Eve and Aya = Maya; The Connection

Even though Aya had never met Melissa before the night of the opera, it was clear she didn't feel as though she was a stranger. She felt a connection, a bond with her that she wouldn't be able to understand until later.

No one, with the exclusion of Eve and Klamp knew of the relationship which bonded her and Aya together. It was an important fact but it wasn't something Dr. Klamp felt anybody needed to know, but even if they did, it wouldn't matter because by the time Eve was awakened, it would be too late to stop her.

Eve on the otherhand, made it clear from the time she first met Aya up until the very end that they shared a connection. Even before they met and hadn't even seen eachother they could sense a connection with one another. This is how Aya was drawn to the Opera that day, knowing full well she didn't like Opera that much, she felt there was a reason why she was there. It turns out, she was right, she was there to meet her long lost sister and other half. When the two met, Eve hinted at Aya that she knew her, teased her about not remembering, taunted her by trying to kill her using mutant animals and even herself tried to take her out using energy blasts shooting directly out of her new evolved body but never did she succeed in killing her.

Eve didn't kill Aya and she had oppportunity to do so at any given time. She didn't even weaken her, or bust her leg off with an energy beam. Eve didn't have to tolerate Aya's constant interfering if she didn't want to or have a reason to. She never believed Aya would be capable of destroying her and since there was no great harm, there there was no reason to kill her.

Aya was Eve's only threat, only Eve couldn't register that fact. Eve saw Aya as her other half that would eventually do the right thing and join forces with her. Afterall she was just like her, it would only be a matter of time before she too awakened. Eve showed mercy on Aya so much, it was ridiculous, yet Aya never showed mercy on Eve, which is hilarious. Even after being shot at over and over, still, something kept Eve from killing her sister other than just what was inside of her. In a sense, she would be killing herself if she killed Aya.

Maya Brea's Two Halves; Reunite

When Maya died, her kidney was donated to a then young Melissa Pearce and at the same time her sister, Aya Brea was undergoing surgery of her own. The weird defect in her right cornea (eye) could be now be 'corrected' using the cornea of her dead sister Maya.

Klamp kept Maya alive through Melissa and Maya was kept alive in Aya at the same time, creating a balance. This meant that Maya was now split into two and in two completely separate individuals. A part of her was in Melissa who would later mutate into Eve and a part of her was in Aya, the only person who would be able to stop Eve, thus forming two connections; between Maya/Eve and Maya/Aya.

Dr. Klamp was the man behind making sure the dying Melissa Pearce recieved the deceased Maya's kidney. In doing so, he gave Eve a body to use in her fight to free the mitochondria since Maya's was no longer an option. The only thing Dr. Klamp had worry to about was keeping Melissa alive until the day came when her mitochondria would awaken, to do so would require evil planning on Klamp's part.

Dr. Klamp's best and worst quality was his stupid awesome brain. He was a genius and capable of doing good with his knowledge, but he was so (obviously) deeply troubled and just plain cruel that it just didn't work out that way. He was the perfect man to help the mitochondria and EVE. I don't think any other person would have the mental capacity and cold heart to do such a thing and treat people so horribly along the way.

It is true, if it hadn't been for Klamp, little Melissa would have been dead long before Christmas Eve, 1998. But, the true Melissa still died long before then anyway. Klamp's intentions were never to save her, all he wanted was to use her. Death would have been a better option for Melissa if only Dr. Klamp had bothered to care. He was more concerned about Eve losing the opportunity to liberate the mitochondria than a little girl.

The drugs Melissa referred to in her journal were being administered to her by Dr. Klamp. It was important that she stay on these pills, if she wanted to live long enough to pursue her career, or so she thought.

The immunosuppresant drugs helped her body to continue living in peace with Maya's mutant organ. It was living in peace alright ..to do what it wanted! That kidney had a mind of its own and it later caused her to mutate. The heavy dependency she had to the medication she was on also made her weak enough for the mitochondria to take over when it was ready to, which it did as she performed on stage.

Eve and Aya shared Maya's DNA and some sort of telepathic energy (or something!). Thier mutant mitochondria brought them together in the same location - together in the same place, Aya with Maya's cornea and Melissa with Maya's kidney- both created Maya's were finally reunited and all HELL BROKE LOOSE from that point on.
