Quick Facts

Appearance...
- Barghest appear much like Rottweiler canine in appearance, but unlike them they have a small ominous cloud darker than the night.
- Large teeth and claws allow them to get a deathgrip on a prey item, choking them to death easily.
- Barghest are completely nocturnal, when they are much more powerful predators.
Habitat...
- Adon, Avilion
- They thrive mainly in the outskirts of Midgard, hunting stragglers or wandering drunks.
- Sometimes travellers will move in pairs to avoid becoming prey for the Barghest, but even such measures will not protect wanderers from their bites.
Behavior...
- A Barghest's piercing gaze is described as looking into death itself. However these predators are not undead at all, but rather they are simply taking advantage of intelligent beings need to wander at times.
- Barghest are famed threats on the plains, and only predator widely seen in the open. Most of the larger and more dangerous predators were killed off long ago by the first Fellrise Knights on the plains, leaving the way paved for the Nocturnal Barghest to become top killer.
- The Fellrise are plagued with this nuisance of canine predators, but since they move at night they are difficult to hunt down with Cora or rider. So it seems the black dogs will remain with the Fellrise people for ages, as they are difficult to hunt and far more difficult to keep contained or avoid.
