The Battle Zone
"What is wrong?!" Tonani trampled down the stairs behind Bella. "What were you going to say?"
Bella grumbled "Nothing. Im leaving like you told me to!" she kept walking down the stairs and when she got to the bottom she headed for the door.
Tonani sighed. He walked directly behind her. "Tell me what you were going to say. Please. Don't leave yet. You can stay as long as you don't threaten me again." He said in a sincere tone.
Bella smiled for a moment and then shook her head. "n-no i-i cant. living with a human would be to weird for the both of us. And what i was going to say.." Her voice had a sad tone to it. "What i was going to say doesnt matter anyway."
Tonani looked at her curiously. "Well obviously it matters if you were thinking it." He smiled intimidatingly
. "What a vampire says to a human, typically matters."
Bella didnt know what to do. "..I should go...Thank you for your offer but, im a vampire and you should be scared of me. You dont know i could attack you in your sleep if i stayed here. I must go now. It was nice of you to let me stay here for a bit."
"I'm not afraid of any vampires." Tonani informed. "Tell me what you wanted to say." He nearly demanded.
Bella swiftly turned around and looked him straight in the eyes. "Its. Not. Important. Im. Leaving. Now!" She stood there staring at him, hoping he would give in.
Tonani smirked. "I can tell you do not want to leave." He pointed out. "If you wanted to than you would have by now. You could simply use that flash step that you posses and be gone before I even took a breath."
Bella blinked "Well you keep talking to me. I...Its inpolite to walk away when someone is talking to you."
Tonani laughed. "You're a vampire. You shouldn't care about manners."
Bella growled at him "I was a human before i was a vampire." She looked away from him and down at the ground. "This wasnt my choice..."
Tonani was shocked. "Oh so you wern't born? Hmmmm so tell me your story. Who changed you? Maybe I know them."
"It...its none of your..." Bella sighed "Its was my boyfriend. I thought he was human, and then he changed me. I killed him the next day, for he had broken my sister and i up. Now, my best friend, my only family left, i cant go near. Im scared I will hurt her. And thats why we cant be together." Bella's eyes widened. "I mean...be together as in live in the same house together!" She sighed and smiled to herself. nice save
Tonani's eyes widened at how she talked of her changing. She spoke as if there was nearly nothing wrong with it and that life would work out just fine. "Do you really think that?"
"IM living it right now. And its not a dream. I already tried waking up. Every night i wake up and i have to deal with who i am. Its been years and im still not a peace with myself. I know that humans and vampires could never work out." Bella stated softly, almost as if she was wishpering.
"Than what about Damion and your dear Celina?" Tonani questioned moving closer to her. "Last I checked, he was a leader of a vast clan of vampires, and she is the head of a vast vampire hunter society? He will not bite her let alone let her be hurt." He informed. "And by the way it looked, they were hitting it off quite well."
Bella backed up against a wall by an accident, when he stepped closer to her, and looked at Tonani. "She has a cure. We arent ment to be. i mean humans and vampire of course!"
Tonani laughed catching on to what Bella was implying but trying to hide. "Ahhh. But it is so much more than that." He stepped closer to her again. "She may have a cure but he has control." He stated. "By what has played off right now, I see you do too. If you didn't, you would have attacked by now." He said getting close enough to touch her. "Vampires and humans can live together coinciding if that vampire has control and that human isn't too awfully clumsy."
Bella's breathing picked up. "Ju...ba...please...back up alittle." She moved twards the door slowly, while still against the wall.
Tonani stayed where he was. "Are you scared? Do you fear me because I am right?"
Bella's eyes widened. She looked over at the door and reached for it ignoring him. She knew he was right. She just didnt want to hear it. She really did like this man, but she knew that it wouldnt work. It would be to hard for her, or maybe to hard for him. She moved along the wall some more getting closer to the door and starting to slowly pull away from Tonani.
Tonani took a step back to give Bella room. "You won't answer me now?"
Bella looked down. "...yo...you...your right..." She could feel her cold heart breaking slowly. She really did like him, but she knew they could never be together. "...I really should go now..." Her voice began to crack. She kept looking down at the ground.
Tonani sighed. "My father was a vampire." He said. Nearly on cue for something. "I was so angry that I was born human that I killed both my father and mother." He said with little detail. He was hoping she would understand. "I do not fear your kind....ever. In fact, I feel more comfortable around vampires than I do humans."
Bellas eyes widened. She didnt know what to do now or even say to him. she just kept looking at the ground, hoping the answer would be down there. do i stay? Do i go? What do I do!?
"Do you still feel the need to walk out that door?" Tonani questioned. "But keep in mind that I do know where the castle is and Damion would be more than happy to help me find you. There is no way to escape me."
Bella looked up at him. "WHy do you want me to stay so badly? WHy do you want me near you?"
"Because you still havn't told me what you were doing with my picture in my room and why you followed me here at all?" Tonani retorted.
"I was just looking at the picutre." Bella tried to think of a reason why she followed him, with out telling the truth. "Cuz i wanted to see your house?"
"Oh?" Tonani wasn't convinced. "So you followed a random human just because you wanted to see his house and than fall asleep on his bed while staring at his most prized possestion." He rephrased what she had stated.
"I..I didnt know it was your prized possestion.." Bella stated softly.
Tonani sighed softly as if that was a stupid statement. "Well it IS the only picture in the house."
Bella sighed "I..." She just couldnt get herself to say that she liked him. She knew it was weird to like a human, espically one she had just met, but something about him attracted her to him. She looked up at him then away "...i..."
Tonani gave her a questioning look. "You what?"
"Nothing. I just cant tell you why i followed you here. And im sorry i guess.." Bella stated softly.
Tonani sighed. "Apologizing for what?"
"For this..." Bella gently grabbed Tonani bring him close to her and kissed him deeply.
Tonani flinched at the sudden movement and the, what seemed to be random, kiss.
Bella pulled away and looked away "Like i said...Sorry"
Tonani shook his head. "No need to apologize."
For a vampire, Bella turned deep red. She quickly looked away and sighed. "I...I should go now..."
Tonani took a step back from Bella and walked to the front door. He opened it slowly. "If you so please." He was speaking ancient slang now. He sounded almost like a vampire. If it weren't for his blood he would be mistaken for an actual century old blood sucker.
"I dont please so. I have to. Your a human. You may be half and half, but your not full...what if i attacked you?"
"You do not have to." Tonani told her again. "But if you wish, you may. You are welcome back if you want. Just don't sneak in next time."
"I will stay. BUt...." Bella sighed softly. "Do you have a spare room?" ...but if i stay...ill just want to kiss you more and be with you more... She smiled a little at the thought of kissing him again.
Tonani nodded. "There is a spare room down the hall from mine. Come. I'll show you." He closed the front door again and begun to walk up the stairs.
Bella smiled. She pulled her hair to one side of her neck playing with her hair as she walked up the stairs. The side of her neck that was showing, was the side were she was bitten. You could see the bite marks, but also deep scratches around the bite.
Tonani lead her threw the second floor hallway and stopped at the closed white door. "Here it is." He opened the door revealing a small room with a simple small bed with an average white pillow and blue sheets. "I hope this is dueable."
Bella fixed her hair, so her neck was covered. She walked in slowly and looked around. "Wow." She laughed a little. "this is much better than sleeping on the streets. I mean, Its cleaner and smells better."
"The streets? You mean you never stayed at the castle like many of the others did?" Tonani was immediately concerned.
Bella shook her head as she looked around the room. She sat on the bed and smiled looking at him. "No. Never. The day i was turned, was the day i started living on the streets, years ago. But i dont drink human blood or animal blood. I drink my own blood." She smiled more. "Which means i dont have to chase down my food." She laughed a little and smiled at him still.
Tonani gave Bella a strange look for a mere second and than became curious again. "Is there a reason you never stayed at the castle. I'm sure Damion would have no problem with a newborn needing a place to stay."
"To be honest with you. I never heard of this 'Castle.'" Bella lated down on the bed. "I never interacted with other vampires. Your the only human i have talked to in years." She laughed a little. "Come to think of it, your the only person i have talked to in years."
Tonani blinked. "We should go speak to Damion. Come on. I think I know where he may be." He said and walked out of the room.
Bella chased after him. "BUt why? I dont want to be anywhere else but here!" She gently grabbed his arm "Please dont abondon me too. PLease."
Tonani jumped at her touch. His body was naturally hot but was steaming against her ice cold skin. Her skin felt like the cold would kill him. He took a deep breath. "That wasn't my plan. Damion just needs to know of you. And plus....don't you want to make sure your sister is alright?"
Bella noticed how he reacted when she touched him, and she backed away from him. "You can. I...I think Ill stay here...Or i might go out"
Tonani shook his head. He grabbed her arm. "Come on. Let's go."
Bella tried to pull away. She pulled back to much, lifting her sleeve showing all these deep bite marks on it. "I said no! Tonani please. He doesnt have to know about me. PLease..."
Tonani let go and looked at the marks. "Are you alright?"
Bella hid her arm and quickly hid her neck. "Yeah fine! Why do you ask?!" She backed away a little.
Tonani sighed. "There is no sense hiding anything."
"IM not hiding anything!" bella growled at him. "Look we dont have to go check in with your friend. Its not like he is the lead vampire!"
Tonani started laughing so hard that he fell to the ground.
Bell blinked "Humans are weird..." She looked at him "What are you laughing at?"
Tonani realized she wasn't joking. He looked at her with squinted eyes an burrowed eyebrows. He stood up and brushed himself off. "You mean to tell me you don't even know who your leader is?" He was astonished.
"I dont have a leader." Bella rolled her eyes. "Shows how well you listen to me." She walked back into the room he had for her, and sat on her bed combing her hair with her nails.
Damion rose from his seat than and skimed through his selection. He found the book he was looking for and plucked it from its spot. He turned back to Celina and handed it to her. "You should read this one." He handed her a story called Midnight Predator by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. He smiled delicately when he knew how this would turn out.
Celina couldn't help but laugh and looked up at him slyly. "Is there supposed to be some kind of hidden message...?" she grinned. "Cause if there is, its not going to work."
"And why would you think that?" Damion smirked slyly as well.
Celina placed the book on her lap and pointed out the title. "That's an obvious sign... and I have read this book." she chuckled. "My mother made me read it when I was young."
Damion smirked. "Ah." He looked at the small book and than back to her delicate face. "Well than beauty." He placed a hand under her chin forcing her to look into his eyes. "Jaguar was inspired by me. Amelia became fascinated by me." He smiled down at her. "You remind me so much of Catherine. Or as her basic name was, Turquoise." He smiled looking deep into her eyes. He had the expression that was described in the novel as Jaguar's basic expression when he looked at his favorite female slave. There was a hint of something more than trust and knowing.
Celina smirked. "What, because I'm not afraid of you...?" she said. Her eyes smirked along with her eyes. Her body showed she was completely relaxed, and it seemed that her gaurd was down again.
Damion smiled. "Not entirely. It's because you fear more of this..." He leaned down with his hand already under chin and kissed her lightly on the lips but still had a bit of roughness in it. "...rather than what I truly am." He said pulling his head back a little so he could look into her eyes and her into his. He was still close enough that all she had to do was lean forward an inch and their lips would fit perfectly together.
Celina blushed brightly but that is all that really changed in her facial expression. ".. who said I fear it..?" she questioned. "Are you sure you're not talking about yourself...?"
Damion licked his protruding fangs. "Myself? Really? You think so?" He released her face and stepped back. He turned his back to her and closed his eyes with his head down. He took another unneeded breath and than in an instant he was on top of her with his legs on each side of her. "So you are saying you do not fear this? You don't fear what this will lead to?"
Celina's heart jumped in surprise, and something else she didn't recognise. She blushed, but she again smirked. "I do not fear it." she said. "Nor do I fear you." she said. She knew she was tempting fate, but she leaned up and kissed him just as he had kissed her.
Damion wasn't affected by the surprise. In fact he had encouraged it and even hoped for it. He kissed her back passionately and twinned his fingers in her hair.
Celina slowly wrapped her arms around his neck as she kissed him. She was slightly surprised that he was kissing her back and didn't jump away, but her mind dismissed it and just melted completely.
Damion kissed her intimately. His fangs were extended with the lust for her blood but he ignored it for the moment of what was now becoming of them.
Celina could feel his fangs, but she too ignored them as she savored the moment. But though she ignored them, she was aware of them.
Damion clapsed her bottom lip in between his lips and sucked gently. His fang scraped it and sliced it slightly. He tasted the blood and sucked it a little until he realized and he clentched and pulled himself away quickly. He touched his lip which had a remnant of her blood on it and looked at her with a nearly scared expression.
Celina looked up at him and smiled. "It's okay." she said. "At least you have control." she said. It was the truth. Last time a vampire had tasted her blood, they couldn't even manage to pull away. Then, of course, Celina had to kill them and use a potion on herself to make sure she didn't turn.
Damion sighed and sat down on the floor on the other side of the room, exhausted from his effort of refusing. "It hurts to refuse. Especially hunters blood. It's rare, and somehow pure. It's the most delicate and delicious blood. Vampires will die to even just taste it."
Celina nodded. "Believe me, I know. I've had my fair share of bites." she smiled softly. She wished she could go over to him and pull him into her arms and hold him close, but she knew that would only make his situation worse and harder for him to control.
Celina's blood lingured on Damion's lip. He closed his eyes listening to her speak but did not move. He was stiff, as if a statue.
"Are you going to be alright...?" Celina asked softly.
Damion tried to avoid taking a breath or opening his eyes. "Just talk to me. Tell me anything. Tell me about yourself." He asked in a demand.
"Well, I think you were trying to find my weakness... though you should already know with the trick you pulled with me with Orochiba... I have a weakspot for animals." she chuckled lightly. "Uh... you know my sister is Bella... I wonder how she's doing... it seems she was hitting it off pretty well with Tonani..." she grinned. "Hmm... I like... strawberries?"
Damion laughed at the last statement. He opened his eyes to look at her and they seemed delighted now. "And what do strawberries have to do with your weakness, your sister, and my friend?" He laughed.
Celina laughed nervously. "Well, I was just making small talk." she smiled. "Are you feeling better?"
Damion nodded. He slowly stood up, regaining his energy. "Yes. Thank you." He took a deep breath steadying himself on his feet. "Are you sure Bella will not hurt Tonani?"
Celina nodded. "She shouldn't... I don't think she would." Celina shrugged. "I haven't really talked to her since she turned. I tried to warn her about her boyfriend, but she refused to listen..."
Damion sighed. "Humans can be quite stupid sometimes." After he said it he caught himself and laughed. "Innocent humans that is. Ones that believe that vampires are nothing but a myth. Believe it or not, some people are like that even with times like these where are war is slowly brewing." He explained. "Tonani begged me years ago that he wanted to become one of me. He wanted to be turned. He groveled at my feet for years until I taught him the difficulties. He stood there, as a child, as I fed. He became mortified and merely helped me. I guess you could call him my willing human slave. He hasn't yet realized that he is indeed more than human." He slyly smirked.
Celina looked at him. "More than human..?" she quesioned.
"He has vampire abilities and he has yet to find them." Damion frowned. "If he were to be bitten, he wouldn't change. His wounds heal unnaturally fast for a human. He is always so casual around my kind." He explained looking at the ground.
Celina blinked and nodded. "I see... that is unusual..." she said. She stood up and stretched slightly.
Damion stepped closer to Celina. He licked his lips and smiled at the dried blood that was still on his own lips. "Quite delicious."
Celina looked at him. "What does it taste like... strawberries maybe?" she grinned.
Damion laughed. "Actually, it's quite cherry like." He walked over to Celina and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Wana taste?" He winked at her.
Celina laughed lightly. "It tastes metally to me..." she shrugged. "I don't mind it though..."
Damion smirked. "What's because blood consistes of iron. It will taste 'metally'. But us vampires," he said and leaned down to licked her neck. "find it to taste absolutely delicious."
Celina blushed. "I can tell." she chuckled. She got the feeling that he would never hurt her, and that made her smile.
Damion chuckled breathing against her now moist neck. "Even the skin above that delicate pulse tastes delicious." His fangs were ready to peirce and his eyes were fixated on the vein below the skin.
Celina looked at him. "Be careful..." she warned.
Damion breathed out heavily in defeat and back up from her neck now looking her in the eyes. "My apologies."
Orochiba wandered in and looked up at Damion and Celina while he sat in the center of the room.
Celina smiled softly. "It's alright. I can only imagine how hard it is for you." she said.
Damion smiled in retuned. "Oh believe me. I have full control now. I have tasted your blood and now I know what to repel against." He smiled whole-heartedly. "You are entirely safe here. If anything, this is now the safest place to be."
Celina smirked and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Then you won't mind if I do this..." she said, leaning up and pressing her lips gently against his.
Damion tensed but soon relaxed into the kiss when his control was regained.
Celina could taste the dried blood on his lips, her blood no less. She felt him stiffen up, but then smiled to herself when he relaxed.
Damion wrapped his arms tightly around her waist and lifted her up off her feet. He carried her to the couch and layed her down just now breaking the kiss. He was obviously getting anxious. He slowly nearly crawled on top of her. "Is this what you want?" His body was between her legs.
Celina blushed brightly. She wasn't sure what to think, let alone say. She had just met the guy, and her mind was confused, but her body kept saying for her to go for it.
Damion pushed his hips against hers quick and than stopped with a sly devilish smile on his face.
Celina blushed even brighter as her body shivered lightly. "Damion... I... I keep thinking about how we just met... but my heart doesn't give a fuck... I'm so confised..."
Damion pulled himself up and off of her. He stood beside the couch. "Right answer." He laughed.
Celina sighed. "I do listen to my head y'know... and I do have morals." she smiled.
Orochiba howled when she finished speaking. He ran to the window and looked out.
Damion looked at Orochiba questionably. "What's wrong boy." He looked back to Celina. "Excuse me." He walked to the window. "Ahhhhh. It seems to be a full moon tonight."
Celina walked over and looked out the window. "It's beautiful..." she smiled.
"It always is." Damion said.
Orochiba howled again.
"Alright boy." Damion walked to the door opening it so Orochiba could go out who indeed ran as fast as he could out the door and out of sight.
Celina smiled softly and watched him leave.
Damion walked back to the couch and set delicately. He picked up the wine glass he had placed down earlier and took a sip.
Celina walked over and sat down next to him and grinned.
Damion looked over at Celina. "What?" He asked about her grinning.
"I was just wondering... how did you and Orochiba become friends...? Usually animals are petrified of vampires..." Celina asked.
"He was abandoned as a pup. I was originally going to feed on him. He just looked to innocent to even harm. I raised him. He became loyal to me." Damion informed. "We have been together for many years." He looked at her with his ancient eyes.
Celina smiled. "That's awesome. He seems to be really happy, and so do you."
Damion smiled and nodded. "Thank you."
Celina noddeed and leaned back against the couch, closing her eyes and sighing softly.
Damion looked at her curiously. "What's wrong? Something on your mind?"
Celina shook her head. "No... I'm just relaxing..." she smiled softly.
Damion smiled faintly and stood up. He took advantage of her unprotected mind. Follow me. He told her. He had already begun walking through the vast rooms in his small home which from the inside seemed almost like a mansion. He went to a room with double doors protecting it. He opened the black doors with the golden handle revealing a large studio like room with only a red grand piano in the center. He stood in the doorway smiling in at the piano.
Celina blinked and got up and followed after him. She smiled when she saw the piano. "Wow... I haven't seen one of those since I was a child..."
"Do you play?" Damion asked curiously as he walked into the room. There was a black padding around the room and a black carpet. The ceiling was painted red to match the piano.
Celina nodded and followed. "Actually, yes. Surprisingly so."
Damion turned and smiled at her. "Good." He walked to the luxurious piano and sat elegantly on the seat. "Come. Sit beside me. Play with me." He started playing a few notes of Clair de Lune.
Celina walked over and sat down next to him and started to play along with him. She closed her eyes and let the music flow through her head.
Damion watched his hands as he played and he looked almost euphoric and calm as he played.
Celina smiled to herself and looked over at him.
Damion looked up and at Celina. When he caught her eyes he stopped playing.
Celina chuckled. "Sorry... couldn't help but notice how peaceful you looked."
Damion smiled faintly. "Yes. Well that's what a piano will do to me."
Celina smirked. "I'll keep that in mind." she winked.
Damion chuckled. He looked back down at his grand piano and stroaked it almost lovingly. "This is my baby. It has been with me nearly as long as Orochiba has."
Celina looked to the piano and lightly ran her fingers over the keys. "It's beautiful."
Damion nodded. "Yes. She is." He released a breath he had been holding.
Celina smiled softly. "There you go again..."
Damion looked up to Celina with a raised eyebrow. "Hm?"
"Breathing when you need not to." Celina grinned. "You do it a lot... makes you seem human, almost..." she smiled and put her hand over his. "If it weren't for the extreme cold of your skin... I would think you were."
Damion chuckled when she had told him what he did. "I don't even realize that I do it." He stated. "I did it to fit in the human world. I was always around my brother and Tonani. I had to appear human for them. I tried so hard to maintain it that it just never died. I was born without the need to breath so I had to teach myself for my family and those around me."
Celina smiled and nodded. "It's a good thing to know."
Damion nodded as well. He rose from his seat and looked down at Celina.
Celina looked up at him and got up, grinning.
"What would you like to do now?" Damion asked.
Celina shrugged slightly. "Not sure..." she smiled.
Damion looked around contimplating something to do.
Celina stretched out slightly. "Nnn... I hope Orochiba is okay..."
Damion nodded. "He's fine. I'll know if something goes wrong. No need to worry about that."
Celina smiled softly and nodded. "Okay."
Damion sat back down at the piano and started playing a soft sounding lulliby.
Celina closed her eyes and listened, her shoulders relaxed and her face holding a peaceful expression.
Damion continued playing as he glanced up to Celina and watched her scerene expression. He was playing the only song he knew without watching his own fingers.
Celina felt him looking up at her and looked down, and smiled softly.]
Damion smiled at her. He took a deep breath, looked at his hands and the keys, and added a beautiful twist in the tune.
Celina looked down at the keyboard and laughed lightly.
Damion looked up at her laughing lightly as well. "Did you like that?" He was back to his original tune now.
Celina nodded. "Yeah, I really did."
Damion nodded. "Thank you very much. I created this little tune many a years ago." He moved his fingers to the lower toned keys creating a deeper, lullaby sound.
"It's beautiful." Celina smiled gently.
"Thank you." Damion spoke softly finishing the tune. He rose from his position and looked at Celina. "What would you like to do now?"
Celina shrugged slightly and smiled. "Wanna go take a walk outside? It is beautiful out..."
Damion nodded. "Sounds wonderful." He looked at her carefully then. "Are you sure you wish to go out at this hour? My clan is out. I'm not sure you want to risk your self that way."
"Don't worry, I'm prepared if they try to attack me." she winked.
Damion chuckled. "Alright than. They shouldn't come near if they see I am with you." He smiled. "They are mine afterall." He started to walk out of the elegant piano room.
Celina smiled and stood up, following after him. "And I can make sure no hunters come after you." she chuckled.
Damion nodded. "Thank you." He turned and smiled at her before disappearing and reappearing at the front door of the house.
Celina walked calmly and caught up to him, smiling.
Damion opened the door for Celina. "After you."
Celina smiled and kissed his cheek with a smirk before walking out ahead of him.
Damion stiffened at the warm brush of her lips on his skin. He relaxed when she went a short way ahead of him and continued walking after her like nothing had happened.
Celina chuckled. "Are you intimidated?" she asked, for the way he reacted to such a small act. She knew she was flirting with someone who could kill her, but she didn't really care.
Damion smirked. "No. Not intimidated....just suprised." He said and walked up beside Celina. "Never intimidated." He grinned.
Celina looked back and smiled. "Good, I was thinking you lost your swagger for a moment."
Damion laughed. "Not at all." He looked out in the distance and saw Orochiba slowly walking back with a slight limp. He squinted his eyes to get a better look and was soon gone and beside Orochiba nearly a mile away.
Celina blinked, then started running towards them. For a human, she was really fast. "Is everything okay??"
Damion was holding Orochiba's leg in his hands. He looked up at Celina and nodded. "Yes. He is alright now. It's a good thing we found him when we did. Any longer and it would have been permanent. He will still have a small limp but no actually damage."
Orochiba wimpered and nudged at Damion.
"You saw him....with a vampire?" Damion was looking back at Orochiba now with an intense look. He looked back at Celina. "We have to hurry. Get on my back." He ordered Celina with a hurried look.
Celina blinked, but nodded. "Okay then..." she said and did as she was told, wrapping her arms gently around his neck, but not enough to choke him.
Damion nodded and looked at Orochiba and nodded at him. Suddenly he took moving faster than a human could see. He stopped again when they were in the woods near a place. He took a deep breath and stroked Celina's, to him, scolding hot hand. "Are you alright?" He asked.
Celina was a bit surprised, but she smiled. "Yeah, I'm fine." she chuckled lightly.
Damion nodded. "Alright." He sniffed and saw Tonani standing near Bella. "It's that one. The free blood. What is he doing with a free blood?" He murmured to himself.
Celina looked up. "Free blood?" She saw Bella and twitched.
Damion nodded. "Free blood is a vampire that has no leader. Therefore they live free with no rules and no security." He held her more secure when he felt her twitch. "You know her don't you?"
Celina nodded. "She was my sister..."
Damion's head turned quickly to look at Celina but kept the other two in his sight. "Was?" He sighed and started walking towards Tonani and Bella.
Celina sighed and followed him. "I don't consider her as such anymore... I warned her of what would happen, and she betrayed me... and now she is a vampire..." she said softly.
Damion frowned. "I am sorry." He said in his ancient voice. He was now looking out for only his dear friend. He knew this vampire hunter could fend for herself but this vampire could hurt Tonani. He snuck up close. (Post below)
Tonani shook his head in disapproval. He walked back into the room. "All vampires have a leader. You are in Damion's territory, and most likely born from one of Damion's therefore you are one of Damion's fledglings. Deal with it. Now please, come with me. I have to talk to Damion about something anyhow and I am not leaving you here." Tonani tried speaking calmly.
Bella looked up at him, and shook her head a little. "Im not going with you. I can either stay here or go back on the streets. BUt im not going with you. I dont have a leader. Im not like every other vampire out there. I dont need a leader telling me what to do and acting like a father to me!"
Tonani growled getting infuriated with her attitude. "Damion is not like that. He will not ORDER anyone to do anything. He is the leader because he looks after his clan. He protects them. He doesn't care how you live as long as you are safe from the harm of hunters or other vampire clans." Tonani explained in the calmest voice he could possible manage at the moment which was actually quite vicious.
Bella got up and roughly pushed by him. She left the room and headed down the stairs twards the front door. She stood at the front door, and put her hood on, and making sure she had everything. She opened the door slowly and looked outside at the nice beautiful night, with a big full moon.
Tonani smiled and followed behind her. "That's more like it." He grabbed his jacket throwing it on and shielding his head and face from others out and about.
Bella rolled her eyes and walked faster, trying to lose Tonani. She smiled a small smiled lookin up at the moon. She coughed a couple of times and spat something on the ground. She looked back up at the sky and sighed.
Tonani ran after Bella. "Are you alright?" He asked her urgently.
Bella closed her eyes and nodded her head. She opened them and lifted her wrist to her mouth and bit into it, drinking her blood again, as she walked slower next to Tonani.
Tonani looked at her and than looked away fearful for Bella.
After a short time, Bella pulled her wrist away from her mouth and sighed softly. "Where are you going Tonani?" She stopped and stared at him.
Tonani looked back at her. "Hm?" He thought about what she said. "Oh. I'm hoping to find Dam-" He broke off mid-sentance and stared off in the distance. "Ah. It's Orochiba. What is he doing wandering about out here?"
Bella knew that if Orochiba was out then damion was out with him or looking for him. She looked at Tonani. "I think ill just head back to your house and try to sleep." She turned around and started to head back to Tonani's house.
Tonani grabbed Bella's arm and spun her around so she was again walking along side him. "Do you fear Damion?" He was now walking towards Orochiba.
Bella stopped walking. "I told you that i did not want to meet him. I do not fear him at all. Now I will be going back to the house now ill see you when you get home!"
Tonani sighed. "I don't know why you don't want to meet him." He said in calm tone.
Bella had her back to him. "I never go near vampires not after what happened to me. I never will go near one again."
Tonani frowned. "Well you should be so intimidated. Damion is nothing to fear nor be intimidated by. He means no harm, only help. He is too good to his kind and all others." He said as a general fact trying to comfort Bella. "I don't know what happened to you, and I honostly don't think I want to know but if it is something you need help with, Damion is the one to help you. He may come off as an asshole or cold but he really is genuine."
Bella shot a look at him. "No. Thank. You. Can i just head back to the house and try and sleep please?" She knew and understood what tonani was telling her, but inside, she couldnt force herself to follow him, and meet Damion. She sighed softly and began to head back to Tonani's house slowly looking down at the ground this time and not the night sky.
Tonani was now upset. "So you don't want to see your sister. You don't want to be sure of her safety? He may be cautious but he is a vampire. And his intention was to feed off of her."
Bella stopped walking. "You know nothing about my sister and i. I told you, I cant go and see him. I cant. And i wont. WHy can you understand this!"
Tonani frowned and looked away from Bella for a second and saw Damion. He didn't want to alert Bella so he turned his eyes back to her and looked at her as if nothing was near them. "I'm sorry." He tried apologizing.
"I just want to go back to your place and for once in my life that i have been a vampire, try to sleep. PLease?" Bella stated, souding extremly exhaughsted.
Tonani nodded. "Alright." He noted that the others were now slowly and silently approaching.
Bella headed back to Tonani's house, while playing with her hair. She looked up at the moon and sighed softly, as she continued to walk.
Damion got close enough to Bella without her knowing to tackle her down pinning her to the ground. "Do not fight with me, free blood." He said in a stern serious leaderly voice.
Tonani stepped back giving the vampires room to fight. He saw the vampire hunter and his eyes widened. He saw Orochiba was comfortable around her and Damion had been with her so she should be alright but he knew she was no vampire. He watched Celina careful while keeping an eye on the vampires.
Bella growled and tried to get him off of her. "Get off of me you bastard!" She Kept sruggling from underneath him. "I swear I will rip you apart for this!"
Celina snorted. "Good luck with that Bella..." she said more to herself, scratching Orochiba behind the ears. There was no need for her to get involved just yet. She knew, however, that if Bella hurt Damion, Celina would probably lose her temper on her formal sister.
"What are your intentions with him?" Damion ordered from Bella, the free blood vampire.
Tonani stepped back a little further seeing the fight that was sure to come.
Bella growled and bent her leg enough to kick him. "With who you idiot!! Tonani? Nothing. Why would I do anything to him!!" She turned her head and bit deep into his arm, and the pulled her head away ripping off his skin.
Damion roared. He flinched and pulled his arm away for a split second and than slammed it back down on top of her. "I have no fear to kill you, free blood. I am stronger than you will ever be!" He forced his uninjured arm off her wrist and wrapped his hand around her throat. "Do not fight me and you will be unharmed!"
Bella growled. "Get off of me!" She tried to get up but gave up, as her stomach growled. She sighed and bit into her arm and began to drink her own blood. She stopped after awhile and tried to get Damion off of her. "Im not going to harm your human friend. So let me go damnit!"
Damion saw Bella's method of feeding. He released her arm and removed his hand from her throat. "Follow me, free blood."
Bella growled and stood up. "Stop calling me that. My name is Bella. Learn it damn it. And im not going to follow you anywhere. The only place im going is back to Tonani's." She growled and walked away from him, her arm healing, but very, very slowly. hes the only one nice enough to give me a place to live, and doesnt judge me or try to control me.
Tonani stepped in Bella's way. "You should follow him."
Damion sighed and looked at Celina. He sighed again. "Fre-Bella, please. Come with me. I promise not to harm you or control you. I have something I must show you."
Bella looked at Damion then at TOnani, and then back a damion. "Why should i. I have no need to talk to you or see anything." She looked back at Tonani. "PLease let me pass..."
Tonani shook his head. "Bella, It is something you need to see. It does pertain to you. I would have shown you it, but I have no right. It is all him." He pointed to the high ranked vampire.
"Also, I believe your sister, Celina, here has quite a bit to do with it as well." Damion added and looked from Bella to Celina.
Celina was pulled out of her thoughts with what he said. "Wait, what the hell do I have to do with what??"
Bella growled "do not involved her in this!! Ill go with you."
Tonani approached Celina. "Don't worry."
Damion nodded. He grabbed Bella's arm and threw her over his back. He ran faster than the wind could blow carrying Bella along on his own back.
"What the..."Bella gripped him tightly as she rested her head on his back and closed her eyes, trying to get some rest.
Damion stopped at a large ditch. He let Bella down onto her feet and approached the ditch which was filled with bodies. "This will be burned soon." He informed Bella.
Bella backed away "I dont understand. Why did you bring me here?" She looked around to try to figure out wich way they came, since she had closed her eyes she didnt pay attention to how they got there.
Damion frowned. "This is your kind, Bella. They drank their own blood to survive and lost all energy. They drained themselves. You feed off of others blood to keep yours in your own body. If you continue to drain your own blood than you soon will lose all of it. This is what begins to happen. That is if you aren't caught by the hunters first." He explain.
Bella shook her head and backed away from him more. "Stay away." She looked backed up into a tree as she stared at him. She looked away and tried to follow their scents back to the streets. "take me back now!" She knew he was right, but she wasnt going to face the truth. She couldnt hurt another human or animal again.
Damion sighed and turned to face Bella. "I will take you back only if you agree to come back to the mansion. You can live there. It is the only sanction for vampires. We have pints of blood there you can feed from to regain your energy."
"No. I wont be controlled by another vampire. Or tamed. I...Im fine living on my own. I have for years and I will keep doing it." Bella growled as she showed her fangs to him.
Damion revealed his fangs. "Don't not test me free blood. I am being very kind right now. Just come with me. You won't be controlled. It is to merely help you."
Bella growled again showing her fangs even more. "You know. Thats what they all said and then i was controlled. I dont trust you, or any other vampires."
Damion was surprised. "Fine. You may go and live with Tonani. I will send over blood there. I am sure Tonani will be please to have you. I will come check on you from time to time." He bargained.
"Why do you care so much about me and my safty?" Bella asked, letting her guard down slowly.
"I care for all of my kind." Damion replied.
"I am not your kind!" Bella snapped at him.
Damion appeared then beside Bella on the branch and pulled her head to face him. "If you drink blood, and you have no heart beat, then you are my kind. I will take care of you as I take care of the others. Do not fret, for I will let nothing harm. Your existence is just as valuable as my own." He whispered to her calmly and clearly.
Bella pulled away. "It was your kind that made me like this. I am not a murder like you or your people"
Damion shook his head. "I agree, many many years ago we were murderers. Now we are survivors. We are everywhere. There are many of us on the inside you do not see. In hospitals, we have fledglings. They are people who devote their mortal lives to the existence of ours. The can get their hands on vials and bags of blood for those who are much like you, afraid of hurting what is living." He spoke and than brought his voice down to a whispered to say, "It is mortals, my dear, that are the most murderous of them all." He said his final words and disappeared to the ground. "You can become this," he pointed towards the piles of dead corpses which were once dead corpses called vampire free bloods, "or you can return with me to Tonani's home and live off of what I bring you in pouches of blood. The choice is yours. I have no other words. Continue traveling east," he pointed in a direction through the woods, "and you will soon find your way."
Bella looked at him and then at the bodies. She paused for a moment then looked back up at him. "Wait. Wha-what do you want with my sister!?" She was scared for her sister. She did not want her to face the same fate that she has. She could see her sister falling for this man and him doing what her boy friend did to her. Turning her into a vampire, and Bella was willing to do all that she could to keep that from happening to her sister.
Damion smirked then. "Don't worry about her. I seem to be very fond of her........as a human." Than the smirk disappeared. "I would not wish this fate upon anyone. But I exist to protect those who have already fallen under this tragic fate."
"I swear if you lay on hand on her, I will personally rip you apart!" Bella growled as she clutched her hands into a fist.
Damion raised his hand to signal her to calm down. "Don't worry young-in."
"Why shouldnt I worry? And stop calling me other names!" Bella stated calming down a little. She looked at him and sighed. She began to walk North instead of East, and she knew it. She was going to do what she always did when some one found out what she was, she was going to run away. Move to a different place.
"Bella!" Damion called out. "Please remember the things I have told you." He frowned and was soon gone hoping to see Bella again. He was now beside Tonani and Celina with Orochiba by them.
"Well here we are Ranna. Our new home until we have to move again. Don't worry though, we'll be staying here for a long time. This is vampire territory." Twilight said to the young girl by her side.
"If you say so." Ranna said quietly.
Twilight nodded and, after making sure Ranna stayed inside, went to go explore.
Celina looked at Tonani, then scratched Orochiba behind the ears and sighed. "Such drama... it's ridiculous what I've gotten myself into..."
"That is the life of a vampire. Damion is quite stern on keeping the lives of his own beings." Tonani said looking at Celina.
Celina nodded. "I can understand where he is coming from there. I am trying to do the same."
Tonani looked at Celina with an amazed sense of interest. "If you're a hunter, than why is Damion so attracted to you? If anything, you should be dead by now. He says hunters blood is the most appealing and leaves the vampire king completely uncontrollable."
Celina shrugged. "No clue. Maybe because I can hold my own?" she suggested. "Who knows... but hey, he seems to control himself a lot better than you would imagine."
Damion appeared beside the two. "It is her choice now."
Tonani looked to Celina about to say something but then quickly turned to Damion when he appeared.
Celina looked at him. "I take it she didn't listen."
"Your wrong again sister...." Bella stated softly, appearing behind her. She backed away from her quickly, not wanting to get to close, afraid she might hurt her.
Tonani and Damion turned to look at Bella. "Good to see you again, Bella." Tonani said. Damion had a smirk on his face.
Celina gave a cold look to Bella. She still hadn't forgiven her sister.
Bella looked away from Celina and sighed softly.
Tonani saw the hostility and frowned but quickly changed moods to address Bella. "Would you prefer to stay with me or Damion?"
Bella shrugged her shoulders, looking down still. "I dont care. Where ever is fine."
Celina stood close to Damion, and turned her eyes from Bella.
"You will be looked over well at my home, without the pressure and annoyance of any others." Tonani comforted. "Come. Let's get you settled in."
"I will send over the blood shortly." Damion informed Bella and Tonani. He looked down to Celina with a nod.
Bella gave him a slight look, still not sure about the whole drinking the blood, but she was willing to give it a try. She followed behind Tonani slowly, back twards his house, and her new home.
Celina looked up at Damion and smiled. "That was a bit akward..."
Damion nodded in agreement. "That free bloods are always difficult. I'm glad she actually listened."
Celine snorted. "That's a first."
"Can you tell me her story?" Damion asked.
"She fell in love with this guy. She was awesome until then. I knew he was no good... sure enough, he turned her and left there to starve." Celina explained with a shrug.
Damion squinted. "Who was this man?"
Celina shook her head. "I don't remember his name."
Damion frowned. "When you remember, you must tell me. I do not stand for the changing of mortals for the hell of it."
Celina nodded. "I will tell you."
Damion smiled. "Come. I would like to show you something as well."
Celina smiled softly. "Sure." she said and followed him.
Damion grinned and reached his hand out. "Climb on my back, or even Orochiba's. We'll move much faster."
Celina rolled her eyes and climbed up onto his back. "Here we go again."
Damion laughed and off they went. They ran through the woods and around the lake and into another, much more thick, woods. Damion slowed down. They were obviously approaching their destination. "You can walk from here if you would like."
Celina jumped down and put her hair up in a ponytail, since now it was just a bunch of frizz from such speed. "It's fine. I like to walk." she smiled.
Damion smiled and looked down at Orochiba who finally caught up and nodded. They ventured on forward. They came to a break in the trees to a beautiful meadow. There was a small lake in the center and along the side of the lake was a little personal beach with a hammock. "This is my place. It's the best place to think and just relax. I thought that in your position you would enjoy it."
Celina looked around. "This is fantastic!"
Damion smiled proudly. "Thank you. You are welcome to come here as you please."
Celina turned to him and smiled softly. "Thank you. I appreciate it greatly."
Damion smiled and nodded. "Sure thing. I havn't been getting here as often as I would like." He said and then started walking onto the beach. His bare feet sank into the beautiful white sand. "I would hate to see this place go to waste."
Celina decided to sit on the beach, looking out at the water. "It's so serene..."
Damion smiled. He sat down directly behind her and put a leg to each side of her body and started gently rubbing her shoulders. He didn't want to speak and break the perfect mood the setting had created.
Celina closed her eyes and sighed softly in content. She immediately felt all the weight she had been carrying flow from her shoulders with the movement of Damion's hands.
Damion continued massaging her shoulders as he buried his face into her hair admiring her scent. He turned his head slightly and leaned down smelling along her neck and sighed.
Celina looked up at him over her shoulder and couldn't help but to chuckle. "Still tempting, hmm?"
Tonani glanced back towards Bella every now and then. After a while of silence he spoke, "Are you alright?"
Bella sighed softly and shrugged her shoulders. "No. maybe. Yeah...i guess." She smiled a little and played with her hair a bit. They got to the house, and waited for him to open the door. She was confused on a lot of things. Why her sister was hanging out with a vampire. Why Damion cares about if she lives or dies when he doesnt know her. Why did Tonani agree to let a vampire live with him. And the way she was trying to figure them out, was not talking and concentrating on them.
Tonani opened the door and let her walk through first letting her gather her thoughts. After a while of silence he spoke. "Can I ask what you're thinking about?"
"That man back there and my sister." Bella stated softly. She smiled as she walked in and headed for the stairs slowly.
"Damion.." Tonani corrected her. "What about them?" He asked curiously.
"Just..." Bella got to the top of the stiars and looked down at him. "Nothing. Thnk you for your hospitality. I will look for a job adn another home soon so i will be out of your way." She smiled again and headed into the room she was in before. She layed on the bed and looked up at the ceiling, as her stomach growled softly.
Tonani sighed. "Stay as long as you wish." He whispered to himself.
The image of the deap bodies that fed on themselves stuck in her head, and Damions voice and what he said kept repeating itself. She rolled around in her bed trying to get them out of her head and trying to not be hungry.
Tonani sat on the couch in his living room and turned the television on and watched the first thing that was on. He had no idea what it was. All he saw was a man and a woman fighting while shooting at others. He found it intriguing for the time being.
Bella got up and walked down the stairs slowly. She walked into his living room and smiled a little. "Mind if i join you?"
Tonani looked from the TV to Bella and smiled in return. "Oh. Not at all. Please do." He held his hand out towards the seat on the couch beside him as if directing her.
Bella walked in slowly, and sat down on the couch next to him. She crossed her left leg over her right leg and crossed her hands over her stomach. She sighed softly and looked at the tv. "How do you know that man" She stated softly, not taking her eyes off the tv.
Tonani looked back at Bella. "Who?" He paused for a moment. "Oh. Damion. Well, that's a very long story."
Bella looked at him. "Can you tell me it, please?"
Tonani sighed and looked down at the floor. "He saved me." He started. The voice was unusually solemn. "I was just a child. I was walking home from the park after playing baseball with my friends. It was dark, and late. There was a man following me. I didn't pay much attention to it then. Not until he was suddenly in front of me knocking me onto my ass." Tonani was explaining obviously lost in his own past now. But he continued speaking as if he were telling himself the story. "He wrapped his arms around me from behind and suddenly I felt ice cold breath brushing against my neck. But before anything else happened, I was flung across the street. After that all went black. When I awoke again, I was being carried by another strange man who was talking to himself. He kept telling himself that he was stupid for killing his favorite one but he taught him better than that. At the time I had no idea what he was talking about. He carried me to a field where there was no one. I couldn't fight him to get away. I had no strength left. I could feel the cuts on my body." Tonani ran his fingers across his arm tracing scars that have nearly disappeared.
"'Don't be scared.' He had told me. His voice was other worldly and more beautiful than a voice should be. It calmed me and made all the pains just disappear." Tonani took a deep breath. "'I saved you and I would like nothing from you. Don't say what has happened here tonight.' He told me just before he vanished. For nights I did research trying to find out who or what he was. As a boy I thought it was all so silly but I thought he could have been anything. For a few days I thought he was superman in a new costume." Finally Tonani looked up off the floor to Bella with a small smile on his face obviously laughing at his own child stupidity. The smile faded and he continued with the story. "It wasn't for another two weeks that I finally saw him again. It was in an alley just a block from here. I saw this large white wolf that I was intrigued by. I couldn't stop my feet from walking forward even when it was growling at me and near to attack. But there was something behind me that made it stop. I still had moved closer to the wolf though, until I heard that voice. 'It looks like you'll never give up.' He had said to me. I turned as fast as I could just to see his face. 'But it seems as though you've found me out. It's such a pity, young Tonani, that I must go.' He had said to me just before vanishing once again. But I wouldn't let it go. I searched and searched and kept finding him but losing him again. Little by little he began to trust me with his secret of his being. He told me everything after then. I've stuck by him since the moment he saved my life." He smiled to Bella in joy of being so close to Damion after all the long years.
Bella stared at him, and went to put a hand on his leg for comfort but stopped. She just stared at him in silence for a while. When she finally spoke, she spoke softly. "Im so sorry." She didnt know what else to say, so it was silence again. "But at least he looked out for you after that. And now you two are great friends" She stated.
Tonani laughed. "No need to apologize. It made a great life for me. Stalking a vampire was quite interesting."
Bella covered her mouth as she laughed a little. "It sounds very interesting." She smiled a little and looked down at the floor. "Thank you"
Tonani looked at her with a questioning expression. "For what?"
"For letting me stay here with you. I promise ill be out in a few days. It will be as if i wasnt ever here. You will go back to your normal human life, dont worry." Bella looked at him and smiled. She stretched a little and yawned softly.
Tonani smiled. "Stay as long as you please, Bella. You're not a burden or a bother. Just enjoy your time here."
Bella smiled a little. "When your immortal all you have is time." she hugged her knees to her chest and looked down at the floor.
Tonani frowned. "Please, Bella, relax. You make me nervous when you talk like that. If you would like, we can watch a movie. Would you like that?"
Bella was silent for a moment then looked up. "Nervous? Im sorry. I didnt mean to make you feel like that." she smiled a little and blinked. "i havent watched a movie in years" She laughed lightly and nodded her head "That sounds nice"
Tonani walked to his movie rack and smirked as he spotted a good movie. He picked the movie up and held it up for her to see. "Ever seen this one?" The movie he held had the title 'Underworld: Evolution'. Tonani started chuckling at himself at the irony.
Bella smiled a little as she looked at the movie. She then shook her head and looked down feeling dumb because she hasnt seen it. "Im sorry I havent seen it" She stated softly.
