Day:1

I arrived at Meps and after a short talk with my staff sergeant,when to file in line with the other early recruits outside of the Military Enlistment Processing Station.by the time the busses came in with the other recruits it was 6 am,and we were all quickly and neatly coordinated into coloumns of 10-15 people,filling the entire parking lot in the most orderly way possible.a quick glance to the left,then the right, gave me an idea of some of the people i would be working with,and depending on for my life,and visa versa.

My train of thought was instantly interrupted when the Coast guard Liason officer shouted out "Good morning applicants!" To wich we replied,with great vigor i may add "Good morning m'am!" to which she said she couldnt hear us,and thus we repeated ourselves at the top of our lungs,probably loud enough to be heard clear to the highway.Everyone there was there becuase they wanted to be,and they were motivated.Good,they would need it,it was bound to be a long day.

i was stripped down,tapped up,weighed in,stretched out,charted down,dressed up,and sent back on my way to the army liason office before i knew what was happening.little did i know that i had a 4 hour wait ahead of me.crappy beurocractic system,MEPS should of been staffed by military personnel,civies have this smugness to them in that they do not work as hard as they can,and they feel holier then thou.the abuse of power could sometimes be rampant,as many were kicked out for simple offenses such as laying their heads down.

the hours became much easier to bear when i met my future comrade, Steven Newton.both of us wanted the same thing:Infantry.and we are both leaving at the same time.after hours of chatting we quickly learned much about each others past,our motives and goals for the Army,and established a bond of trust as if we had known each other for years.

after much back and forth,paperwork,and anonymous BS,i settled with Cannon crewmember,as waiting till august for infantry was silly,as i could do that easily enough once i hit the sandbox anyway,especially if i go through ranger school.

im tired.very much so,ill cut this entry short for now.long story short,im in,at the rank of private,and i will ship at April 4th to a fort in oklahoma.

alrighty,some of you are already aware of this as i have told most of my friends on msn and yahoo whats going down,but for some of my friends here on ET that are a bit out of the loop heres the deal: Ill be heading to basic training in around 3 weeks.Its a 12 week long ordeal so i wont see you guys for quite awhile.wish me luck and best wishes to all my friends here.

got bored on youtube again

well folks,ive been weighing the likelyhood of getting a seat in a fixed wing aircraft in the air force,the pay,the time spent flying,and the likelyhood of even gettign a slot,with the other 3 branches of the military that provide combat aviation (marines,army,navy) and so far Army looks like the best shot.I wont exactly be flying an F15C (more likely an apache or A-10)but their warrant officer program does not require a college education prior to service (which is a major plus for a poor black guy like me.)

tell me whatcha think?being a gunner sounds pretty bad ass.
