Arrogant Worms - Carrot Juice is Murder

Listen up brothers and sisters come hear my desperate tale
I speak of our friends of nature trapped in the dirt like a jail
Vegetables live in oppression, served on our tables each night
This killing of veggies is madness, I say we take up the fight
Salads are only for murderers, coleslaw's a fascist regime
Don't think that they don't have feelings, just cause a radish can't scream

Chorus:
I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (having their insides revealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (burning off calories)
How do you think that feels (bet it hurts really bad)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (and that's a real crime)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (let my vegetables go)
It's time to stop all this gardening (it's dirty as hell)
Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade is a spade is a spade)

I saw a man eating celery, so I beat him black and blue
If he ever touches a sprout again, I'll bite him clean in two
I'm a political prisoner, trapped in a windowless cage
Cause I stopped the slaughter of turnips by killing five men in a rage
I told the judge when he sentenced me, "This is my finest hour,
I'd kill those farmers again just to save one more cauliflower"

Chorus

How low as people do we dare to stoop,
Making young broccolis bleed in the soup?
Untie your beans, uncage your tomatoes
Let potted plants free, don't mash that potato!
Oh spare the spud! Eat a cow instead!

I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (fates in the stir-fry are sealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (you fat gourmet slob)
How do you think that feels? (leave them out in the field)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (V8's genocide)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (yes, your composts are graves)
It's time to stop all this gardening (take up macrame)
Let's call a spade a spade
(is a spade, is a spade, is a spade, is a spade......)

The Arrogant Worms - Rippy the Gator

Billy and his family went on a holiday
They went down to Florida to laugh and sing and play
Billy went in for a swim, he didn't see the harm
When he came back out again, well he was short an arm.

(chorus)
Cause Rippy the Gator went Chomp Chomp Chomp!
Rippy the Gator went Chomp Chomp Chomp!
Passing the time by ending children's lives,
Down in the bottom of the swamp swamp swamp.

Billy and his father went out to play some catch,
But Billy missed the pass because his arm was unattached.
The ball flew past his shoulder and it rolled into the swamp
He went wading after it, his leg became a stump.

(chorus)

Billy and his father joined a three legged race
They were tearing up the field, no one could keep the pace!
Billy tripped and did a flip and landed in the muck
He was running out of limbs and also out of luck.

(chorus)

Billy was all dirty, he really had to wash
But he couldn't use a towel cause his limbs had been gnawed off!
He went into the water to get all clean and bright
But when his bath was finished he was only half his height

(chorus)

Billy's father rolled his wheel chair up upon a hill
He wanted to put Bill where he would not get killed
But he left him on the slope and into the swamp he rolled
They dragged out his head but there was nothing else below

(chorus)

"Hair" From the musical "Hair"

She asks me why, I'm just a hairy guy.
I'm hairy noon and night, hair that's a fright.
I'm hairy high and low, don't ask me why, don't know.
It's not for lack of bread, like the grateful dead, darling...

Give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair, shining, gleaming, steaming flaxen waxen.
Give me down to there, hair, shoulder length or longer. Here baby, there mama, everywhere daddy daddy, HAIR!
Flow it, show it, long as God can grow it my hair.

Let it fly in the breeze and get caught in the trees! Give a home to the fleas in my hair. A home for fleas, a hive for bees, a nest for birds, there ain't no words for the beauty the splendour the wonder of my HAIR!
Flow it, show it, long as God can grow it my hair.

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy, snaggy, shaggy, ratsy, matsy, oily, greasy, fleecy, shiny, gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen. Knotted, polka-dotted, twisted, beaded, braided, powdered, flowered and confettied, bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied.

O say, can you see, my eyes, if you can then my hair's to short! Down to here, down to there, I want hair down to where it stops by itself.

They'll be gaga at the gogo when they see me in my toga. My toga made of blond brilliantined biblical hair. My hair like Jesus wore it, Hallelujah! I adore it! Hallelujah! Mary loved her son, why don't my mother love me? HAIR!
Flow it, show it, long as God can grow it my hair! (repeat)

Say this 10 times fast...

Claude Hooper Bukowski,
finds that it's groovy to hide at the movies
pretends he's Felini and Antonioni
and also his countryman Roman Polanski
all rolled into one,
one Claude Hooper Bukowski

Land of Plenty - Leonard Cohen

Don’t really have the courage
To stand where I must stand.
Don’t really have the temperament
To lend a helping hand.

Don’t really know who sent me
To raise my voice and say:
May the lights in The Land of Plenty
Shine on the truth some day.

I don’t know why I come here,
Knowing as I do,
What you really think of me,
What I really think of you.

For the millions in a prison,
That wealth has set apart –
For the Christ who has not risen,
From the caverns of the heart –

For the innermost decision,
That we cannot but obey -
For what’s left of our religion,
I lift my voice and pray:
May the lights in The Land of Plenty
Shine on the truth some day.

I know I said I’d meet you,
I’d meet you at the store,
But I can’t buy it, baby.
I can’t buy it anymore.

And I don’t really know who sent me,
To raise my voice and say:
May the lights in The Land of Plenty
Shine on the truth some day.

For the innermost decision
That we cannot but obey
For what’s left of our religion
I lift my voice and pray:
May the lights in The Land of Plenty
Shine on the truth some day.

Anthem - Leonard Cohen

The birds they sang at the break of day
Start again, I heard them say
Don't dwell on what has passed away
or what is yet to be

Ah the wars, they will be fought again
The holy dove be caught again
Bought and sold and bought again
The dove is never free

(chorus)
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, there is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in

We asked for signs, the signs were sent
The birth betrayed, the marriage spent
The widowhood of every government
Signs for all to see

Can't run no more with the lawless crowd
While killers in high places say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned up a thundercloud
They're going to hear from me

Chorus

You can add up the parts, but you won't have the sum
You can strike up a march, but there is no drum
Every heart to love will come
But like a refugee

Chorus x2

This is our choir/small group arrangement for "Light of the World", from Godspell

(Chelsey) You are the light of the world.
(all) You are the light of the world.
(Matt) But if that light's under a bushel it's lost something kind of crucial.
(all) You've got to stay bright to be the light of the light of the world.

(Emily) You are the salt of the earth.
(all) You are the salt of the earth.
(Gavin) But if that salt has lost it's flavour it ain't got much in it's flavor.
(all) You can't have that fault and be the light of the world.

Chorus
(all - split into parts) So let your light so shine before men, let your light so shine. Oh that they might know some kindness again.
(ME!) We all need help to feel fine
(all, shouted) Let's have some wine!

(Isabelle) You are the city of God
(all) You are th city of God
(Ian) But if that city's on a hill, it's kind of hard to hide it well.
(all) You gotta stay pretty in the city of God

Chorus

(Kat) You are the light of the world
(all) You are the light of the world
(Rachael) But the tallest candlestick ain't much good without a wick
(all) You gotta live right to be the light of the world!

I would not like that at all
Leave it where it is
