My dad's voice

I will listen next time , I remember last time
After all, through us all, it was only yesterday
Your whistling found me ,clear and clean, i know it well
Edlewiess it was most always,especially Saturdays


I'd go following that sound,in the days of yesterday
Is he in the garden, no I hear the workman's drill
it's coming from his workshop,what's he making there today
I try peeking trough the windowpane, he's there bathed in the light

and so i enter quietly, his smile it draws me in
looking about i find the things
I'm needing to begin
watching me, he's happy, it's when the magic starts


My dad and I together
far from the other noise
Nice working there together
we can hear each other's voice

In the morning it is Sunday
we walk to church alone
with my hand in his we find our place
and we join our friends in song

which is where this story started
but it's not where it will end
because tonight when i'm sleeping
