Twilight Characters

Character Name: Edward Anthony Masen Cullen
Age; born in Chicago, Illinois June 20, 1901
Race; Vampire
Abilities; Can read minds, everyone but Bella's
History;His adoptive father, Carlisle Cullen, transformed him into a vampire in 1918 to prevent him from dying of Spanish influenza during epidemic in Chicago, Illinois. Carlisle instilled in him a sense of morality uncommon in most vampires, and central to his way of life is the refusal to consider humans as food.
Edward meets Bella Swan in 2003, a human girl whose thoughts he is unable to read, and whose blood smells overwhelmingly sweet to him. He fights a growing attraction to her, but after saving her life on several occasions, he succumbs and eventually falls in love with her. Edward admits to Bella that he is a vampire, and that although he retains the physical body of a seventeen-year-old, he is actually around a century old. However, Edward constantly warns Bella against being with him, perceiving her life to be at risk if she continues to associate with him. Bella's love and confidence in Edward's restraint cause her to ignore his warnings, even after she another vampire, James, targets her as his next victim. Unlike the Cullen family, who are "vegetarian" vampires (committed to only feeding on animals), James feeds on humans and will not stop until he drinks Bella's blood. With his family's help, Edward is able to save Bella from James' predations, but how to assure Bella's continued safety remains an open question.
In New Moon, Edward's fears for Bella's safety intensify when she cuts her finger and is almost attacked by his brother, Jasper. In an attempt to protect her, he convinces her that he no longer loves her, and moves away with his family, leaving Bella heartbroken. Edward finds it difficult to live without Bella, and becomes severely depressed at the prospect of an infinitely long and meaningless life. After he mistakenly learns that Bella committed suicide, Edward attempts to convince a group of Italian vampires, the Volturi, to kill him. Together with his sister Alice, Bella rushes to Italy and stops Edward before the Volturi can destroy him. Edward explains why he left, and apologizes to Bella. She eventually forgives him, and they continue with their relationship as though Edward had never left, with the exception that Bella has developed ties that cannot be broken with a werewolf named Jacob Black. Bella successfully seeks the support of Edward's family on turning her into a vampire. While Edward is furious at the prospect, he later agrees to change her himself if she agrees to marry him first.
Like all the vampires in the Twilight series, Edward is described by Bella as being impossibly beautiful. At various points in the series, she compares him to the mythical Greek god Adonis. His skin is "like marble," very pale, ice cold, and sparkles in the sunlight. She describes his facial features as being perfect and angular, with high cheekbones, strong jawline, a straight nose, and full lips. His hair, which is always messy, retains the unusual bronze shade that he inherited in his human life from his biological mother. His eyes, once green, are now described as topaz. His appearance changes if he goes long without feeding: his eyes darken, becoming almost black, and purple bruises appear beneath his eyes. Edward is 6'2", and has a slender but muscular body.

Character Name: Alice Cullen

Abilities: See's into the near or distant future.
History: adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme, adoptive sister of Edward, Rosalie, and Emmett, and wife of Jasper. Alice is described as being petite and pixie-like at 4'10", with a graceful gait and hair that is short, spiky, and black. Her special ability is to see the future, an enhanced version of her ability to have premonitions as a human. However, her ability is limited; she is only able to see the outcome of a decision once it is made. Due to this, decisions made in the spur of the moment can not be foreseen. Alice can see futures involving humans and vampires, though is unable to see the futures of werewolves or half-breeds, such as Renesmee. In Breaking Dawn, Alice theorizes that she can see vampires very clearly because she is one, can see humans somewhat less clearly because she was one, and cannot see werewolves or half-breeds because she has never been one. Alice is portrayed as being bubbly and optimistic, and loves and cares for Bella like a sister. Her hobbies include shopping, make-overs, and throwing parties. Alice's early history is very vague, as she remembers nothing of her human life and woke up alone as a vampire. It is eventually revealed that she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was kept in an asylum because she had premonitions. Alice was changed by an old vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protect her from James, a tracker vampire who was hunting her. After doing some research, Alice found her grave and discovered that the date on her tombstone matched the date of her admission to the asylum. Through her research she additionally discovered that she had a little sister named Cynthia, and that Cynthia's daughter, Alice's niece, was still alive in Biloxi.
Throughout Twilight, Alice uses her ability to see the future and help Bella when she is in danger. The two soon become friends, loving each other like sisters. In New Moon, Alice foresees Bella jumping off a cliff and assumes she is trying to commit suicide, though Bella actually was partaking in the sport of cliff diving. Rosalie, believing Bella to be dead, informs Edward. After discovering the truth, Alice accompanies Bella to Italy to stop Edward from killing himself. They are successful, but are taken to see the Volturi, who act as police of the vampire world. Through Alice's premonitions, Aro is able to see that Bella will eventually become a vampire and invites her, Alice, and Edward to stay with them. They all refuse and return to Forks. In Eclipse, Alice, who proves to be an adept fighter, joins in the fight to destroy a group of rampaging newborn vampires, created by Victoria in an effort to take revenge on Edward. After planning the wedding, Alice acts as Bella's maid of honor at her wedding in Breaking Dawn and helps with Renesmee until leaving to search out a crossbreed after the Volturi plan to destroy Renesmee, believing her to be an immortal child. Alice is successful and the Volturi, not seeing a threat, leave.

Character name: Jasper Hale (born Jasper Whitlock)
Race: Vampire
Abilities: Can control the emotions of others, works best on humans.
History: the adopted son of Carlisle and Esme, adoptive brother of Edward, Emmett, and Rosalie, and husband of Alice. He was born in Texas in 1843 and joined the Confederate States Army in 1861 to serve in the Civil War. Due to his extremely charismatic personality, he ascended through the ranks quickly.
Jasper was turned into a vampire in 1863 by a vampire named Maria when he was 20 years old. As a vampire, he gained the ability to sense and manipulate the emotions of those around him. Recognizing his high rank in the army, Maria decided to change him into a vampire to help her claim territory in Monterrey. Jasper's responsibility was to train young vampires and then kill them when they were no longer useful (about a year after their transformation- when their strength began to fade).
After about a century of this, he grew weary of the lifestyle and joined an old friend, Peter, and his mate Charlotte. Jasper left the two eventually, not wanting to feed on humans because he could feel his prey's emotions as they died. Alice, foreseeing that they would be together, met him in a half-empty diner in Philadelphia, and together they sought out the Cullen family. During their companionship and travels, they soon fell in love and were later married.
Due to his past, where he was able to feed on humans whenever he chose, Jasper lacks strong self-control. He is described as tall with honey blond hair, and is muscular but lean and is physically 20 years old. His body is covered with crescent-shaped scars, after the many years of fighting and training newborn vampires.
In Twilight, Jasper accompanies Alice and Bella when they are hiding from James. He uses his ability to calm Bella when she is stressed or afraid. In New Moon, he attacks Bella after she gets a paper cut, prompting the Cullen family to leave Forks to protect Bella. In Eclipse, Jasper teaches the werewolves and vampires fighting techniques to defend themselves against newborn vampires.
In New Moon, Jasper tries to attack Bella when she gets a paper cut when opening her birthday present from Edward and Alice. In Eclipse, he trains his family and the wolf pack to fight newborn vampires. In Breaking Dawn, Jasper runs away with Alice to find witnesses for the confrontation with the Volturi. They find his old friends, the nomads Peter and Charlotte, and Nahuel, the half vampire half human boy. You also find out that he is the one that gets the family their drivers licences and passports from J Jenks, who is also a little scared of 'Mr. Jasper'.

Charecter name:Isabella "Bella" Marie Swan-Cullen

History: Isabella ''Bella'' Marie Swan is the daughter of Charlie Swan of Forks, Washington and Renee Dwyer of Phoenix, Arizona and later Jacksonville, Florida. Her parents were married right out of high school and had Bella at a very young age. Charlie and Renee later divorced and Renee moved to Phoenix, Arizona, due to not being able to stand living in dreary, constantly overcast Forks any longer, taking newborn Bella with her. Every summer Bella would come and visit her father for a few weeks in the little cloudy town of Forks where her parents had lived.
Bella stopped going to Forks when she was a young teen because she did not like it there. When Renee married Phil, Bella felt she was holding her mom back from being able to travel with her baseball playing husband so she decided to move to Forks to live with Charlie so her mom could be happy. This is just one of many selfless acts demonstrated by Bella, which is part of her character.
This is where she met and fell deeply in love with Edward Cullen. After discovering Edward's and his families secret, her life changed dramatically as they grow ever more attached to one another. Bella, being known to attract disasters, constantly keeps Edward busy saving her life from day to day events.
Bella is described as being very fair-skinned with dark brown reddish hair and chocolate brown eyes and a heart-shaped face. She has a wide forehead, large, wide-spaced eyes, and prominent cheekbones. She is five foot four inches tall, but not muscular, and weighs 110 pounds. She does not think of herself as beautiful, but she is alone in this opinion.

Age: 15/16/17
Race: Werewolf(Shape-shifter)
Abilities: Alpha, Shape Shifts, read other minds of his pack, doesn't age unless gives up powers
History: a Native American, part of the Quileute tribe on the La Push reservation neighboring First Beach. Jacob's mother died in a car crash and his father, Billy Black is handicapped in a wheel chair. Jacob also has two sisters, Rachel and Rebecca Black. It is learned in the series that Jacob is a very talented mechanic. In the beginning of the saga, he is 15 years old.

*Spoilers Below*

He plays a semi-pivotal role in Twilight, being the one that originally "breaks the treaty" and tells Bella that the Cullens are vampires, although he does not believe his own tribe's legends. These legends include that his tribe is descended from wolves and that the "cold ones" are his tribe's natural born enemies. At this point in the series, Jacob has developed a small crush on Bella. Jacob appears again at the end of book at Bella's prom, advising her to break up with Edward Cullen, which his dad, Billy Black, bribed him into doing (Paying him in car parts).
In New Moon, he has a more prominent role when Edward leaves Bella, leaving Jacob to fix her wounded heart. He and Bella fix motorcycles and begin spending every day together. At this point in the saga, he is 16 years old, and growing. A lot. Jacob begins falling in love with Bella, but the feelings are not mutual...yet. (See Eclipse) By this point in the story, Jacob becomes very distanced and angry, now standing at 6'7" with a 108 degree temperature. Bella learns soon after that Jacob is acting this way because he has become a werewolf. These werewolves can transform whenever, and they do not harm people. They are "protectors" from the "cold ones" (AKA vampires), and they resemble real wolves. Jacob's wolf form is described as russet colored, about the size of the horse, and later on, shaggy (Due to the fact that it depends on hair cut, which is why by this point of the book Jacob cut his hair from being in a long pony tail to being a cropped short cut). Sweet, optimistic Jacob with the amazing smile becomes a little more temperamental when becoming a wolf. By the end of this book, Edward comes back, and the love triangle and vampire / werewolf feud is set in motion.
In Eclipse, Jacob is left betrayed by Bella, after she forgave and forgot what Edward had done and all the pain he had caused her, jumping right back into the vampire world. Jacob wouldn't take Bella's calls and said she had to choose between him and Edward, werewolf and vampire. His main concern was that Bella will be turned into a vampire, which, in his eyes, is the equivalent to her dying. Eventually, Edward let Bella see Jacob. (This is after she ran away to him twice) During this visit, Jacob misinterpreted the signals Bella was sending, forcing her into an unwanted kiss, creating a lot of tension. (But hey, Charlie was happy about it.) Later on in the story, a battle with the newborns and Victoria broke out. Prior to the battle, Bella spent a night in a tent with Jacob and Edward. Bella kept mumbling in her sleep "My Jacob", referring to the Jacob that she loved -- the one who was very optimistic and whose smile lit up the room. However, Jacob didn't interpret it quite right. This led onto him finding out that Bella was getting married and being turned into a vampire after the wedding. Right before he went out and fought the Newborn vampires, he manipulated Bella into a kiss saying if she didn't kiss him, he would go out and kill himself. During the kiss, Bella found out she was in love with Jacob too. However, after the battle, (Jacob injured himself, shattering all of his bones) Bella went over to his house, saying she chose Edward, but that she did love Jacob too, and that she had to end it with him. A few weeks later, Bella sent out wedding invitations. Jacob was so distraught that he ran off in his wolf form, letting his instincts take over. He was heart broken.
A lot happened in Breaking Dawn. He went to the wedding, caused a small riot, (Okay, so only like, 3 people knew about it) and created his own pack with Leah and Seth. He visited Bella a lot during her pregnancy, wished she got a vampire abortion, and was so heart broken that he went to a park and stared every girl in the eyes hoping he would imprint. And that's pretty much the first half in a nutshell. Then, when he came back from his imprint hunt, he looked the baby in the eyes when he was about to spring to kill her, and then, gravity stopped moving. He imprinted on the chocolate brown eyes (Just like her mother's) of Renesmee, the half vampire. At this point, he got friendlier with Edward. He was a witness for the Cullens when it came to the Volturi "war" that went on. And at the end, he was a part of their happily ever after.

Age: 17 or 18(Born in 1990)
Race: werewolf(Shape shifter)
Abilities: shape shifter, reads minds of others in the pack, doesn't age unless gives up powers.
History: Embry is a teenage shapeshifter from La Push and is one of Jacob's "wingmen". He appears briefly in New Moon and Eclipse. Embry calls Bella Swan "vampire girl' because she hangs out with the Cullen's coven. His mother was not a woman from the tribe, but because the shapeshifting traits are inherited only within the tribe, he is probably the half brother of Quil Ateara, Jacob Black, or Sam Uley, which causes some stress within the pack due to the fact that all of their fathers were married before, during and after Embry's birth. Some time during his early life, Embry became friends with Quil Ateara and Jacob Black. Sometime later, Embry went through the change and became a wolf like the other boys in the La Push "gang." He was the fourth to transform, right before Jacobs, and since he couldnt tell Jacob what was happening to him, he started avoiding Jacob. Once Jacob changed, they went back to being friends. Embry remains one of Jacobs best friends though the rest of the book, in spite of the way he breaks the rules and hangs out with Bella more than he should. Embry is quieter and more shy than some of the other boys on the Reservation. He is playful, but still come across as being more reserved. As a human, Embry is described as being tall and slender, having red brown skin, long rounded muscles, cropped black hair, and brown eyes. As a wolf, he is described as having grey fur with black spots, thinner than Quil, and being swift. (Found on IMDB)

Race: Werewolf (Shape-shifter)
Abilities: Shape-shifter, Hears pack voices when wolf, doesn't age.
History: Leah is the only known female werewolf in the history of the Quileute tribe. Leah's transformation is believed to be what caused the heart attack and subsequent death of their father, Harry. She dated Sam Uley for years, until her second cousin Emily came to visit and Sam imprinted on her. Sam thus left Leah for Emily, leaving her broken-hearted. As a result, Leah is very bitter and cynical, and constantly antagonizes the pack by thinking about things that the others want to avoid dwelling on. She also likes to antagonize Jacob by bringing up the fact that Bella plans to marry a vampire and become one herself, when it is clear that Jacob is still in love with Bella.

At the age of two Max and Alison's father gave them up to the other vampires who could look after them and he never saw them again. They grew up in Romania with the vampires where they were inseparable. Max and Alison both changed into a wolf at the age of 14 and they had to run from the other vampires. They now live in Forks together, in a small motel and are still inseparable, and they are trying to fit in as humans. The two don't look very much like the werewolves they still age, and they are very pale. Since they are part vampire they have to feed but they do it in wolf form and only kill animals. They have eyes that change color with their mood. Max’s normal eye color is a dark emerald green with gold flacks.

History: Changed my her ex-boyfriend, but after he changed she saw he had been lying to her about actually loving her and not going out behind her back, he also then dumped her, so she got her revenge and found a way to kill him. Now she doesn't trust guys all that much, even though she can tell if they lie to her. she is a vegetarian vamp (eyes are gold)

Abilities: Can use shadows to transport in. ^^
History: Bekah doesnt know how she got transformed into a vampire, or her maker. She was left alone when she was turned. In so, she was forced to travel the world, to keep from humans discovering her secret, in which she stumbled across Forks, a sunless town, and moved in, hoping to lay low and live here peacefully, unknowing about werewolves, and the other vampires whom lives near. Her eyes are red, hince she is 'evil' and drinks human blood. But she hates to, unknowing she can become a 'vegitarian'(sp?) and drink animal blood, for nobody taught her.
Apperance: bekah is unhumanly graceful, beautiful, and pale, just like the Cullens.(her excuse for the paleness is her uber long red hair) Bekah's eyes shift colors when hungry. Black-hungry. Red-normal. (she claims of wearing contacts when not hungry)
