The Wonder of Flowers, Part II
By [ irulan ]

As discussed in the previous article, flowers can be a terrific culinary asset. They also possess tremendous healing power – physical and emotional. This time we will take a look at how flower essences can heal us emotionally.

Flowers have been used for healing for centuries; it has been dated back to the aborigines of Australia. Though the Native Americans used flower healing, it was not fully introduced in the West until Dr. Edward Bach popularized the theory of flower essences for healing. He created a series of 38 preparations from wild flowers and plants by transferring their healing vibrations to water through solarization (to affect by exposing to the sun's rays). The practiced rapidly gained popularity with several hundred practitioners following in his wake. Through this method we have found that while repairing emotional/ment al rifts, flower essences also restore the body's natural harmony, therefore aiding the physical body as well.

Flowers, as humans do, have unique blueprints that set them apart from each other. They hold within their blueprint a key to the wisdom, purity, and perfection that was created at the time we took form as physical beings. Each flower has its own therapeutic quality because of its particular blueprint. We just need to choose the appropriate blueprint to suit the disharmony in our energy pattern.

There are several ways one can take flower essences. They typically come in easy to use dropper bottles. You can take them orally by placing a few drops on your tongue or you can add 1-3 drops to your water, juice, or tea and then agitate before drinking. You can add 1-3 drops in your bath, in a spray bottle, or apply the drops directly to your skin. You may wonder how they work. Flower essences bring the life-force energy of wildflowers into your system and are designed to re-program your body to become more vital, healthy, and balanced, to increase your energy so emotions and fears are more easily freed, and to bring a healthier perspective of the past so healing is easier and quicker. You will know when the essences are working. You will most likely open to deeper healing or release feelings of stress, anxiety, or physical problems. You may even feel immediate shifts when taking the essences.  You will have to permit yourself to open and trust in the process of change and growth that flower essences offer. Also, do not confuse flower essences with fragrant essential oils. Flower essences have no fragrance and are usually “carried” in water and preserved with brandy.
