00:15 — My parents play war with empty shampoo bottles in our shower room!
12:09 — If I should believe the results printed on the bulletin board of the extended physics course, I got fucking FULL POINTS out of the bloody half-exam! Full points, stars! This is damned contradictory I tell you!
12:06 — I knew it had to happen. I took my car to be washed yesterday, and it came out squeaky clean. This morning on the way to university a bird shat on the windshield. Big bloody whopee!
I nearly missed the first physics lecture because I was having too much fun role-playing and came late to the second one because of the same reason. And again I nearly came late for math lecture and now I'm about to be late for programming. I just stuffed my face full of food, but I feel less sick than I thought I would. Off I go!
21:18 — During the programming lecture I thought mostly about how I'd make a program for making a certain level character for Realms of Lemire. Because I really think I could do it. I grinned like an idiot right in the front row for most of the time. After that I hung around for an hour and then it was gaming for five hours straight. 13,5 hours in university, yay!
08:57 — Humor with blackboard sponges. The lecture hall in which I was sitting for a physics lecture was missing all of the two sponges and the lecturer couldn't find them. Well, when we decided to have a break to find them and some other thing, the lecturer pulled up one blackboard and a sponge ran up behind it over the other board and let out a nice squishy sound as it was revealed to us. Damn that was funny. >_>
22:41 — Humor with plants. There's once again a tiny plant growing out of our shower room's sewer! While it's certainly unsettling, it's bloody funny, too.
16:45 — I wrote my first actual program on Thursday and Friday! Whee!
Krhm. Yeah, big whoopee. I've fiddled with programs and stuff but never really wrote anything from scratch or anything. In any case, I did it with C++ and it prints text to the terminal (command line or whatever you'd like to call it). Specifically, it prints my name, student number and a slogan (interesting assignments eh?). How exciting.
06:32 — The night between Wednesday and Thursday I had a damn weird nightmare. Death and amputations... I was damn scared after I had it, but as usual, it seems hilarious after a day. In other news, I've been sleeping bad lately (stay up too late role-playing, whee). I also went to the police and finally got my permanent driver's license! Good until 2056/03/02! XD
06:56 — Holy shit there's a snowstorm and 5 cm snow on the ground outside!
07:47 — Damn I was smart. I left 15 minutes early because I knew the weather sucked so it'd take longer to drive the 30 km. Well, I was totally right, too. Damn much snow and whatnot, I didn't see any car crashes though, even though the weather was that bad.
21:42 — So thrice-damned BITTER. http://nbtsc.o
10:16 — We got the first snow of this winter yesterday. Nothing actually permanent, but anyway. It was also -4°C outside when I woke up and my car doesn't like that. Unfortunately someone seems to have lost the second heater or just hid it from me to a place I can't think of. Oh well, I suppose the car can handle a cold start for once.
18:21 — And in other news, I got a straight 5 out of engineer math. (5 is best, 1 is acceptable and 0 is failed.)
14:34 — I went to see the Moving Castle anime movie again yesterday, yay. Once again I have too much to do, surprise.
20:54 — Z. Damn tired... of course my muscles hurt now after the tire-changing and I forgot to stretch them even though I did remember it at some point yesterday. I suppose I didn't have much time. Typing up our RPing from the real-life game is surprisingly hard, even when I remember approximately what happened. Online text post games are nice in the way that the log is already there.
21:57 — Our university is changing the degree structure and I angsted over it a lot over all these months. On all pages on the site I read there was very little said and what was said only confused me. I could never find an actual application of which they constantly talked about so I could fill it and send it to some person or something. Well, of course it came there when it was practically too late and I had already given up. I was preparing for this since the beginning and they crushed me by not even tell ing when all the info would be available! Sigh. These kind of things always cause me so much stress.
15:46 — I have once again changed to winter tires. 8 tires and one tiny one from a pushable wagon thing, whatever that is in English. Oh well, I'm happy that's done.
01:10 — I'm more or less dead. Damn tired... the 14 hours in school yesterday, playing for 5 hours straight and getting home at over 21 made me tired, especially since I slept about 6 hours. I got up at 6, went to lectures, went to the RPG club, skimmed through a book, drove home, angsted over Friday's physics exam and tactfully didn't study at all, left for a movie at 19 (Night Watch, yay!) and came back at bit over 23. Tired. Very.
20:21 — Well! Physics exam (half) is over and I aced. I'm not sure why is it that the exam was so much easier this time... I actually managed to write very sensible stuff to all of the questions and got a very sensible answer for all of them. Now my only worry is that I completely misunderstood the questions, answered to the wrong questions, made a whole bunch of carelessness-r
I've been tired, but otherwise it's been a damn good day.
10:08 — I slept so nicely in the break between physics lectures. Alas, but it had to end some time.
13:34 — We had obscenely much fun last night in our 5-hour RPG session. We bursted out laughing many times, mostly at stuff that never happened, but it was insanely fun nevertheless.
21:37 — I spent 14 hours in school today! 1 hour driving, 6 hours lectures, 1,5 hours eating and stuff, 5 hours playing my role-playing game and 0,5 hours driving again. Wheeew.
22:40 — Mom came back with a whole lot of more candy. I have so much of it... my teeth are scared. Today was damn good, but I didn't get any school stuff done. I should study physics (exam on Friday), do exercises, read the programming study papers (though it mostly looks rather trivial to me and my very elementary PHP knowledge), design some stuff into my RPG things and do all sorts of other stuff such as tweaking this computer and installing new programs.
16:44 — So much to do... why is it that tasks tend to pile up at certain times? I should be installing programs and other things and configuring my computer, designing my schedule, taking notes of my time consumption thing for an exercise, going through some physics exercies I haven't figured out, reading the physics lab work papers, reserving a time for physics lab works, figuring out math exercise groups, creating all kinds of pages in the area of an RPG I'm GMing at the moment, overall role-playing in places...
21:09 — Whee! My computer works! And I'm damn embarrassed because there was a small virus thing in my computer and I hadn't noticed it (though I knew it the last time I intalled it and then forgot it). Oh well, lucky that I had a virus-catching program on it that caught it. Yay! Installing and file-copying may begin!
19:14 — I found out a while ago that the OS I installed didn't accept the activation key anymore. So yeah. I then played around with it for a while, copying my files in a better organized way while trying to figure out what to do next. I tried another Windows but it was in Dutch (yay! >_>).
Let's see.
In other news, an online friend of mine was here in my house for the weekend and I'm bouncy. X)
12:38 — I think I know now how to copy the whole of the disk, if this thing just agrees to work, which I doubt, but I have to try. Whee, Windows manual repair with DOS things. The memory I bought yesterday works fine and I like the new HD, too. If this doesn't work, I'll just reinstall windows and transfer and export files and stuff.
In other news, I needed to get a password to reserve my physics lab hours last week, but I forgot, and I apparently can't get them on this week (exam week). My conclusion is based on experience from today. I went to get the password from the lab like I should have, but it seemed the lab was closed. Therefore I went to the other room they said the password could be gotten from, but no one answered my knocking, so I left. That wasted 76 minutes of my life and 60 km worth of diesel.
I was getting frustrated last night at about 1 in the morning with my computer and some other things, so I'm not feeling exactly happy here or anything. I need to also clean up our TV/playing room.
19:06 — Oh stars damnit! I couldn't access my old HD and OS's "My Documents" from the new HD and OS because well, I wasn't the owner or anything. So I tried desperately logging into my old HD and OS to move those damned files. Well, it didn't work, I always got an error no metter what and I even fixed the error. The reason was because I was trying to boot the wrong OS. The old HD came to have three OS choices of "Windows XP Professional" and I kept choosing the second because that's what I had used to temporarily look at things in the old and new HD without them being OS-y. For some reason I just didn't realize that my original OS was the third choice. Of course. Things like this happen to me. And I was just about to give up, too! My carelessness is getting "legendary", should we say. Well, I should be able to export registry and fix all nice things now. Yeah right. Well, at least my files are there and being aggressively copied. Now where exactly is my email?
19:53 — I have killed hamburgers. File-copying is doing good this far... but those were just the files. Now I should copy some system and program files and maybe registry.
21:11 — File-copying is advancing. Now I've once again taken the old HD out, thinking that I won't need to plug it in anymore, except maybe for formatting later. It was a good disk but so bloody damned noisy. This new one doesn't even crunch when I copy!
14:32 — Holy crap! I went to the city again. First to the computer store (used 512 MB memory and a 160 GB HD), then to a big store (whatever they're called in English) (a shirt, wow). I nearly bought myself a trenchcoat but thought it wouldn't be worth it. Besides, most of them were too big. Then I walked further and went to another big store, but didn't buy anything because there were too many people there. I couldn't find a book in the bookstore so I finally went to McDonald's and walked back to the car which I'd left about 4 km away because I just couldn't be bothered to drive around with it and pay a lot of extra for it and worry about getting back to it in time and because I was nearly out of diesel. When I got home, my hands smelled like diesel, hamburger and apple juice, in that order. Well, at least that trip was successful! Now I have a shirt and a new HD!
16:25 — The file-copying seems to be working well. some files aren't copied because the system is annoying, but I'm hoping real hard that won't matter.
16:37 — So much for that... DISK BOOT FAILURE. Recovery install doesn't work because I'm lacking a password. I wonder what it'd do if...
16:47 — Hmm, Let's try my portable linux. Whee, Mandrake Move. On a CD. >_>
...Bwahaha!
Fatal server error: no screens found
fatal IO error 104
can't launch graphical mode :(
exited abnormally :-(
Hilarious.
17:40 — Whoa. The problem with my new HD is "NTLDR is missing". How educational.
19:22 — I tried to fix the problem by using some instructions from a site for that NTLDR problem. It sure helped, but not quite enough... the OS starts very slowly and then eventually stops loading. Now I'll try yet another external thing. I'll download knoppix and try use that to copy my things. Maybe that will work when the Mandrake Move didn't. Damn I'm lucky to have a laptop with a burning CD drive.
19:28 — My new HD's sound imitation:
Seagate Barracuda 160 GB: very high-pitch mosquito.
20:38 — Woohoo! Knoppix works! Now I have to see whether it can copy the whole disk and stuff.
23:05 — I'm getting rather frustrated. Nothing works when I try to copy the files. Knoppix complains about permissions or other things, Partition Magic just won't do it (I blame NTFS because a lot of copy things don't seem to do NTFS system) and so on. I'll try again with Knoppix now that I've once again formatted the new HD. Maybe now it won't complain about the permissions. Yeah, as if.
14:22 — Okay, so. My 60 GB hardrive started making a ton of noise (well, it's always been noisy, but whatever). Today I bothered to test all my HDs for noise.
Deskstar 60 GB: ow, my ears! Drill-imitatin
Deskstar 40 GB: beeeeep?
Maxtor 30 GB: mosquito.
The two deskstars aren't even that much age-different. Maybe it's just bad, then. Oh well, the problem is that all of my stuff takes up about 41 GB. Like, just by coincidence. So it doesn't fit on one HD and I'm not sure about how to copy it all, system files and stuff.
20:28 — I made a lousy backup of whatever it was that I'd changed after the last time I made a backup. Now I should just copy a bunch of system files and... gah if I have to reinstall all my programs and stuff. I think I'll try using WinXP's formatting thing to copy the stuff over. Or my absolutely trusted Win98SE boot floppy. That'd take a year or something.
20:53 — In other news, I killed a math exam today. It was the first course of engineer math. Last year I did the first course of extended math. You wouldn't believe the differences. It's silly. I fail horribly the extended math exam and yet totally ace the engineer math exam (I think, though I probably just jinxed it). This is annoying.
22:54 — I'm bored when I can't really access my regular computer, so I'll just whine about backups. There's this "Transfer files and settings" thing on WinXP that I thought I could use to make a nice backup. Well, okay, cool. So I proceeded, but it made a copy of everything, including this it didn't need to copy. Of course I ran out of disk space. Next, I'd try to not copy all the files. Well, it doesn't let me do that. Therefore I move some files and try to have it compress enough so that it can fit on the damned HD. The whole size of my stuff is 41 GB, if I remember correctly. Now, the disk I'm trying to stuff it all in is 40 GB. Heck, surely there's something with the OS that's taking up 1 GB and doesn't have to be saved. Right? Right? Hell no. This thing is still copying. I'm sure it'll complain sooner or later about disk space. Asshole.
23:02 — Blah blah blah. What could I possibly complain about... Hmm, yeah. I was supposed to go buy a shirt and possibly pants last week. I went to a bunch of different stores and stuff (yeah, mainly the computer shop and a bookstore, but anyway). Okay, a shirt. There's a million of them and I don't know what I want. Million different colors, million different models and a million different other things about clothing that I'm unaware of. Sigh. I'll try again tomorrow. maybe I'll get lucky.
01:07 — I make a note that I watched Zatoichi today. I liked it.
01:26 — Hahaha! [True, plain and simple] made a typo!
[2005/10/08_01:26:15] * Veltzeh hits bed
[2005/10/08_01:26:17] <Veltzeh> night!
[2005/10/08_01:26:18] <True> mnight

13:44 — I was totally convinced yesterday that I need to leave at approximately 12:30 so that I can take this piece of paper to the police so that I can get my permanent driver's license, and then go to lectures that start at 14. So I did just that. After taking the paper to the police, I left for university. Right before the center of Tampere I looked at the time and realized, damnit, the lecture started at 12 and not at 14. It was 13:11 by then, so I snickered, turned around with style and drove home.
