Living Room
Alexis led Theo into the living before he gently eased himself onto onto the Sofa. "Sorry about that..I really am..I didn't think the air would be so bad in there." He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Well this is one of the last rooms to go through, what do you think?"
"I really dont care about the room Alexis..." Theo looked at the boy "Can I get you a glass of water or anything? Maybe I should take you to the doctors..."
Alexis shook his head, "No..don't..I can't ask you not to worry cause you will. I'm fine Theo...I just had a coughing fit. I have them whenever I go into a room with really bad air in it. I'm fine now..the air in here is much better.." He managed a smile and patted the place next to him on the couch, "Though..I could use some company over here.."
Theo didn't sit down "No, Im really worried about you, do you need to take any pills or anything?"
Alexis nodded his face workin into a small smile, his eyes softening, "I know Theo...I'm worried about me to. No..when I have a coughing spell I just need to sit down and take five minutes to regulate new air into my body. Just get to a room with clean air, or go outside and breathe. I know what to do..I can't ask you not to worry, cause if I was in your place I'd still worry to. I..just need someone near me ok? I'm tired of being here by myself most of the time..." His eyes stared into the floor as if he could see through it.
"You know I wouldnt have minded if you had of met someone Alexis, I can't believe that you are here alone...I just..." Theo sighed and sat down next to the other boy.
Alexis smiled sadly and kept staring at the floor, "I couldn't meat anyone..I was afraid to..no thats not right. I'm still in love with you..I couldn't meet anyone else. I drempt about you every night, I woke up with your name on my lips..I thought about you before I went to sleep and when I woke up. I couldn't get you out of my mind..but then my parent's sent me here..and I've had nightmares ever since. I love you so much..I don't think you know how much. I couldn't just go find someone else..not only becuase I was still in love with you, but because I'm sick now as well...who would want to date me in this condition?" he asked the last question bitterly, he didn't even bother to wipe the tears that now worked there way down his face.
"Why wont you tell me exactly what is wrong with you? help me to understand Alexis..." Theo put his arm around Alexis.
Alexis sighed wetly and turned and looked Theo in the eyes, the eyes he had dreamed of for son long. "Ok...I'll tell you." He took a shaky breath. "It started after you left, well after my parents forced you to go. Do you remember when I told you the Doctors didn't know what was wrong with me? I lied..I just..was scared to tell you the truth. I was in bed for weeks afterwards, I could barely move like I said, which was true. It turns out the doctors found what was wrong with me pretty quickly. All they had to do was one test. I have a heart condition Theo...a very bad one..there isn't a name for it that I can remember or spell..its a curse. I have to stay home most of the time, I have to stay active while trapped in this beautiful prison. I can't get to exhausted, I can't get too angry, I can't get too stressed. If I do, there is a chance my heart will fail..and I could die..which is why I take those pills..I have more in my bathroom, a diffrent pill for every day of the week." He stopped speaking when he found he could no longer speak. He couldn't he didn't know what else to say.
Theo stayed silent, taking in what Alexis had just said, instead of saying anything he just hugged the boy and kissed his forehead "You dont have to say anymore okay? I'm gonna look after you now..."
Alexis blinked and niestled into the others embrace before pulling away. His eyes were still wet with the tears he had shed earlier but now they were warm but firm, "Theo...listen ok? I may have a heart condition, but please don't start treating me like a delicate flower ok? I still want to do things with my life..I wan't to go sky diving, I wanna travel..I won't be held down by this ok? Please promise me you won't do that..please?"
"Sky diving?" Theo looked a little worried "Travelling yes, sky diving nooooo" He shook his head "Dont do anything that could kill you babe"
Alexis smiled and nodded, "Good, thats what I wanted you to say. I want to live, not be crazy. Which is a good thing your hear. I don't need to go crazy, I just don't want to be tied down by this thing.." He sighed and looked up at the ceiling, "I...just want to live my life as if I didn't have a condition, but I can't so I just have to be careful."
"Promise no sky diving?" Theo poked Alexis' arm as he said this, a small smile creeping across his lips.
Alexis smiled, "No sky diving, I promise." He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on Theo's lips before pulling back with a soft smile. "Your amazing you know that?"
"Well y'know, I have heard" Theo laughed "Hey, lets finish this tour hmm?"
Alexis smiled and nodded, "Ok, the last two places, the Library and then my room. I can't show you my aunts..she's weird like that." He smiled and stood up stretching his arms above his head. "Lets head to the library first ok?" He moved to the door of the living room and motioned for Theo to follow him to
CQ Library.
