Below are the armed forces of Valghast. The legions are commanded by venerable warriors, instead of senators. There haven't been senators as commanders for some time. That being said there are more than 10 Senators, only the most Venerated command a legion, and that's after the Senate votes and approves command. In addition to the ten main legions there are also auxilia, and Praetorians




Praetorians: Serve, and are under the direct command of the Emperor. An elite body of soldiers some five hundred to one thousand strong.

Legio I: The gate wardens They pride themselves with being the the ones to defend the inner circle. Indeed no legion fought so hard or suffered so bitterly as the first. They sustained %95 casualties fighting Varkov's armies. Since that day they have gone on to maintain their well earned reputation. Their lord and leader Commander Edanesh relictor has served the army for many years, outliving two emperors.

Legio II: The Silver swords The only Legion to be led by a Crusnik, they are swordsmen without peer. Comprised only of swordsmen and archers. Their leader is Commander Etain eldinar and her beauty is often described as Siren like.

Legio III: The knights of furion Named after the god of fire, they combine massed heavy calvary with the legions large base of fire elementals to create a howling cacophony of agonized enemy combatants. Commander Ivan tokes is a headstrong and violent man. Often shunned in the high circles by the older folk, though the younger ones tend to immortalize him.**Status**:Renegade/Traitor

Legio IV: the shadow wardens An entire legion of assassins and covert operations. They to have never fought as a cohesive legion. Excelling in poisoned trap, one man assassination, and brutal counter attack raids. They are the final word in breaking enemy moral. Their leader Morkin rivald is a sombre and dark individual.

Legio V: The Iron breakers Half of the Legion is made up of heavily armed and armored Dwarf veterans. The heaviest of the Legions, they excel at siege warfare, and are called upon frequently to preform the most brutal of sieges. They also have more siege engines than any other legion. Commander Grisham excalibre, a dwarf is a cautious yet apt commander.**Status**:renegade/Traitor

Legio VI: The line breakers Comprised of heavily armed spear men, their specialty is the pitched battle both defense and offense. The recent reckless actions of their leader commander Horus aximad have been called into question as being wasteful. The Bold, and prideful Human though says nothing.

Legio VII: the wind riders Comprised of all light cavalry, they haven't fought as a cohesive legion since their founding in 985. Seconded to other armies as able scouts, and recon men. They are led skillfully by Masinato ikido, one of only two Human commanders.

Legio VIII: the subjugators Noted for their stalwart and attrition style of warfare. The legion, or one of its' task forces are amoung the first into any crusade. Their commander Urkar reik, a were-pack leader is noted for his tenacity in battle.**Status**:Traitor/renegade/instigator

Legio IX: the northmen/the forsaken The only all human Legion. No legion has been re-founded and wiped out so many times. Despite their exemplary fighting record and countless accolades, they have been annihilated to a man three different times with only a handful of survivors. Their current commander is Grimbold the great, a venerable and loyal dwarf lord. **Status**:renegade/Traitor

Legio X: the emperors own noted for being the most well rounded Legion as well as the one from with Uriel rose to prominence. Their current commander is Seris Rakarth, granddaughter of Arkon Rakarth from the former dynasty.

Auxilia: a provinces first line of defense against any threat. Comprised of volunteer citizen soldiers, it is up to each axillary branch to maintain its' own training and readiness drills. Often looked down upon for their record of being repeatedly unable to stave off a major threat, this is because they lack the training numbers, and resources of the mighty legions.
