Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind
Review by [Erestor]
This game is a classic. It has been out for around 3 years and has picked up a lot of awards such as game and RPG of the year from several different gaming magazines. I myself have only had it for a year but have played it non-stop due to everything on the game being so good. This is a successor of two former, not very well known, role-play games by the same company. The game is sadly only available for Xbox and computer. This game is a 1 player game and is rated 12+. This game has two versions. There is a normal version which has the basic game; however, if you want a lot of detail as well as more missions and game play hours than the extended game of the year edition. This also offers a lot more different styles of armour and weapons.
On first impressions it is good to see amazing details as well as great choices of custom characters. The character you build is so detailed, and it is extremely unlikely that you will ever see anyone with the same character. The options are amazing; especially when you consider that you can make your own custom class to ensure your character is individual and personal.
Each fantasy race, everything from an elf to a cat-like creature, has its own stats and voice unique to that race. The amount of races available is also extremely good. In all there are 10, all with different styles which are great if you want a character with a specific feat or skill. For all you weapons and armour lovers out there this game would be perfect. There are so many different styles with their own advantages and disadvantages to suit your character. This is also one of my personal favourite parts of the game.
The computer version of this game is amazing due to the amount of detail added in, including a self modifying kit. This allows you to make your own custom towns and other amazing features making the game even more customized and detailed. The only fault in the computer version is the handling of the characters. This is unless you have fast fingers and are good at repetitively tapping the same button. I myself preferred the Xbox version.
This game is very good as you feel so indulged in the game and feel like you are your actual character. The game play is amazing and you can change the view from third person to first person. This is good as you can change it when travelling around to third person to view all the extremely detailed countryside and scenery, and you can also change it to first person which gives you a lot of accuracy when fighting your opponent. Another bit that I thought was good was the very individual story line; it was amazing. It has its own despicable enemy that you love to hate.
Overall I thought this was an exciting and a very good buy game and even though it has been around for a while it is still a good purchase and a definite one to buy especially if you are a game-freak or an adamant role-player. With the sheer detail of this game it still lives up to more recent games attempting the same style. This game is still going strong and is one of them games you could play on for hours and still not get bored. Some of my fellow Elftowners think the same way as me on this and they are in the
Morrowind community. And we can all not wait for the next game in the elder scrolls series named Oblivion and is set to be released at the same time as the new Xbox 2.
