Well, my whole family officially knows about my engagement to Matt now. And they are very supportive and congratulatory about it all. I think my Dad was the most shocked out of everyone, but he has been vacationing over in Singapore, Jakarta and Bali for the past few weeks, and I told him today just as he got back to Paris. So, it was a lot to take in suddenly, poor guy hehehhe But he seemed very happy for me, and of course eager to meet Matt. I told him he could talk to his brother, my uncle, since I took Matt to meet them last month. My family who -has- met Matt really like him a lot and think very highly of him (boy, ya got 'em fooled, honey! jkjk). I've told all my really close friends and they were pretty shocked, too, because I have never been the type to go on about wanting or needing to get hitched, and now here I am the giddy bride to be. They haven't met Matt yet, but I just know they'll love him, too. The one friend I haven't told is the girl who I want to ask to be my Maid of Honor, but she has been out of town for the last two weeks. I think she gets back on Sunday and I can't wait to ask her. I hope she says yes!
I am sorry if I haven't been as chatty or participating in wikis and stuff a lot here lately... I have so much on my mind right now. Matt will be here in a few weeks and moving in with me - I just can't wait! I look forward not only to our wedding - the biggest event of our lives - but also all the little, mundane, day to day things we will do together... taking walks, staying in bed all day, going grocery shopping, folding laundry, being couch potatoes, playing video games, drawing, reading quietly together, lots of hugging and lots of kissing *sigh*
I look forward to all those things that come with a relationship.

Matt, I can't wait to be with you all the time. I can't wait to be your wife.
I love you, sweetheart...
xoxo

I am drawing something for the Fables & Fairytales Contest and decided to do Little Red Riding Hood. I vaguely remembered the orginal Grimm Bros. tale, but really, I had forgotten how very gory it is! lol

Little Red Cap
By Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
Once upon a time there was a sweet little girl. Everyone who saw her liked her, but most of all her grandmother, who did not know what to give the child next. Once she gave her a little cap made of red velvet. Because it suited her so well, and she wanted to wear it all the time, she came to be known as Little Red Cap.

One day her mother said to her, "Come Little Red Cap. Here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine. Take them to your grandmother. She is sick and weak, and they will do her well. Mind your manners and give her my greetings. Behave yourself on the way, and do not leave the path, or you might fall down and break the glass, and then there will be nothing for your sick grandmother."

Little Red Cap promised to obey her mother. The grandmother lived out in the woods, a half hour from the village. When Little Red Cap entered the woods a wolf came up to her. She did not know what a wicked animal he was, and was not afraid of him.

"Good day to you, Little Red Cap."

"Thank you, wolf."

"Where are you going so early, Little Red Cap?"

"To grandmother's."

"And what are you carrying under your apron?"

"Grandmother is sick and weak, and I am taking her some cake and wine. We baked yesterday, and they should give her strength."

"Little Red Cap, just where does your grandmother live?"

"Her house is a good quarter hour from here in the woods, under the three large oak trees. There's a hedge of hazel bushes there. You must know the place," said Little Red Cap.

The wolf thought to himself, "Now there is a tasty bite for me. Just how are you going to catch her?" Then he said, "Listen, Little Red Cap, haven't you seen the beautiful flowers that are blossoming in the woods? Why don't you go and take a look? And I don't believe you can hear how beautifully the birds are singing. You are walking along as though you were on your way to school in the village. It is very beautiful in the woods."

Little Red Cap opened her eyes and saw the sunlight breaking through the trees and how the ground was covered with beautiful flowers. She thought, "If a take a bouquet to grandmother, she will be very pleased. Anyway, it is still early, and I'll be home on time." And she ran off into the woods looking for flowers. Each time she picked one she thought that she could see an even more beautiful one a little way off, and she ran after it, going further and further into the woods. But the wolf ran straight to the grandmother's house and knocked on the door.

"Who's there?"

"Little Red Cap. I'm bringing you some cake and wine. Open the door for me."

"Just press the latch," called out the grandmother. "I'm too weak to get up."

The wolf pressed the latch, and the door opened. He stepped inside, went straight to the grandmother's bed, and ate her up. Then he took her clothes, put them on, and put her cap on his head. He got into her bed and pulled the curtains shut.

Little Red Cap had run after flowers, and did not continue on her way to grandmother's until she had gathered all that she could carry. When she arrived, she found, to her surprise, that the door was open. She walked into the parlor, and everything looked so strange that she thought, "Oh, my God, why am I so afraid? I usually like it at grandmother's." Then she went to the bed and pulled back the curtains. Grandmother was lying there with her cap pulled down over her face and looking very strange.

"Oh, grandmother, what big ears you have!"

"All the better to hear you with."

"Oh, grandmother, what big eyes you have!"

"All the better to see you with."

"Oh, grandmother, what big hands you have!"

"All the better to grab you with!"

"Oh, grandmother, what a horribly big mouth you have!"

"All the better to eat you with!" And with that he jumped out of bed, jumped on top of poor Little Red Cap, and ate her up. As soon as the wolf had finished this tasty bite, he climbed back into bed, fell asleep, and began to snore very loudly.

A huntsman was just passing by. He thought it strange that the old woman was snoring so loudly, so he decided to take a look. He stepped inside, and in the bed there lay the wolf that he had been hunting for such a long time. "He has eaten the grandmother, but perhaps she still can be saved. I won't shoot him," thought the huntsman. So he took a pair of scissors and cut open his belly.

He had cut only a few strokes when he saw the red cap shining through. He cut a little more, and the girl jumped out and cried, "Oh, I was so frightened! It was so dark inside the wolf's body!"

And then the grandmother came out alive as well. Then Little Red Cap fetched some large heavy stones. They filled the wolf's body with them, and when he woke up and tried to run away, the stones were so heavy that he fell down dead.

The three of them were happy. The huntsman took the wolf's pelt. The grandmother ate the cake and drank the wine that Little Red Cap had brought. And Little Red Cap thought to herself, "As long as I live, I will never leave the path and run off into the woods by myself if mother tells me not to."

They also tell how Little Red Cap was taking some baked things to her grandmother another time, when another wolf spoke to her and wanted her to leave the path. But Little Red Cap took care and went straight to grandmother's. She told her that she had seen the wolf, and that he had wished her a good day, but had stared at her in a wicked manner. "If we hadn't been on a public road, he would have eaten me up," she said.

"Come," said the grandmother. "Let's lock the door, so he can't get in."

Soon afterward the wolf knocked on the door and called out, "Open up, grandmother. It's Little Red Cap, and I'm bringing you some baked things."

They remained silent, and did not open the door. The wicked one walked around the house several times, and finally jumped onto the roof. He wanted to wait until Little Red Cap went home that evening, then follow her and eat her up in the darkness. But the grandmother saw what he was up to. There was a large stone trough in front of the house.

"Fetch a bucket, Little Red Cap," she said. "Yesterday I cooked some sausage. Carry the water that I boiled them with to the trough." Little Red Cap carried water until the large, large trough was clear full. The smell of sausage arose into the wolf's nose. He sniffed and looked down, stretching his neck so long that he could no longer hold himself, and he began to slide. He slid off the roof, fell into the trough, and drowned. And Little Red Cap returned home happily and safely.

Here is a sample page to give you an idea of the stunning artwork Darrow does:

So, he goes to the jewelers and doesn't know my ring size. Figures, my finger is probably comparable in size to his pinky. Sure, that seems reasonable... and the salesperson assures him that a 7 is the standard size... so that's what he gets me.

Still waiting on the resizing... down to a 4 3/4... twas a lil bitty bit big on me finger, lover ;)

Anyway, Matt, I can't wait to put it on and have it snugly around my finger as a reminder of our love and devotion to each other.
I love you! XO T~

Well, that was the best weekend I've ever had. And it was only a glimpse of what the rest of my life will be like with Matt. I know there are a lot of jaded, cynical people out there, but you just don't know us, and how we feel about each other, so I can understand why you'd think that way. This is definitely "the guy" for me. This is the one. I know that there will never be anyone more perfectly suited for me, and more importantly, no one that could ever come close to treating me as precious and special as he can. His kindness and thoughtfulness never fail to astound me. As much as he'd like you to think he is Evil heheh he is a gentleman and a romantic in the truest sense. I've never been loved so purely and completely. Nor have I ever felt this very same way about anyone before. That is how I know that he is the one for me.
In two weeks, I will be going to FLorida to meet his parents. We'll spare you all the countdown this time heheheh I am nervous about meeting them, as I want to make a good impression. Matt did so well meeting my family. They were all impressed and liked him a great deal. That means a lot to me, and it also solidifies my feeling that we are meant to be together.
After my trip south in two weeks, that will be the last back and forth we will have to do. Early September he will be here for good. My house is small, but it feels quite empty without him now. Come home, Matt! I miss you! =}
I love you so very much.
xoxo

1. Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just leave me the hell alone.

2. It's always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it

3. Sex is like air. It's not important unless you aren't getting any.

4. Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.

5. No one is listening until you fart.

6. Always remember you're unique. Just like everyone else.

7. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

8. If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

9. Don't worry; it only seems kinky the first time.

10. Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

11. Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving.

12. Experience is something you donĂt get until just after you need it.

Five more days and Mother Nature decides she wants to make us sweat a little bit. It's okay though (or at least that's what I try to tell myself) because it will make him getting here all the sweeter. I hear Dennis lost some gusto, though *keeps fingers crossed*
I know there are a lot of cynics out there, and well, frankly, I just don't care. I love this guy - I have loved other people before in my life, and this feeling I Have now makes me question whatever it was I felt before... because it was nothing like this. I've never wanted to take anyone home to meet the parents. I've never been so excited to include someone in my life. I've never felt so lucky to be with someone and at the same time, like they feel so grateful to have me by their side as well.
After a lot of years being ignored, alone, desolate and full of despair my life has taken a complete 180degree turn and the fates smile upon me. The life I lead now is such a charmed existence. And the icing on my cake is absolutely [Evilmonk]. I can't wait for him to be here with me permanently (in September he's leaving that disaster area AKA Pensacola) and to have the opportunity each and every day to show him how much he means to me.

I love you, Matt.
Completely and utterly.

I hate to jump on any bandwagons... but...
ok fine fine FINE!!!

Batman Begins was SOOOOOO FRIGGIN COOOOOOOOOL! =B
My favorite Batman movie yet. Christian Bale was perfection. Michael Cain was awesome comic relief. And how can you beat a supporting cast of Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Rutger Hauer? YOU BLOODY WELL CAN'T!

My only only gripe was everytime I saw Katie Holmes I thought about Tom Cruise and his super-dorkdom on the Oprah show (http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2005/cruise-oprah.php?gobackto=search) Forget what's in the Gotham water supply - what are Scientologists slippin' in Tom's drink?
And... ok... I saw the War of the Worlds preview tonight, too.. and YEAH I wanna go see it *sigh* despite Tom's super dorkdom, it looks like a kick ass movie.

Oh wait... another gripe about Batman Begins... not enough Scarecrow... but, I suppose, that just leaves the door open for a sequel *crosses fingers* Just as long as Christian Bale returns as Batman!

Went in for an 8 week follow up visit today and the doctor told me to stop lifting anything over 15 pounds, damn it. I could have a post operative hernia where my incision busts open on the inside where the muscles haven't healed completely and me guts would come pouring forth. Well... needless to say, that was enough of a disturbing mental picture to make me NOT wanna push the whole lifting thing. Oh, and no sit ups or anything like that yet. So, pretty much I can stretch and walk as far as exercise goes, at least for another couple of months. So, maybe some light yoga, but no weight training or Aikido yet. Nyah, I have a doctor's note to be lazy heheh

Another month and a half and I can have a glass of wine with dinner. Yay! Gotta keep my liver primed, y'know.

My Uncle is doing really fantastic. Aside from some swelling due to fluids, which is mostly uncomfortable and a nuisance, he is strong and energetic. Him and my Aunt have been to the opera and the symphony a couple of times now, and have been going out to eat on occaision. I hope this time next year, they'll be able to do some travelling - at least domestically if not international.
