Vampire Heart 5
Scroll 06: Servant
Vicente was glad when the cold, brisk, night air caressed his snowy skin. His icy eyes glowed cold within the darkness as he followed his nose. "What is that scent?" He hopped onto a building and sniffed the zephyr. "Naoko?" he asked. He glanced over and saw her house. "It's a standing invitation..." he muttered. "No...stop it...I'm not going to drink her blood..."
Vicente fought the urge to become the ravenous beast that was slashing and thrashing about in his mind. He forced his eyes shut and forced himself to focus on the last shred of humanity that was in his soul. He opened his icy eyes and sprung toward the roof of the building opposite to Naoko's house.
He readied himself at the edge and he sprung for her house. He met the bricks and ignored the brush burn and the pain of the impact as he crawled up the side of her house. Why do I have the need to see her? Vicente threw himself into the open window and landed in a crouching position. His cold eyes widened as he watched another vampire poising himself over Naoko's sleeping body.
He managed a snarl as he tackled the vampire to the ground with a thud. He wasn't even affected by the impact of their fall as he stood again. Naoko was awake and panicked as she watched him from the bed. Vicente turned toward her and blushed, "Naoko..."
"Vicente..." Naoko blushed as she met his eyes. "What's going on?"
"I...just tell me what to do!" Vicente said simply.
"Just take care of him..." Naoko said simply. "Whatever it takes..."
Vicente pressed his hand to his chest as he felt an odd energy forming at the base of his neck, "Yes, mistress..." Vicente bared his elongated fangs and tore into the neck of the stray vampire. It looked like a horror movie as the blood seeped down the vampire's neck and Vicente's chin and lips. Vicente ended the feeding, panting. His eyes began to look more human as he wiped the red liquid from his chin and licked his lips clean.
Naoko tensed up, "I know I should be afraid right now...but with you...I feel safe..."
Vicente smirked, "I am supposed to protect you, mistress..."
"What do you mean?" Naoko asked.
"That pendant you're wearing was created to give humans power over vampires. I am your vampire," Vicente replied.
"You're a vampire..." Naoko muttered.
Vicente nodded as he sat on the bed next to her, "And now I know what drew me to you."
Naoko dropped the blanket that she was shielding herself with as she stared into his eyes, "I guess this explains a lot..."
Vicente slowly took in every detail of her barely clad body, "Wow..."
"What?" Naoko asked.
"My God you're beautiful..." Vicente drooled.
"Th-thank you..." Naoko blushed. "I guess my grandmother felt that for my eighteenth birthday a hot vampire servant would be most appropriate?"
Vicente pressed his hand to his forehead, "I don't feel hot."
"It's a figure of speech," Naoko replied.
"Meaning what?" Vicente asked.
“Never mind that,” Naoko shook her head, "This is too much to take in for now...can I sleep on this?"
Vicente stood up, shut and locked the window, locked the door and rejoined Naoko on her bed, "Anything for you, Naoko." Vicente laid next to her and was drooling over her as she dozed off to sleep again.
As the early morning light hit her eyes, Naoko squinted and placed her hand a few inches away from her face for shade. She rolled over and was face to face with the object of her secret crush: Vicente Moon. She had the urge to scream, but something told her that doing so would make things worse, not any better.
Naoko shook him quickly, "Vicente..."
The attractive vampire opened his eyes instantly and smirked, "Good morning, mistress."
"Wait...that..
." Naoko trailed her thoughts. "No, that was a dream. A very realistic dream...."
Vicente sat up and yawned, "Then why am I in your bed?"
Naoko blushed and lifted the blankets I'm still clothed and so is he... Naoko thought. "I was a good girl last night..."
Vicente smirked and shook his head, "Can we get on with the denial so we can at least get to school?"
Naoko stared over at him, "You're okay with this dream within a dream?"
"It's real, Naoko. Denial doesn't change a thing. It just makes coping that much more difficult," Vicente said simply. "We do need to stop on our way back to retrieve my things. And on the way to school so I can at least wear a clean uniform."
Naoko stared at him as he threw off his shirt and walked into her bathroom. Since he didn't shut the door she kept staring at him as he splashed icy water in his eyes. "What's the black thing on your wrist?"
Vicente held up his left wrist, "This allows me to be seen in the daylight hours. The stories about sunlight and vampires are on the right track just twisted around for legend purposes."
Naoko nodded, "Where's the vampire you killed last night?" Naoko glanced over toward her dresser where the vampire lay dead the night before.
"His ashes are probably there somewhere," Vicente said simply. "He wasn't wearing a diurnal cloth like this," Vicente motioned toward the black cloth on his wrist.
"Where are your things?" Naoko asked.
"In an alley inside a suitcase," Vicente replied. "So, do I have time to shower before school?"
"It's Saturday," Naoko replied. "We don't have school, so knock yourself out, but do hurry since I can't have you showering when I'm not up here...."
"What, you plan on keeping this secret?" Vicente asked.
"Slavery is illegal, so yes!" Naoko hissed.
"I'm sure your sister can keep a secret..." Vicente suggested.
"How'd you know about her?" Naoko asked.
"I think she left earlier. I heard a young girl talking and it woke me," Vicente replied.
"Good idea. I might be the only one here. Get in the closet," Naoko ordered, pointing at the closet. Vicente's necklace glew red as he stepped toward her closet. She unlocked her bedroom door, poked her head into the hallway and looked both ways. With nobody in sight she headed down the stairs and was met by her mother.
"Good morning," her mother greeted.
"Good morning. Coffee?" Naoko replied, faking grogginess.
Her mother nodded, "I filled your mug and put sugar and creamer in it already. I'll be back in a few hours."
"Thanks, bye," Naoko said as she watched her mother leave. Her father wasn't in his study, and neither of her siblings were watching television so that left her with her vampire. She stepped toward the counter and was forced backwards almost magnetically, then shocked.
"Vicente!" Naoko called up the stairs.
"Mistress?" he asked, unsure of how to react.
"I stepped to get my coffee and was shocked and forced backwards. Get down here, now!"
Vicente appeared at the bottom of the stairs by her side, "I think I neglected to mention that rule, huh?"
Naoko glared at him, "What rule?"
"We can't be more than ten feet apart at any time," Vicente said simply.
Naoko growled, stepped toward her coffee, took his and took a long gulp before speaking again, "I can't believe this..."
"So, can I shower?" Vicente asked.
Naoko nodded and headed back to her room, plopping on the bed, pulling her servant with her. She watched Vicente close the door behind him and turn and lock it. He stepped into the bathroom and closed the door. I have the best looking boy in the entire school always within a ten foot radius of me, including during sleep. I think this gift from my grandmother was quite generous... Naoko mused.
After ten minutes, Vicente stepped from the bathroom in his jeans, his hair dripping wet and his face cleaner. "Are you going to shower?"
Naoko nodded, "Yes. I'll be about ten minutes."
Vicente used a towel and mussed his hair dryer before sitting on Naoko's bed. He handed Naoko the towel and smirked as he watched her run into the bathroom, attempting to cover her skimpy nightgown.
Naoko emerged from the bathroom, like she promised in ten minutes. She stood in a towel, mortified at Vicente who was reading her ever forbidden poetry book. "Put that down!"
"Wait until I finish this poem," Vicente said in a loving tone.
"Go ahead and criticize me," Naoko prepared herself as she sat on the bed beside him.
"The only criticism I have is that you're hiding away your writing like it's a curse," Vicente said simply. "You write beautifully and shouldn't be ashamed of something that makes you happy."
Naoko blushed as she accepted his kind words, "Thank you..."
Vicente grabbed a bookmark from her night stand and placed it in her poetry book, "I'll read a bit more tonight."
"Umm...could you turn around?"
"What for?" Vicente asked.
"I'm changing," Naoko said simply. Vicente nodded and turned his head to face her window.
Naoko watched him curiously before she opened her drawer and picked out an outfit. She changed quickly and threw her hair into the towel so she could dry it better. "I'm decent."
Vicente turned toward her and smiled, "Are we ready, yet?"
"I suppose we have no choice but to get your things..." Naoko whispered as she placed the towel in her hamper.
