- Causes Target's Speed level to drop by Magic Level 6 per turn until 0. Once 0, target is petrified and becomes size level amount of stone material. Incurable by normal nullifying spells or items. Target must be able to see Cockatrice in order for effect to work.

*Signature Attack... "Mass Petrify" - Uses 1 Stamina, Allows the Cockatrice to use petrify on all targets in a semicircle region in front of the cockatrice.

- Cockatrice Feather: Valued item by nobles, but otherwise a uselessly light object. Has some magical qualities if turned into a charm.

Quick Facts

Appearance...
- Much like a rooster in appearance, but has a very reptilian tail normally signifying that the rooster is a cockatrice.
- Reddish plumage, and rare bold coloration as they are always male.
- Completely black eyes, with a faint ring of blue within them. (Only found through daguerrotypes, not known if it is the true eye coloration.)
Habitat...
- Adon, typically in deep woodland areas.
- Often small, but a trail of statuesque fauna can be traced to a cockatrice in the area.
- Live in undergrowth, hunting small lizards and amphibians, but will use its petrifying stare against any predators that try to attack it.
Behavior...
- Highly aggressive from rooster lineage, but will retreat from the calls of a rooster and the petrification effects seem to be shrugged off by the small avian males.
- A cockatrice crow is likened to the sound of scratching across a chalkboard, and is normally the call of twilight as opposed to the rooster's crow of dawn.
- Seemingly involuntary movement of the tail suggests that the cockatrice has a duality of nature and involuntary balance much like felines.
