Been doing some photo manips. Drawn a bit more. It's all at dA.
I uploaded a bunch of really old drawings to dA. One of them isn't so old and looks pretty OK, so I colored it in PS and posted both versions (with and without coloring). I really should draw more pictures. I'm too good at it not to do so. I'm not claiming to be one of the greatest artists or anything like that, but It's still a darn waste.
I think I need to call Anticimex, the pest control company. The bugs are everywhere.
First, my HTML formatting program (which I wrote solely for the purpose of converting the chapters of the Books of Simuir from .doc to .htm before uploading them to Elfwood) decides to leave out the HR tags from chapter 5 and I completely miss that until I see the mess published on my public page (argh). Well, at least it's mostly readable. I suspect this happened because I switched to a newer version of MS Word, but it's still a bug, sort of.
Second, the Elfwood publishing system decides to act up (for the second time mind you - this happened with the first chapter too) and reject my illustrations on its own. This is a known bug but still pretty darn annoying :P
Third, I mess up - I upload the fixed chapter 5 and send a mail to the Elfwood moderators asking why the images were rejected, then later I get a mail that says its a bug, and can I please re-publish the images only and be sure not to upload any HTML files in a new ticket so they can fix the problem? Happy as ever to be of service I do exactly that, completely forgetting that I already uploaded a HTML file... Somebody debug my brain, please?
I created an account at deviantArt (http://hexchil
So I gave that up for the time being. The queue system on elfwood isn't nearly as bad as having your submissions mutilated without even being able to preview them. If I do get it to work on dA, I'll still maintain my elfwood site though. The more the merrier...
My ticket has been "locked" by a moderator (it's being reviewed). Soon the problems in chapter 4 will be fixed.. and of course the brand new chapter 5 will show up. Unless they find something bad in there.
Sigh. It's happened again: I'm too darn tired to do anything, but I'm too darn bored not to do anything. This happens to me all the time, and I never get used to it. To do or not to do.. um.. what was the question again?
My Elfwood ticket is past the middle of the queue. Yay! ...um.
It seems my first graphics contribution to Elftown has become a reality - Lazy Club accepted the banner I made specifically for that wiki. No biggie, but still a nice feeling.
I'm stuck on numbers. Since the guys at The Philosophers' Colosseum brought up the interesting properties of the number Phi and suggested that it might be used in music, I've been obsessively experimenting with Fibonacci series and prime numbers in all sorts of ways. I wrote a program that plays a set of number series using streaming MIDI - you specify note length, note numbers and velocities in a text file... I tell you, these number series can produce some real interesting musical content. (edit 2005-03-04: Generating the text file has proven to be a tedious task because of the huge numbers involved in these calculations.. tratitional floating-point packing generates too much error, so I had to write a text-based number class that stores fractions like 1/3 as exact numbers.. it still refuses to work right, aarrgh! But rest assured, I shall overcome some day.) (edit 2005-03-06: I have managed to get the number class working (or so it seems) but now there's the matter of getting it all optimized - it's too darn slow.)
I should go to sleezzZZZzzzzZ
I wonder who owns the factory where they make writer's blocks. I'm thinking I should write them a big complaint. My new short story, Karmic Revolution, is 80% done and I can't seem to come up with a suitable disaster to end the first half with. 'Tis typical is it not?
At least I uploaded chapter 5 of the Simuir book a few days ago. I just hope the moderators won't find any problems with it.
I tried keeping a diary once when I was about 10. I kept forgetting to write in it.
