Quick Facts

Appearance...
- Very slimy and gooey creatures, mostly yellow-orange and spongee appearance.
- As soon as it is touched, a chain reaction starts where the spongee surface releases thousands of sucker cells taht traps whatever graces it. Within seconds, a deadly mucousy acid envelopes the target and can kill within minutes even the largest targets.
- Strangely, there is no recorded maximum size of such creatures, and sometimes reports of monstrous webs that can consume entire armies have been documented by Atlantean scientists and then burned to prevent ecological damage.
Habitat...
- Uncommon, but are native worldwide in very damp regions within rainforests or caves. First discovered in the Centra Archipelago, where they are the most commonly found.
- Never occur anywhere that is flat or dry, because moisture is required to sustain their actions of digestion along with suitable hanging area to grap unwary targets.
- On rare occasions, some larger molds will not digest bone, but instead use them to support cracking branches or as a grappling hook to expand their net area.
Behavior...
- Stationary creatures, sometimes not even considered carnivorous until witnessing the actions they can display.
- Rarely will such monsters be considered a threat, because they ingest moving targets only as they hang from tree limbs or cave walls. So even ecological damage is never considered unless webs get overwhelming thick enough to block out sunlight.
- Mostly a rare encounter, often leaving would be explorers as digested goo within these nets.
