"The World You Carry"
By
Jeffrey MB Hibbard
For every boulder you carry, I want to share.
Every tear that you cry, take my hand and wipe it clean.
As your days are longer, as you slowly become stronger,
For every heartfelt tear, I want to show you my smile,
And relieve you of your fears.
As we split paths upon our trail to adulthood,
My hopes are higher than the sky
That our paths meet again to join hands again
The memories still exist as your scars remain.
Life lessons shall be learned as you live on.
Choices give a challenge to one's life.
These are the words of not an artist,
But a dreamer that makes them a reality.
Feeling so alone and cold,
The one person you forgot
Is standing right behind you, waiting to reach out
And shield you from danger and falsehood.
From one pain to another,
These are pains I want to share.
Let us not fight the cruel world alone,
But let us fight two as one.
One shattered dream to another shattered heart.
I shall protect the remains of your heart
If you will protect mines shattered pieces.
One by one, day by day, a slow realization as we
Discover that our hearts are puzzle pieces.
One by one, day by day, clip one match to another.
Our days become longer as they join one another
One day soon, one heart will be full again.
One that I will not call mine,
One you will not call yours.
At that hour it shall be called ours.
