12:15 — Well, well, this day has started better than I could've ever imagined. I uploaded the colored drawing of Tylien Taiveme'le to Elfwood, yay. Well, today I logged back to the extranet to see that my fellow mod had actually put it in the highlights! I squeed. As I went to look at it on the mainpage, I witnessed a funny coincidence. Two of the three highlights were done by Elfwood mods, that is, myself and another moderator. Now that's a thing you do not see often! And likely will never see again either. *print screen*

15:58 — I know it's too early to celebrate and thus this is risky, but... My day has been wonderful this far! It did start rather normally, though I did wake up and get up half an hour earlier than I thought I would because I had gone to sleep half an hour earlier in the night and my brain obviously didn't wrap itself around that concept. But who cares, I got to role-play more in Realms of Lemire! Next I went off to school. It was 0°C and the car windows had frost, but either I happened to grab the good window-scraper or the frost wasn't as bad as it was two days ago (even though back then the temperature was a whole degree higher). The window got all misty and I only realized it wasn't coming off after I'd started driving. So, let's put the air flow to maximum. By the time I got to the highway my front window was clean, yay. I turned off the heating and shivered in the car for the rest of the way, but at least the radio loudspeakers didn't die like they do if the car's too warm! The first class I had was circuit analysis exercises. I hadn't done them due to lack of time, so I just followed the assistant's notes, and was among the first to finish the extra exercise, so I left and went back to... role-playing! Then there was a class, and then food. They had pizza, not very good, but it was pizza! The basic computer science exercises were so easy I just laughed at them until I noticed I had no idea what they wanted for the last part of the exercise, so I once again asked the assistant. The whole stuff was over in approximately 15 minutes, though it took longer because I checked Elftown, wondered what they wanted of my exercise and waited for the assistant. Well, after that I still had 1,5 hours to the digital electronics exercise. Back to Elftown and stuff! It was down for a while, so I walked to the next building in the campus and found it was up. Having nothing to do, I just read my RPG posts until I was logging out, going to go up and maybe do the digital electronics exercises (I had done 3 of 4, though I didn't know it then because I didn't know I had guessed right on one of them). At that time, something REALLY weird happened. You'll have to message me about that and I won't guarantee I'll tell, but believe me, it was one of the weirdest things that ever happened to me. I got the last digital electronics exercise done as the class started, and having done them all, showed them to the assistant who, despite one minor thing, said they were okay. And off I went! As I got home and online again, I noticed one artist I know had finished a picture she was drawing for me! Not only that, as I went to DA to check that picture, I saw that the MAX drawing for me had come in, too!
So here we have Meg Wolf's drawing of Kim: http://www.dev
Squee! I wouldn't have believed that days could be near perfect. Consequently, the day'll probably be hell from now on. XD
22:15 — My day hasn't gotten worse yet. I've happily been drawing some wings and stuff. I'm tired though, so I should probably go to sleep. But heck, I want to finish this picture. It's been a good day indeed! However, I did realize something. When one is marking down the date as ambiguous as the date of today (01.10.), one should forget the digital electronics and not think right afterwards why one was thinking of the first day of February.
Major cliché warning. "There are 10 kinds of people. Those who know binary and those who don't."
22:43 — Oookay. I seem to have lost SOME weight. About 4 kg. I weighed 67,4 kg just a minute ago. Which is apparently less than what my little sister [Levoton] weighs!
23:22 — Okay... it must not be good to sleep less than six hours on several consecutive nights, eat less than normally, be a little tired and still fail to do homework in time. But well... I AM having fun!
By the way, see the entry just below this one. On that very same night, three hours later, I crawled into the channel, TWICE, plugged all my new drawings and modded a tour. I'm so not addicted, har.
17:17 — It's been four days since I last was on the mod channel. Now I'm thinking every ten minutes something like "I wonder how Mod#1 is doing", "I wonder what they're talking about now...", "are there any interesting tickets out there?", "I need help from Mod#2" and so on. I'm addicted. I wonder how long I can keep myself from going there...
21:58 — I've now finished Imajica! Stars, what a book. It was the first ever fantasy book I read, and will probably be the last... at least for now, who knows what I'll pick up in the future? I only disliked one thing, and that was that my favorite character didn't get enough page-time.
Well, now my list of favorite books includes not only The Left Hand of Darkness, but Imajica too. *squee*
10:49 — I realized I really suck at drawing clothes. Let's list all the different pieces of clothing I can do:
Feet: socks (plain socks, nothing to them), running shoes, winter boots, rubber boots, felt boots
Lower body: tracksuit pants, jeans, shorts, skirt (even though it mostly looks like a sheet wrapped over the lower body), underpants
Upper body: T-shirt, sleeveless T-shirt, sweatshirt, women's top thing, undershirt, tight shirt (what some girls tend to wear), vest, normal jacket, leather jacket, sports jacket, trench coat, winter coat (no, I can't even draw a bra)
Whole body: kids' winter overall, kid's pull-up thing, a very plain women's dress
Hands: mittens, winter gloves, biking gloves
Head: cap, winter cap, winter hat
23:23 — Argh! Yet another reason why Photoshop sucks mightily. I worked on a drawing, coloring it, for something like... an hour. A lot of work. No crash. Then, I leave for a minute while the computer does absolutely nothing... and CRASH! There goes an hour of work. PSP never did that. At least it first went slow before crashing, so I could do a quick save. I hate Photoshop. I won't use it anymore, except maybe for comp outlines, which come better than is PSP.
20:14 — My vision is trashed. I've been reading Imajica for the whole freaking day. It's one frigging amazing book. And there's so much of it!
02:38 — There was one thing about the Finnish translation what really got me. In the seventeeth chapter, a certain line was translated as "Palaako hän?" (does he return). Well, on the original it read "Does he burn?", which ALSO translated to "palaako hän". XD
And I gather the verbs:
Palata (to return)
palaan I return palaat you return palaa s/he returns palaamme we return palaatte you return palaavat they return
palan I burn palat you burn palaa s/he burns palamme we burn palatte you burn palavat they burn
22:32 — I got the original English version of The Left Hand of Darkness today and speed-read through it. Squee. Some points were made clearer, but still, language-wise, the Finnish one was better. And not just because I didn't understand rather many of the English words... Finnish fits better, maybe because there's so much talk about the snow and climate, which is similar to Finland. And the Finnish vocabulary matches the culture and climate pretty well. That and our superior uni-sex pronouns.
14:06 — OMFG. Blind Guardian singing happy happy joy joy songs. Ô_Ô ...Holy crapmonkeys!! They're singing "Barbara Ann". I mean... so not Blind Guardian style. XD
Er, yeah. I got Clive Barker's Imajica in mail today. I only ordered it on last Friday. Darn fast, wow. I need to start reading... when I get over my laziness... I also ordered the original English version of The Left Hand of Darkness, but that didn't come yet. I want to have the Finnish translation too, but I can find it in bookstores... maybe I should go pillage second-hand bookshops instead.
My graduation party went relatively okay... My mom managed to mess up almost every photo she took, though... I can only hope my uncle took better pictures.
I got my laptop, too. I also got it set up and working, and even my network cable works in it. Now I only wonder whether or not WLAN works on it. I'm not familiar with that stuff.
I still didn't get my student card. Sigh. Well, maybe on Friday then...
13:24 — OMG. I haven't touched The Left Hand of Darkness for a day. From the two days I read it for the first time, I've been rereading some bits and chunks from it and I can intellectually quote some pieces of the text. Yay! XD But now I haven't touched it for a day. Meep. I need to buy my own copy of it. I must. And a copy of the original English one, too.
I just had my first truly boring math class. I'm not exactly certain that my tiredness wasn't involved, but it sure was boring! I mean, like if x + a = y + a, I'd just really feel like stating the obvious (x = y) and not go into statements like y + 0 = y and a + (-a) = 0. Sure it's understandable that way, but I think of stuff with the help of a graphical representation
21:01 — I just decided not to go to the university morning classes tomorrow. Har!
21:03 — Oh and the info I need sure is NOT on the webpages of the courses.
21:08 — And one more thing. The Left Hand of Darkness! http://elfwood
22:24 — Sigh... I got up at about 13, reread a few parts of The Left Hand of Darkness and then my mom asked me and my little sister to vacuum and wash our cars. Well, there we go... At about 18 we were done, and now I'm rather tired. Even if it's only half to 23, hah. Not sleepy though.
01:29 — I just watched Scanners (1981). It was on TV. Not much of a movie, but it was strangely enjoyable, and who would care about anything else as long as it has mutant telepaths! Squee. It's half to two and I don't think I'll go to university tomorrow. Who wouldn't know everything about websites and viruses already.
But I did like the movie. I have to count exactly how many minutes the protagonist and antagonist try to blow each other's brains out! XD
17:58 — Yes... the first thing they teach in basic computer science is... how to use IRC in the class! It was this close that I didn't start drawing, but somehow I just felt that I'm perfectly good just sitting there.
I'm trying to draw something from The Left Hand of Darkness. Wish me luck. Drawing scenes or just characters from books is very demanding... I've tried at least once before, and failed miserably, which greatly decreased my urge to draw book characters. But here I go again...
20:49 — I started in the Technical University of Tampere yesterday. Tomorrow I'll have my first university lesson. They have a role-playing club. I think I'll go take a look at it. I wonder if they have an art or writing club.
I had a weird dream (or nightmare) not last night, but the night before that, I think. In the dream, I had problems with my right big toe. I could see the veins and goo, generally the inside of my foot from that piece. The weirder part was that my real foot was IN there, like it was a sock, but it was just the big toe and the next two toes. The thing also behaved like a sock, because it rolled down a bit sometimes. I was there, looking at it and going: "This can't be real." But I still didn't figure that it was a stupid dream! I think I want it to be real. Just to get something exciting into my life. Sad, eh? And in real life, I have some very small trouble with my LEFT big toe. Yay... Well, I've never been very good at telling left and right apart.
And Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness is a wonderful book.
20:32 — My (new?) favorite book is Ursula Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness.
05:40 — Har, I'm staying up through the night today! ...I think I need sleep.
17:10 — I and a few other mods had a really long and frantic conversation about what's offensive (yes, a picture to be modded started it), and ended up discussing swastikas and burning crosses. Well, I won't go into that, but I started thinking about swastikas. If you don't mind that it represents Nazis, i. e. try to forget it and stuff, I think it's a really neat symbol/mark thing. I just like it. I wish I could use it, but in nowaday's world, I just couldn't get away with it no matter how much I claimed that the mark doesn't represent Nazis. Sigh. Oh well...
