16:39 — Summer vacation, month two: bored and braindead. Even more, our router is making this dangerous noise. I'm guessing it'll break any day now. Our X-box is being an asshole too.
19:06 — It's inhumanely hot here. Unacceptable. Disgusting. Sick. Braindead. -_-
There's probably something wrong when it's possible to just be (like sit in front of the computer), maybe with the fan on, and not be uncomfortably warm or anything, but the thing that makes me sick is the fact that the air is too warm when it reaches my lungs. Breathed in air should be cold and feel like razors in your lungs if you breathe too fast.
I rewatched Ghost in the Shell a couple of hours ago. Maybe not the best thing to do when you're feeling braindead.
13:04 — I've been productive today. I went to an optic's office and got a reservation for an eye doctor to check this dynamic squint of mine. I also went to the post office to get the new SIM chip for my cell phone, since they sent me a new one. After that I went to eat some breakfast at Rolls, heh. I saw a driving school next to the Rolls, so what the heck, I just went there and took care of my second stage driving lessons thing.
I'm so proud of myself. (Yes, all this before [Levoton] even woke up.)
21:19 — Holy crap. Bloody damn. It's inhumanely hot in here. I melt! And I can't place my little fan near the computer because it makes the screen flicker. Sigh.
17:07 — MINESWEEPER TOURNAMENT!
17:10 — Bloody hell. Don't you just hate it when you're playing minesweeper, and then suddenly BAM, you hit the wrong mouse button.
17:14 — Bloody hell!
08:18 — Weird. Some years ago I decided I wouldn't speak to anyone who actually believed in those religious stuffs that most people get stuffed down their throats. Well, after that I met some decent people who did believe in something, even if in their own way. They weren't fanatics or anything, and so I talked to them anyway.
On Elftown I've met even some rather fanatic believers and found some of them okay, at least most of those who talked civilly with me, and since most of the uncivil ones don't get past the first message, that gets better. It's strange, but apparently after having bad impressions from real life, TV and random people's houses and websites, the world decided to give me something decent. (And now I'll wait in fear the smiting for saying that.) Hm, that sounded divine. Oh well.
Well, I still think that a need to believe in something divine etc. is a rather serious mental condition that should receive some sort of treatment if it goes too fanatic.
On a similar issue, after I had grown up a bit, I decided I wouldn't talk to anyone who would deny simple basic rights from people and discriminate them just because of gender-related issues (namely homosexual marriage in this case). Well, after a bit of dwelling I've even found decent people who oppose it and are just otherwise overall decent. It's kind of strange, again.
Here I thought most of those people are immoral bastards, but apparently they're only immoral bastards when regarding some issues. Yeah, I still can't understand why these people discriminate others because of gender. And even more, how the heck they can call themselves morally superior or even moral at all when doing that.
I'm a weird person, I know. :P
17:43 — My ultimate phone conversations. "Lehkone. Hei. Eio. Eio. Jo. Hei." (Translation: "Lehkone'. Hi. No. No. 'K. Bye.") Whole duration: thirteen seconds.
That's like the third random telephone marketer yesterday and tomorrow who asked for my parents. I'm getting pissed. Maybe I should just tell them that yeah, I'm my parents and then tell them no-no-no-no-no
01:24 — I worked on an obscene animation for a long time today. It's not good, but the longer I look at it, the more I laugh. XD It loops magnificently. Er, okay, maybe not, but still.
01:26 — Oh, and I partitioned my HDs differently after all. (Blame [True, plain and simple] for that.) I only have three partitions now, C (60 GB), D (30 GB) and E (40 GB). Somehow I'm sure I will regret this later.
18:56 — Phew. I shouldn't have left my room... It smells like detergent everywhere else except the kitchen where it smells like soup. neither of those stenches goes well with pudding. >_<
23:17 — I squee. I've got the OS back and the stuff worked fine. :D All is well. Okay, after using the laptop keyboard for a while, it miffs me that the keys on my normal keyboard are so faded. Well, small inconvenience. They'll eventually fade anyway.
00:34 — Bloody FUCK what a mess my computer is. It's just unbelievable.
First I couldn't get this OS cd to boot at all, did three copies in slightly different ways, no. Eventually I just dug out my Roxio Easy CD Creator and installed that one my comp, because if it was done with that, it would work (I only had Nero). Oh joy, ECDC doesn't recognize my DVD drive. WTF. So I tried to download updates, no luck. After that I panicked for a bit before I just took the damn boot file and one of the three CDs I'd made, went to [Levoton]'s computer (I was weirdly lucky I had picked a somewhat old CD recorder for her, so ECDC recognized it. Then I created the CD and finally got the booting CD to work. More problems followed.
After those had been solved and I'd installed a few other programs, a new tragedy hit me. There was not enough space on C:! Windows couldn't fit there properly, even though it had installed. Well, let's dig out the good ol' Partition Magic... which would not boot. So I dug out my old Win98SE boot floppy and shoved that in. Worked fine. I took that floppy out and put in the PQ one, and it worked. The next horror was the total chaos over three thrice-damned physical HDDs. C is full, D is the C of Key's old HDD, E is my old D, F is my old E, G is my old F, H is my old G, I is Key's old D, J is Key's old E and K is my DVD drive. Stars, what a mess. In addition to that, my new C is NTFS formatted while all the other drives and FAT32 formatted. Keeeeel. PQ does not resize!
Okay. I'm moving all the files on the smallest HDD (wow, they fit), and I will take that down and format the bloody HDDs! Bwaha! Bwahaha!
I'll have to install the OS again. And ALLLLL the programs and setting and urk... Stars. Sigh.
I won't make so many drives anymore. Let's see...
HDD0: 60 GB
HDD1: 30 GB
HDD2: 40 GB (Key's)
I'll make
C: OS, 10 GB of HDD0
D: Programs, 20 GB of HDD0
E: My stuff, 30 GB of HDD0
F: All of HDD1, 30 GB
G: All of HDD2, 40 GB
...That's like my original configuration, except with 2/3 more space.
01:05 — In addition to that, I just can't seem to be able to get our network stuff to work. It's inhuman. Krhm. >_>
14:50 — Sigh. I was in bed for like 12 hours or so. Slept maybe nine, though. I still feel tired. Maybe it's something I ate. I feel stuffed and would like to eat even though I haven't actually been hungry during the past few days. Damn food.
19:07 — I'm tired for some reason. I didn't sleep too bad or too well last night, but I could've slept more. the night before that, then again... well, I could've slept longer than four hours.
I took my mom to the Tampere airport today. When I was driving back, there was this nice song on one station: "Sixteen tons of hardware" by Bodies Without Organs. It's been a looooong while since I listened to radio. Nevertheless, the next song I caught on another station was called "Sweet sixteen" (hah, the coincidence) which I'd heard a good 8 years ago. :D ...Stars. I'm old.
But the heck, I can't seem to be able to find that song on Amazon nor anywhere else. I want it.
21:15 — Heh, I'm insanely busy, but in a good way. RPG stuff, RPG stuff, drawings, writing, comics and more RPG stuff. :D And I'm still being lazy. This laptop configuration isn't my favorite.
15:55 — I'm going to kill myself. I can't believe my computer didn't work properly because the hard drive cable was attached wrong. -_- Excuse me while I curl up in a corner and cry.
Sigh. I just wish there was someone in this house who could doublecheck for me before I have to take it to the store. But no, they're hopeless. Or if I even had some friends... but no. I wonder what stupid mistake I do next.
01:19 — It's been one damn hectic weekend. On thursday my computer broke. On Friday, my uncle came and got me so we could drive to Joensuu. I took the computer to the computer store to get fixed, then drove a good six or so hours to Joensuu while one of my little princess cousins wanted to listen to Smurf musics in the car. I'd have died if I didn't have my mp3 player. At least I got to jump on the huge trampoline in the gas station we usually visit. Once we got to my granny's house, we didn't do much anything except ate and went to sleep. I got to sleep up in the attic again. That place is hot as hell and very light in the morning, and evening. I only slept maybe five hours during Friday night. On Saturday we drove around and carried boxes and whatever. In Sunday morning my granny's house was nearly empty, and I got to sleep better because I could move the bed and figure out a better way to keep the window open and minimize the noise. I still apparently got too little sleep. We then drove around hectically and eventually ended up eating and leaving. Six hours of Smurfs again. I was tired. I barely stayed awake when I drove, but I got better after the stop at the gas station, probably because I got my candy out of my backpack.
BLAH. Typo control tomorrow. Z_z
13:08 — Wow, no typos really. I feel better. And whee, it's cold in here!
18:48 — A bit too cold... I want my computer back. I'm tired.
14:23 — Well isn't this just great. The OS of my desktop fashionably made the BIOS amazingly slow and then refused to load. I ran scandisk from my bootdisk for C:, nothing. I ran scandisk from the OS install CD, nothing. I reinstalled the OS, nothing. I tried to do something (anything) with my Mandrake Move CD, nothing. I formatted C:, nothing. I tried Mandrake Move again, nothing. The BIOS is still ungodly slow and I can only get the bootdisk to work. Sigh -_-
18:45 — Computer update. When I start the computer, it detects the drives, no problem. But after that, it stalls and doesn't do anything. It won't load from the hard drive or CD, and first not even the floppy. It takes a million years to prepare if there is a floppy in there. I reset the BIOS settings, and it seemed to like that since it could finish the OS reinstallation
I can get to the HD by waiting until it accepts the floppy, and I can access the CD by using the floppy. I ran ScanDisk from both the boot floppy and the install CD to check the HD, no faults found. It once gave a fatal I/O error, and if I try my Mandrake Move CD, it gives an I/O error as well. In addition to not finding the monitor, that is.
I'm trying to do one more thing before I finally say that I'm taking it back to the store. It is nice to get a new motherboard, though. I can get more memory too, plus a nicer power supply. That sounds pretty nice... if only all the rest of my stuff will work on the new motherboard.
18:36 — Yay! I got my GPRS connection working, plus I changed my mobile phone connection type so that it won't cost that much anymore. Also, today's been much cooler than yesterday, so I'm happy. I can only hope it will stay as cool. For the whole summer, preferably.
19:49 — I'm prepared to go to Joensuu now. Gotta like the GPRS connection. First I'll go to Joensuu this weekend to help my granny move, and then the weekend after that to go into the graduation party of a kid of the friends of my parents.
17:04 — I have to go to Joensuu again next weekend. Hvae to go and help my granny move. I got that I'll be going there with my uncle or something. Sigh... two or three days of internetless time... Hmm. Maybe I could try and figure out how GPRS or whatever it is works. I wonder whether my aunt there has a net connection. I could always go to my over to parents' friends, they have a connection at least. I really gotta figure how to get my laptop and cellphone working together for a connection.
I'm actually working on my first RPG now.
12:02 — I got my symbiote cut today. Now it's all short, whee. I was getting bored of the long hair being in the way all the time, in addition to the fact that I kept breaking and ripping it all the time with my claws. I just have that tendency, similar to some people's need to chew on their nails, I guess. The short hair was getting too long, too, it was always in my eyes and stuff. Oh well, maybe I won't suffer from heat as much either anymore.
I wonder if I should upload a photo...
16:22 — Elfwood and Extranet are back! Go wild!
23:29 — I have to quote Mikrobitti (Finnish computer magazine) who quoted, well... it's a quote, okay. I just liked it.
Kuten eräs irc-keskusteli
Sad attempt at translation:
As an ircer once put it: when somebody asks something in irc, they just can't (don't know how to), when someone sends a link, it's olde and when someone tells something, no one's interested.
Yes, I know it's old and that no one's interested.
03:24 — Humor from the wee hours!
2005/05/16_03:
00:44 — Let's see... I did some more sufring and rereading. This read is a must. Especially the last one. http://www.cha
Q: If I know that a person identifies as an androgyne, transsexual, or intersexual, may I inquire as to the details of zir biological sex?
A: You may ask after a transgendered person's genital appearance in exactly the same situations where you might ask the length of a man's penis -- that is, if you will excuse M. Manners' language, not bloody often.
15:31 — I might add to that previous that You may ask after a transgendered person's genital appearance in exactly the same situations where you might ask for a photograph of anyone's crotch. Something like that.
I had a nice song on my playlist and thought I'd share some lyrics.
We break our enemies with fear
And we've seen how the tears come around
We built our confidence on wasteland
We've seen how the walls come down
Life Burns
A man dies like a butterfly
Life burns from the touch of the reaper
All things must pass
One love is a crooked lie
The world lies in the hands of evil
And we pray it would last
Life Burns
We have no sympathy for the lost souls
We've chosen the path of disgrace
We give this life to our children
And teach them to hate this place
Life Burns! as performed by Apocalyptica
