Final Fantasy Horizon

Lore.

Gaia consists of four major continents: the Mist Continent, the Outer Continent, the Lost Continent, and the Forgotten Continent. The vast majority of people in Gaia live on the Mist Continent, and very few travel to the other three continents that make up their world, largely because the main mode of transport, airships, run on mist meaning they cannot fly outside of Mist Continent. Zlthough in the last 50 years, new technology has been invented. Allowing the airships to produce and use their own mist.

Greatly resembling a single large island, Spira is composed of one mainland continent with several smaller islands to the east, west and south. Spira consists of many diverse climates: the tropical seaside islands of Besaid and Kilika, the temperate locales in the Mi'ihen Highroad and Mushroom Rock regions, the polar extremes of Macalania and Mt. Gagazet, the deep, mystical forests of Macalania and the arid deserts of Bikanel.

Ivalice is a region consisting of three continents; Ordalia in the west, Valendia in the northeast and Kerwon in the south. However, only the lands bordering the Naldoan Sea are explored. The continents are dominated by an assortment of industrialized city-states; the Archadian Empire and the kingdom of Nabradia both in Valendia, the Rozarrian Empire in Ordalia, and sandwiched between the two continents is the kingdom of Dalmasca. Strategically located between the rival neighboring states of Imperial Archadia and Rozarria, Dalmasca's position as a neutral buffer region between the two countries is eliminated when it is invaded by Imperial Archadia. Now reduced to an occupied territory under Archadian rule, Dalmasca is set to play a central role in the still-heated dispute between its neighbors which is escalating once more.

Machina is the term used for any kind of powered machines in Gaia.1100 years ago, machina were in common use. When war broke out between Bevelle and Zanarkand, Bevelle using mainly machina to fight while Zanarkand depended upon its Summoners, Zanarkand was left devastated. Yu Yevon, the leader of Zanarkand, created Sin in revenge. Yu Yevon's daughter, Yunalesca, agreed to give Bevelle a method to temporarily get rid of Sin in return for her father's undying fame as well as the forbidding of all destructive machina. Machina have come into wider use due to the fall of Yevon as the main political force, although there are still those who are uncomfortable with their use. As a result, newly built machina are branded "Machines" instead. Since the movement of Machina has once again began moving forward, A new technology has been created allowing the communication and transporting between worlds. These devises must both be working for either to happen.
