MY FIRST PARAGRAPH IN MY NOVEL, "THACKDOR AND THE KEEPER OF THE KEYS"
The country is Great Britain, and the town is Cristobel Heights. The sun rose at its usual time, and the fall wind blew against the chimes, raising Shane from his sleep. Shane was a small, bespectacled boy of twelve. His red, bowl cut hair accented his small, green eyes. He reached over to his nightstand, and grabbed his brown glasses. He pulled the cord that gave light to his room. Now, he was ready to start a new day.
Shane peered out of his bedroom window and spotted Craig, his next-door neighbour and one of the school bullies. Craig was on all fours, but Shane could not make out what he was doing. Shane walked over to the bed in which Constantine was sleeping and shook him. Constantine had been living with Shane and his family for quite some time now.
“Come on, wake up,” he added with more force, “I have something to show you.”
Constantine rolled over and yawned. He licked his dry lips and scratched his head.
“This better be good, mate,” scoffed Constantine. Constantine arose from the pile of covers and pillows put on his blue, wholly socks, and walked over to the window.
“What are we supposed to be looking at?”
“There he goes again,” said Shane, shaking his head emphatically.
“I’m sorry, but there who goes?”
“Craig, eating dirt outside, on his lawn.” Constantine peered out the window, and flicked a ladybug away from his view. Sure enough, Craig was outside on all fours, hunting
for dirt like a bloodhound. Constantine shook his head.
