While we are living
The dreams we had as children
Fade away

       Oasis - Fade Away

Personally, I think I have more dreams and hopes now than when I was a kid. I don't remember having them when I was 10 or 12 or 15 or whatever. Or maybe now they are more defined.

MADNESS IS COMING! MADNESS IS COMING! MADNESS IS COMING!

MADNESS IS COMING stage 3: Yesterday I got my ticket.

Madness, madness, they call it madness
Madness, madness, they call it madness
It's plain to see
That is what they mean to me
Madness, madness, they call it gladness, ha-ha

Madness - Madness

In related news to the previous post, my song "One of a kind" (which can be found in http://www.musmakers.com/1.One%20Of%20A%20Kind%20Acoustic%20Vocals in a version with vocals and guitar by me O_O ) was censored last rehearsal. They said it's too long :P I had to cut part of the intro and part of the bridge. Evil bandmates!

About:Blank's zillionth first rehearsal

About:Blank is a project that started back in 2003/2004 (i'm not sure of any of the dates in this diary entry, so treat them as guidelines, not laws :P ). The base of this harcore/punk/pop project was (and still is, essentially) yours truly in guitar (and sometimes something that kinda looks like something that tries to sound like back up vocals) and Francisco UPMA in voice. Originally we played with a girl named Dalia in bass guitar. That lasted something like 4 rehearsals, distributed in something like 5 months. After that we got a drummer (Fede)... and we lost Dalia.
The beginnings are a little foggy, actually. I'm not sure, but we may have had another member for a couple rehearsals. I know that the first drummer we contacted never showed up the first time we were going to get together and that was the end of our relationship.
During the end of 2004 and begginnings of 2005 we rehearsed several times (something like 6 or 7 times, I think) without bass player. Just me, Fran and Fede. Some of the songs we did (we were playing 7 or 8, i think) can be found in Prelude to Crazyness.
Then, we lost Fede. He's life hasn't been easy. His mother died when he was very young and his fahter commited suicide a few years ago. We almost didn't know him outside rehearsals, so we don't know so much about his history, but he probably tried to commit suicide (plus having some drugs or alcohol problems) so ended up in an institution. We visited him there a couple times and the idea was to keep rehearsing, but after he left that place it was impossible. We lost contact for a while and that was the end of AboutBlank at the time (I talked with Fede a couple weeks ago. His living with his uncle and going to church. Strange how life changes you and you change life).
Considering that there was not a lot to do with ABoutBlank, I tried (along with a friend named Ariel who, I remember now, rehearsed a couple times with AB too) to form another band during the second half of 2005. We were quite succesfull in that we manage to get a bass player and a drummer. We also managed to rehearse around 6 times during the end of '05 and the first 3 months of 06. We had some good songs (a little too much rock'n roll for my taste, but ok) and all. Then we lost contact for different reasons for a while and Ariel decided to start playing with another band. Also, he decided that he didn't want to see Victor (drummer) because he reminded him too much of his ex-girlfriend. Thus, the band named Zoophia was dead (one or two songs of those we were playing in Zoophia can be found in www.musmakers.com/1)
From the first moment I had it pretty clear that Zoophia was my last shot at having people to play with. So after it dissolved, I kinda quit and not even tried to make new songs. For a while...
Couple months ago, the temptation was too strong. I talked with Fran and asked if he wanted me to ask Victor (Zoophia's drummer) if he wanted to play with us. He did and I asked. And Victor also wanted to play. We got together, decided that it wasn't the most important project for any of us, but that we wanted to play and that we were going to rehearse every 2 weeks or so. Just for the fun of playing, not to play in front of people nor anything like that. We agreed in all that and rehearsed 3 times. We were still one bass player short of a dozen.
So, why am I counting last saturday's rehearsal like the first one in this new (and last, 'cause I'm not going through the pain of getting new members again) stage? Because I borrowed my godfather's bass guitar and Fran's trying to play it at the same time that he sings. Therefore we are "complete".
I've been writing a few new songs and we are also playing the old ones ("Prelude To Craziness", "As Seen On TV", for example). I'm also singing a couple of them O_O (Yes, it's horrible). In any case, we are doing it like we want it: without any pressure and just for the sake of strumming a little now and then.

Also, I thikn I stablished a new record: I was at the office all day and managed to do absolutely nothing. But nothing. Really nothing. All I did in the whole day was copy pasting 5 names with the corresponding mail address to an excel document. And nothing else. But really nothing. Nothing at all.

How did the cat get so fat?

I went to the NoFx show last night. It was a pretty good show. The band sounds really clean and rehearsed. They played mostly old songs, which was nice, considering that they hadn't been in Buenos Aires in 9 years.
Things to note:
-They talk a lot on stage. And, of course, the public understood half of what they said. Even Fat Mike commented on that, saying "We're gonna say a lot of things that you won't understand and we're gonna play a few songs that you won't understand either". They really talk a lot.
-At some point, they played 11 songs un 6 minutes. I didn't control the time, but I think they accomplished the task.
-Political declarations: they played a song called "The dumb song of an asshole" directed towards George Bush. And "Murder the Government", of course. And a couple more.
-Fat Mike told us that we shouldn't hate all Americans because of their president, but that it's ok to hate the French *nods sagely*
-They played "Linoleum", "How did the cat get so fat?" (which with that single line directed towards Bill CLinton really express the idea of the song), "I'm telling Tim", "All his suits are torn", "Champs Elysees", "Monosyllabic Girl" and "Don't call me white" between many other songs I don't remember the name. "Murder the government" and "Don't call me white" where the most emotional moments of the night.
-The place was totally sold out. Se picture below.
-At the end of the show, Melvin stayed there playing accordion for like 2 minutes. A guy from the crew came and started pushing him towards the backstage. Halfway there, he made a chaplinesque movement and came back and kept playing for a minute more. Thye repeated it 4 times or so. The audience, meanwhile, was hypnotized. That's being able to keep the attention of the public, something to easily done.

So, since I was talking about stereotypes with Sun, let's review one: Argentinians are incredibly egocentric. They think they are the best thing in the world. Therefore, jokes of argentinians.

Do you know how an argentinian commits suicide?
He jumps from his own ego.

Why does an argentinian smile when there's lighting in the sky?
Because he thinks God is taking a picture of him.

Enjoy, people.

Bishop: "YES, DAMMIT! THE SAME!!!"
Me: "Mmmm... yeea... no, sorry, I dont get it. And weren't you supposed to be all calm and in peace?"
Bishop: "Those are the fuckin' buddhists!" *starts hitting Punk with a bible*

*is laughing almost out of control. At least 2 tears can be seen in his eyes* So... the guy goes and says that "Islam is evil and inhuman" *chuckles* And then... Oh, and I forgot to mention this! The whole joke doesn't make any sense if I don't mention that: HE'S THE POPE!!! Get it!? The Pope! And he says that *is interrupted by another laugh attack* Islam is... *jojojs a lot* inhuman and evil... But he didn't mean it! He was just quoting some old old text! *dies laughing*

Seriouly, people, what's worse? The declaration or the excuse? Saying something so stupid about a whole religion or quoting a book which was already discriminatory and retrograd when it was written, in the middle age? I'm not really sure. All I know is that the Nazi Pope did it again.
And then they wonder why I'm against the Church...

2 conclusions:

1) Everything is a big joke. Pity that it isn't a funny one.

2) I would be a better Pope than NP.

Almost every day (or every two days... or twice a day... it's not a rule) I ask myself where my life is going and what am I doing with it. i never have an answer. And then, my life is far from being something I don't like and I'm actually going through a good moment. So maybe not having answers isn't so bad :D
People, wake up and smell the sun!!!

Gah, gah, gah, gah! *jumps around all excited... in a mature way, 'cause he's all mature and responsible now*
Finally, finally, finally *maybe it isn't so much in a mature way as in a japanese fangirl way... that deserves some investigation*
Finally! After 6 or 7 years! I have some original Mr T Experience albums in my hands :D :D :D :D 3 of them, to be more precise ("Revenge is sweet... and so are you", "Yesterday rules" and "The miracle of shame"). It seemed almost impossible, but now I've found a small records shop that can import them for me (pretty expensive but it's MTX! One of my long life desires come true!).
So :D :D :D :D :D

PS: Oh, I may even do something silly like putting the name of my favorite songs in my mood or something like that. YEah, I think I'll do exactly that.

It's getting harder and harder to keep up with this :P Maybe I should quit things in ET. But what? Forums? Jobs (which I haven't done in a while, anyway, since I'm never here)? What? Or maybe just wait a little and I'll get used to my new eorking and living hours and find time for everything? Gotta think about it for a while.

In any case, I miss you people.

So... it... happened. It's been confirmed. There's no turning back. We are all doomed. It was bound to happen, eventually, but not everybody was sure it was going to be in this lifetime. Not that it couldn't be expected but...
I have a job. A new one, I mean :D I'm starting the day after tomorrow (gah, bad, bad movie), Monday. The job is press and promotion assistant at a publioshing house. A little triumph for me, since when I lost my other job I decided that I wasn't going to do anything, but work on a place I wanted to, a publishing house or a book store or a production company. It's done, then.
For the first time in my life, I'll actually be doing 9 to 5. Yes. I still can't believe it :P It seems I'll be chained to the mirror and the razorblade after all.
May it be time to grow up? Do I turn into a serious bussiness man? It's an interesting desicion to make.
