Fun Winter Facts, Mars Fact Sheet, Spring (season), Fall Foliage Facts and Autumn: Seasons in Australia, by Greg Pyers. Published by Heinemann Library.

Evergreen trees have leaves all year round, through all seasons.
Deciduous trees lose their leaves during the Autumn/Fall season.

Changes in day length and temperature are what makes plants do their ‘seasonal' change.

Evergreen trees do not actually stay ‘evergreen'. They do lose their old leaves, usually in Springtime, but they never lose all of their leaves at the same time like deciduous trees.

Deciduous trees lose their leaves because they are not hardy enough to survive the cold of Winter. The tree absorbs the chlorophyll from the leaves and then the wastes of the tree are moved into the leaves.

The change of seasons relates to the Earth spinning around the sun.

Some other planets have seasons too! Mars has seasons, but they only vary from extremely cold to absolutely freezing.

Snow is formed when crystals of ice form around bits of dirt carried into the atmosphere. More and more of these crystals join together to form a snowflake, until it is heavy enough to fall.

A snowflake is made up from 2 to 200 separate crystals.

Snow is transparent!

The shapes of snowflakes are determined by the temperature that they are created at.

Some places have only two seasons. Wet and Dry!
