Aryn laid an egg today O.e;;;; But my two birds hate each other... its not likely its fertilized, because they fight all the frickin time. If its a dud, how can I tell. I heard about candling the egg, but there aren't any decent pictures on the internet, and some of the descriptions match the egg, some don't. I don't want to kill the potential chick if it is fertilized. But I don't want Aryn to keep laying them.
What should I do?
(They have a makeshift nesting box that I made a while ago for fun in there, and they know what it is, but they chase each other out of it all the time. Should I take Jojo out? She had some of his feathers in her beak right when I walked into the room, but once she saw me she calmed down and hasn't actively attacked him. More like the opposite. Jojo's been snippy with her.)
Ended up letting the pigeon go this morning, he had at least a safe night and some water, and I'm sure he was a homing pigeon with the way he took off. Fly free red 13!
I just caught a pigeon. A frickin' pigeon. The poor thing was sitting outside my kitchen window, looking all ghost-like (cause it's mostly white) and at first I thought it was a reflection of my cockatiel in the window.
Due to the extreme amount of predators in our neighborhood (like... toooooons of cats) I was kinda worried about it. And it wasn't wary of me getting within a few feet of it. So, I figured it was banded. And I was right. It has a red band on its right leg with a black 13 on it.
I don't know what this means... but I looked some stuff up, like the american association of pigeons or something so its not a part of that due to the band. I gave it some water, and some wheat rice cause a website said they can eat that. It's kinda dirty, but looks in fairly decent state, just tired and dirty.
