New(er) Features of Elftown

Did you know that, aside from the upgrades he has been doing, [ Hedda ] has implemented some amazing new functions on Elftown? It is now possible to make a wiki page totally private, to where you can pick and choose who can see it and who cannot. Not only this, but you can create polls that allow voters to choose more than one answer on the same poll, and the forum directions have been streamlined a bit, making them easier to navigate. Last but not least, Elfpack has been introduced to help Elftown return to its roots.

Making a private wiki:

Well, first you have to make a private forum, which is simpler than it sounds. You can do so by clicking the “forum” button at the top of your home page or Mainstreet and looking toward the bottom. It is quite self explanatory from there. You can name the forum whatever you want, and can choose to password protect it or not,. As Elftron creates your new forum, it will assign it a number, keep this number in mind for the next step.

Go to the wiki page you want to make private and click “edit.” In the edit box, you will find newer options, such as being able to make the page to where only the owner can edit it, and making the page viewable by members of a certain forum. You will be prompted to give the forum number here, so this is where the forum number of your own private forum is needed. Once you save your changes, you can add people to your private forum, and only they can access your wiki.

Note however, that Guards can access private wikis, but only if there is need, such as harrassment or upload issues.

Creating a multi-vote poll:

This has to be done on a wiki page. When editing the wiki page, you type either < wikipoll> for a regular poll, < voting> for a poll that shows the names of all voters, or < multivoting> for a poll that allows people to vote on more than one answer. When you save your changes, you'll be able to set up the poll like normal. See poll how-to for a more detailed explanation.

The Forums:

Ever thought they were hard to navigate? Well, give them a second chance -- the forums have been streamlined a little to make them easier to understand. They haven't really changed, but the buttons used to navigate them have had their text updated to make them easier to understand.

www.Elfpack.com and beyond…

Many people think of Elftown as a part of Elfwood, but not everyone sees it this way, which can be seen evident in the large amount of people who can be found soliciting members for things other than art trades. While we are glad that Elftown is popular enough to get members on its own and not depend solely on Elfwood, it is a bit of a concern to other members, so Elfpack was introduced. Neary any kind of debauchery is welcome there, and though it has its own rules, it is not as strict as Elftown, allowing some members to find a community more welcoming of their tastes. It is set up exactly like Elftown, with houses and messages and forums, so if it sounds appealing to you, you should check it out.

Also, there is www.cathug.com for all you cat lovers. Again, set up just like Elftown, but devoted to the feline and those of us who love it.

And, for those of you who speak Russian, you may find an interesting niche at www.baltbalt.com .
