bit further into the woods, only stopping when she saw a man with a gun.

"Hey there girly, these here woods are mine and I really hate trespassers. If I were you I'd leave now" he spit tobacco out on the ground and looked her way.

Katherine glared at him "Your woods? They can't belong to you!"

"Well they do, maybe not legally but I've been living in these woods ever since I was a little boy. So you best get out"

"I don't have to and I refuse!" Katherine glared, she knew she shouldn't make matters worse but she was fed up with humans, she really was.

The man sighed, aiming his gun at her "If you don't, I'll shoot and I won't hesitate, I can cover up a murder"

Katherine sighed, she knew she couldn't get herself shot, she especially couldn't do that to Will. She shrugged "I'll leave" she replied, walking off and back to Will, kneeling down and shaking him gently "Will, wake up, we have to leave" she said quietly.

Will wakes up and looks at Katherine.“Whats wrong Katherine,”Will said quickly shifting to his wolf form after seeing the look on her face.

"A human that 'owns' these woods wants us gone, if we don't leave he'll shoot us. Let's just hurry before he gets angrier okay?" Katherine smiled.

“Ok lets go before I decide to 'take care' of him,”Will said with a clenched fist as they walked off.

The man watched them leave from afar and went back into his small house, happy with the results.

Katherine walked alongside Will, sighing "Do you think you could ever see yourself with a human?" she asked seriously as they walked. "I honestly couldn't...I know that not all humans are bad but it seems like 99.9 percent of them are..."

“I doubt it not after what they did to my village and to me,”Will said as they walked.

"Yeah, it's pretty unforgiving for what they did to you...and to my parents" Katherine frowned. She loved that she could talk to Will, especially since they had both gone through a horrible past caused by humans. "What were your parents like?" she asked curiously with a smile.

“They both was kind caring and not afraid to stand up for what they believed in, much like myself,”Will said with a smile.

"They sound wonderful, especially if they are just like you. I would have loved to meet them" Katherine smiled as they walked. "Do you have any other family left that you know of? Uncles, aunts, grandparents?" she asked.

“I don`t know. I had watched that Alex guy kill my family one by one until he got to me. He left me alive but barely,”Will said looking at Katherine.

Katherine's heart went out to him, he'd actually watched as his family died, that had to be the hardest thing. "I just feel so terrible for you, Will...but at least you're not alone, right?" she smiled.

“That's right I`ve got you and the others as friends,”Will said with a chuckle.

Katherine smirked and looked ahead, seeing the mansion's roof towering just ahead, she felt as if her heart had stopped beating for a moment, she hadn't seen it in so long. She went into a run, going straight for it and stopped when she came to the front of the antique-looking house. She gently traced her hand on the door, seeing that vines had been growing and the house was starting to fall apart. She opened up the door slowly and walked in, looking around, amazed at how nothing inside had really changed, everything was still in its exact spot. "isn't it beautiful?" Katherine asked Will as she looked around the room. "I really wish I could stay here forever"

“It is,”Will said looking around.

Katherine screamed when she saw a rat stuck in the cabinet when she opened it. She ran to Will, clinging onto him "There's a rat! It's really big and furry!' she stated. She'd always been scared of them, they were overgrown mice with sharper teeth.

Will walks over to the cabinet and grabs the rat behind its head so he wouldn't get bit and carries it outside letting it go before walking back inside.“All taken care of,”Will said with a smile.

Katherine sighed in relief "Thank you" she said, going up the long stair case and to her old room. "My canopy bed, oh it's all so lovely! And see, I had my own shower and we even have a hot tub further up the stairs!" she exclaimed. She let it all sink in and looked at Will "I kind of want to stay here, Will. I mean, if I don't it'll just all got to waste and it's such a big and beautiful place. I really don't think my parents would be thrilled if they were alive, seeing it fall apart like this" she frowned a bit.

“We can if you want to,”Will said looking at Katherine.

Katherine blushed and looked at him, shocked "Y-you-we..you'd stay here with me?" she asked him.

“Yes I would,”Will said with a smile

Katherine smiled and sat down on her old bed "What about Draven? he'd be so upset...and he'd be especially angry at you..and Raiju, he's your best friend. You couldn't really leave him" she said, looking over at him.

“I don`t think that Draven would be angry at me. He knows that I will keep you safe and he trusts me. I think Raiju would understand but he would want to keep a eye on me though,”Will said sitting down beside Katherine.

Katherine laughed at his last statement "That's very understandable, he's a terrific friend" she smiled, looking over at him and then down "I couldn't tell Draven. I'm honestly scared to...he'd be so angry with me...he probably wouldn't even let me"

Will think for a few seconds then looks at Katherine.“ He might if I offered to stay here to. We just need to talk to him about it,”Will said looking at her.

"But Will, didn't you want to travel around with them?" Katherine asked, remembering what he had said before.

“Yea I did want to travel with them, but after hearing about how you feel about this place traveling can wait,“Will said smiling.

"No Will, that's really sweet but I can't let you do that. I'll just have to find Draven and Raiju and talk to him myself" Katherine smiled, standing up and going to look out her window. She didn't want to be alone but she'd rather be alone than not stay here, she owed it especially to her parents. She was sure Draven would understand, he'd have to.

Will sighs as he starts thinking about his parents again, wondering if they would be proud of the person that he has become.

Katherine looked back when Will sighed and walked over, sitting next to him "What's wrong?" she asked, looking into his eyes.

“Just thinking about my parents and wondering if they would be proud of the person i`ve become,”Will said to Katherine.

"Why would you even wonder that? of course they would!" Katherine replied with a smile, putting her hand gently on his "You're a great person Will, you protect the people you care for, you're very kind and selfless and you've saved my life many of times. I think their hearts would be over-filled with pride and happiness, they're lucky to have a son like you"

“Your right they was lucky to have a son like me,”Will said smiling

"That's right, plus, I'm always right" Katherine grinned with a wink as she fell back on the bed, smiling as she looked up at the ceiling. She'd really missed this place and it just felt right being there.

“You know when we head back We`ll have to go past that hillbilly again,”Will said shifting to his human form.“And this time I want to have a little fun with him.”

"We don't have to, I really don't want you to fight, Will" Katherine frowned, sitting up next to him and looking at him "Please don't. I hate when you fight. Even if it is just one human, it's still a human with a gun. I don't want you to get hurt"

“Ok I won`t fight him,”Will said looking at Katherine.

"Wow, that was easy" Katherine laughed with a smile "Thank you, though, Will. I know you don't have to listen to what I say but it means a lot to me"

“I know and I had told you that would try not to fight unless I had no choice,”Will said.

Katherine smiled "Yeah, you did. Thank you" she said as she stood. "Tomorrow morning you can go back to Draven and Raiju and let my brother know that I'm staying here, and Will, I want you to go with them. You said it yourself that you still want to travel. You shouldn't let anything stop you from what you really want to do" with that, she turned and walked out, going upstairs further.

“Ok I will and I`ll be back from time to time to check on you,”Will said as he got up and went to the window.

Katherine stopped at her parents' old room, slowly opening the door and walking in. She looked around and picked up a family portrait. She then put it down and walked out, she felt uncomfortable in there. She stopped outside of the attic door, remembering what her parents always told her about the attic and instead went back to her room but stood outside of the door, looking in at Will. "I never got to reply earlier but I thought I'd let you know that I don't need to be checked on. I really need to learn to be by myself and take care of myself as well. I'm too old to be watched after"

“Ok and I`ll try to keep Draven from coming here and getting you. It's the least I can do,“Will said looking at Katherine.

Katherine smiled "Thanks" she said, walking off. She went outside, remembering her parents graves were just behind the house. She went back to see the grave stones violated and pieces of it strewn all over the yard. She gasped loudly and stood there, noticing a boot print that was probably from a few years back. Humans. They'd killed her parents and then destroyed their graves. She wanted to cry but held back the tears as she started to pick up the pieces of the graves.

Will follows Katherine to the back of her house and sees the mess.“Here let me help you before I go,”Will said as he helped pick up the grave stone pieces.

"I hate them so much..." Katherine said, putting the pieces she had into a pile. "I'm going to find who's responsible...and when I do..." she didn't even need to finish it. They were obviously going to come back again and when they did, she was going to do whatever it took to make them pay, even if it meant her own life as well.

“Not alone your not. You helped me with the ones who killed my family now it's my turn to help you,”Will said adding the pieces he had picked up to her pile.


Katherine looked towards him with a smile "You're right, it'd only be fair. But, you're leaving tomorrow morning, who knows when the idiots will show up again" she replied, feeling a bit sad. "You know, I'm really going to miss you, Will"

“I`ll leave when those humans that did this are dead, until then we need to get prepared,”Will said to Katherine.“This is more important than traveling right now.”

Katherine sighed with a smile "Well, I'm glad I won't be doing this alone" she said, looking off into the distance. She started to feel a few small drops, slowly one at a time and noticed that it was starting to rain. "We should get inside" she smirked at him, walking back to the house.

Will nods and follows her inside.

Katherine caught her eye on the record player that hadn't been played in years. She wiped some of the dust off and put a record on, smiling when the song started to play. It was slow and beautiful and Katherine hadn't heard music in so long. "When was the last time you heard music?" she asked, looking back at Will.

“Its been about 12 to 13 years now,”Will said listening to the song.

"Wow, it's been longer for you than it has been for me" Katherine said, a bit surprised. She made her way into the kitchen and looked into the cupboards which were mostly filled with alcohol. It didn't surprise her too much, remembering her father had loved drinking wine and put it on the highest shelf to keep it from her, although he'd let Draven drink it once or twice. She grabbed the bottle and took a drink, liking the taste, it was sweet. She sat down on the couch, pouring herself a glass "Would you like some?" she asked Will.

“Sure I would like a glass please,”Will said sitting down in a chair.

Katherine poured him a glass and handed it to him. She heard a knock at the door and hesitated a moment before walking over and opening the door carefully.

"Hey" Elijah said, pushing past her and staring hard at her "Katherine...you need to get out of here, as in tonight"

"What? no, I'm not leaving" Katherine replied "I just got here and I-"

"You have to!" Elijah said, taking her by the stories and looking into her eyes angrily, but more of out worry for his friend. "Katherine, there are people here who want to kill you. That guy that I was talking to earlier, he's a human and he's been a friend of mine for a while now. He said that he knows some people who've been coming around here, wanting mainly to destroy it. They somehow found out about you and Draven, knowing you'd come back at some point...Katherine, dammit, you have to get out of here"

"No! Elijah, you know I can't let them destroy my house, this is all I have left of my past and I don't want to let go of it!" Katherine snapped at him.

"Katherine, you don't leave and I'll take you out of here myself, I can't let you get killed!" Elijah glared.

Katherine smacked his hand off of her and stormed upstairs, slamming her door.

Elijah watched her leave and winced when the door slammed. He sighed and looked at Will "She's stubborn, always has been...but it's something I like about her" he said, looking in the direction she'd left. "You need to get her out of here tonight"

Elijah looked at him curiously "Are you serious?" he asked. "That's amazing...the most I've met are a hybrid of 2 but not 3" he then shook his head "Look, no offense but you're just as crazy as her if you don't leave. Those humans are brutal, just look at what they did to her parents. I have to go now but I'll come check up here later...if you guys aren't gone by then I'll force you both out myself" he left as quickly as he'd come, slamming the door behind him in frustration.

Will walks up to Katherine`s room and knocks on the door.“We need to get ready for the fight Katherine. I`m going outside to train and you can join me if you want,”Will said to Katherine.

Katherine walked over to her door, opening it and looking at Will "I'll come with you" she replied. She needed something to clear her mind. She just couldn't believe it was all happening so fast. "I'm sorry that you have to fight again" she sighed.
