Dear Journal,
Here it is, almost Thanksgiving and I am not excited at all! Maybe, I would be if we were celebrating it in the tradition of the "Old Ways" like I did before I moved to a whole new area. We did not have anyone share in the celebration of sharing food, friendship and conversation that was not liked by others for the sake of them being family. We put together a time where those that we loved, liked and enjoyed their company. We even invited Mr. Copper, the man across the street, who always met us with a friendly "Hello" each and every time we met. It was wonderful having him share the food, laughter and just sitting around talking and I am sure he was thrilled to be there too, because his wife had past away leaving him with many lonely holidays.
I do not think of Thanksgiving as a family time as much as a time to be with everyone you truly enjoy being with. I like to think of it as a time for thanks and a time for giving... friendship.
