Michael Blake: Dances with Wolves review

I've seen the movie and I loved it despite the fact that it is quite long piece.
So when I found the original book, I thought it would be as good.
And it is.

Lieutenant John Dunbar gets assigned to a post practically in the middle of nowhere during the time of civil war in United States. He's warned of the Native Americans but he's always wanted to go to the frontier.
As he arrives to the fort he discovers that there's no one left, the place is a mess and only company he has besides his trusted horse, is a very curious wolf.

Later on Dunbar gets his first contact with the Natives and his life is never the same.

As the movie, this book is a paean to the nature and love of it. As Dunbar meets the Natives, the Komanshes (I'm not sure how it's written), he learns much of the world and himself as the two different worlds collide.

If you loved the movie, you'll love the book.

2010-05-08 [Caterin S.]: Okey, thanks. :) I wasn't sure how it's written in English, as I read the book in Finnish and the writing form may differ quite much because of some letters we don't use. :)
It was a great book and no, I didn't know about the sequel. I quess I have to track it down from the library. :)
