'Guardian of the Gates'

The artwork is one to provoke thoughts that let the mind wander. Is this unearthly being a Guardian? If so, what is he guarding? Is the Ocean a Gateway to something more? The brilliant wings are enough to leave one speechless and the elements that make this piece beautiful fit together so perfectly. It is almost as if you can feel the edges of Paradise infront of him.
